Played TR on 10/3, 8am start. The service was good. The course is in great overall condition. If you haven't played it, it's a gem. Hilly with some really elevated tee shots & beautiful views. The tee boxes were fine. The fairways were mostly lush with a few odd small dirt patches. The rough was great, 3" or so, but the ball usually sat up. The greens were good, tad slow & showed some older punch marks, but they didn't effect putts much. The lone fail is the lack of sand in the bunkers. Hard packed, some wet & muddy. The cart girl came around on the back nine. This course is also a great value, for old guys like myself (over 55) M-F $39 including cart. Before 8*am same $$ for anyone. The 19th hole has good food & beer selection & bartender/server Holly is great!

Played here this morning (9/16) with a couple of older gentlemen who were great company. I had played here for the first time earlier this year and I enjoyed the layout and today was no different. I believe conditions this time were possibly even better, even with this major heat up & down So. Cal has been suffering from. Played okay overall but the course was not really to blame.

Tee boxes: Okay condition but they could use some leveling. All the boxes had a bit of chewed up turf, and the ground was certainly not as level as it could have been.

Fairways: Good shape with a fair amount of run, even if they were incredibly wet at tee off and dried out during the morning. Not a lot of divots given the amount of play this course was getting and many people seemed to fill their divots.

Rough: Thick and penal in places, however the native area was far more punishing than any of the rough.

Bunkers: The weakest part of the course; they were awful in my opinion. No bunker had an adequate amount of sand, the sand that WAS present was dirt-like and somehow more than a few of the bunkers had water/mud in them which made them unplayable.

Greens: The highlight of the round. They were vibrant with a nice green color, a good true roll to them and slow to medium speeds. Some of the pin placements were insanely unfair, but it was good to put my skills to the test.

ETC: Staff was friendly, including the cart attendant who came around at least twice. Carts had good juice but no GPS and considering the terrain, they could stand to have gas powered carts here. Layout is great, except for 17 which really does feel like they forgot to include it in the original schematics and tucked it in last minute. Green fees seemed more than fair and anyone who lives close to here should check it out.

Played an impromptu Saturday round at Tierra Rejada on Saturday after a lesson with GDR23 across the street at the Dev Center. Wasn't planning on playing but a friend hit me up so figured 'why not?' My eventual score should have answered that question … As for the course itself though, I was bummed out that I had not checked back here first to find all the greens punched and sanded. Interestingly enough though they were still moving pretty quickly which was confounding. But the fairways were in better shape than I've seen here in a while, but the bunkers could definitely be improved. Tee boxes were good. Layout here remains crazy challenging with long carries to small, narrow landing areas on some holes, crazy elevations on the front nine and many OB areas and water on the back nine to contend with. It's no picnic at Tierra Rejada if you're having an off-day, and that's exactly what I had. I would give it a few weeks until the greens are back healthy and then it should be a no-brainer to come back and play a round here, especially if you can snag a better than rack rate deal. Totally worth it if that's the case.

Played here for the very first time yesterday (2/28) with my girlfriend's family on a 7:45AM tee-time on a misty but playable morning. I must say that I loved this course from beginning to end. The layout was interesting and challenging. There was a very secluded feeling at times and the fact we were able to get around in 3.5 hours really helped the play today. Conditions today were nowhere near what some of the older photos on GK show (I do believe this place is under different management now), but it was better than I expected given the amount of rain in the last month.

Tee boxes: Good condition. I don't distinctly remember struggling to find level ground nor did I have trouble driving tees into the ground. The boxes were a bit chewed up and it did seem a lot of people were playing the blue tees today.

Fairways: Good to great condition. Given how misty the morning was, the fairways started with little roll and got progressively drier and better for roll. Lies varied from excellent to decent, however that was more on golfers who do not fill in divots. There is some serious undulation everywhere here and the fairways could be punishing if you aimed incorrectly.

Rough: Good condition. It was more penal early on because it was covered in dew and like many target golf courses, the real challenge isn't the rough, it's the OB/hazard areas and they abound here. The front 9 plays very different than the back in this regard.

Bunkers: Okay condition. Thankfully was only in one however it was pretty wet with the weather adding to its consistency of wet oatmeal. Shot shaping was at a premium today.

Greens: Good to great condition. The highlight of the round; greens were a nice lime green color and the putting surfaces were excellent. Minimal divot damage and the contours on some greens were crazy fast and difficult. A fun challenge.

ETC: Carts were basic with no GPS and sub-par breaking system. This place could benefit from investing in GPS as there are plenty of blind shots. No starter today but golf shop attendant was very nice and on top of it. Plenty of parking though if you pass on the road and aren't paying attention, you could miss entrance. Food at the restaurant was actually very delicious. Pace of play was not an issue today as we breezed at our own so much so we had a twosome behind us all day that couldn't even catch up after hole 2. As mentioned, course has banner saying under new management and there are some subtle to moderate changes in the layout/look from what the earliest photos show on GK. It does not look like the emerald city anymore and some of the course contours are no longer there (i.e. look at photo for 17th and if you play, you will notice it does NOT look this way anymore). I highly recommend and welcome a forum post about thoughts.

Played TR on Monday morning (8:32am)1/28 as a threesome. We played on the senior weekday special of $35 with cart. Definitely worth that price! The last time I played this course it was mid-summer last year. The course was in very poor shape and not enjoyable to play. Since then, the new owners (ARCIS) have spent some time and money watering the course. In addition to that the guys working in the Pro Shop actually smiled and greeted you. The previous employee was not so friendly. On to the course conditions: I was pleasantly surprised today. Overall the course is in good winter condition. Tee boxes are just fine for the most part. Fairways have greened up somewhat and are very playable. They are not perfect, but good. Once Spring rolls around the fairways should be lush and green. The rough was a little spotty. It was about 1 - 2 inches and not too penal to hit from. The greens were medium fast. They rolled very nicely and held well struck shots. The only negative I encountered on the course had to do with the bunkers. I was in three greenside bunkers. One of them had plenty of very nice sand. The second one had about 1 inch of sand over a hard base. It was still OK to hit from. The greenside bunker on hole 13 was terrible. I hit my second shot into this par 4 hole high (pin was in the back) and in that bunker. It's not a good bunker to be in generally because you don't have a lot of green to work with and the green slopes away from you and toward a water feature. You have to hit a real finesse sand shot to keep it on the green. Well, there is NO sand in this bunker. It contains only rock hard dirt. There is no way to get your club under that ball, which (for me) brought the water into play. I told the pro shop about this bunker. Hopefully, they'll put some sand in it. Other than that, I enjoyed my round today. I recommend it.

Played today on their senior Jan special ($35). POP was 3.5 H. Course came through the storms just fine. No CPO at all today. Fairways provided good roll and lies all round. Rough outside of fairways and around the greens was still tall and sticky (not all cut yet). Bunkers were just great to play out of (in 2 no issues). Tee boxes were all clean/playable. Greens were cut and chipping/putting just fine. Held high shots + good bounce/release and roll as well. Customer service excellent at all levels. Enjoyable and recommended.

Played today in 2.5 H as out early and no one around. Found the course to be in very nice condition at all levels. Tee boxes were being mowed in front of me, so they were clean and playable. Fairways were in great shape (though some dormancy is starting to show) and they provided good roll and lies, all round. Found 2 bunkers and the sand was clean, playable with no issues. More OB than rough (as well as some water) to worry about throughout the course. Greens were all mowed and held shots, chipped/putted great and had good speed. Not sure if the carts were new (they appeared to be) but they are comfortable and speedy. Customer service excellent at all levels. Always love playing here, as the design and elevations changes, provide a challenging round of golf. Wish it was closer to my home?

Late to the party---- Rode the Blacks for my bday round 9/17/18. Thanks to the staff for honoring my bday round a couple days late. Joined by a single for a couple holes--he left after we caught a logjam of players on #13. POP was 4 hrs 20 minutes. Greens were the best part of the course. Rolling medium pace and semi smooth with a few bumps. I believe they will be doing some maintenance on the greens soon. The fairways I would call drier than normal for this course. Lies were decent--you get a ton of roll if you are a lower ball flight player off the tee. Tees were mostly level and in decent shape. Rough was dry and clumpy. In OK shape. With teaching across the street I will be here more often for some playing lesson rounds. This is a fun hilly layout with some awesome shot value--some birdie holes and a couple tough hang on holes.

Played after 3pm, got a deal and paid $29. My son and I played behind two foursomes and finished the round in 3 hrs 45 minutes. I really like the layout, but the course is in bad condition, specially the fairways. The fairways were recently punched, but they are extremely dry. Pro shop stated they have a new owner so hopefully there are improvements. That being said I wouldn’t pay more than $29.
