Got an 11:00 start as single joining another single and a twosome, all playing the whites. Probably 20-something years since I've played here, I was favorably impressed and it felt a step above average my average muni experiences. Teeing grounds were level with consistent, tight coverage that was worn close to more of a suggestion of coverage at times in the hitting zone. As these are teeing areas, i.e. using a tee to set up the ball, I saw no issues with them. The ground is firm and sometimes required a little extra to get the tee set. Fairways were nice: good hitting surface, a little on the tight side with good roll, visually clean and generally consistent. Rough varied greatly. Usually playable fairway adjacent, but also extensive areas of chips/dirt a little beyond that. There are also areas around the property with trees, foliage and weedy undergrowth that has become lush with the rain and it can be easy to lose balls there. I was in way too many bunkers so I can vouch for the condition which is generally pretty clean, firm-ish with good sand on which the ball sat up more than not. Green surrounds were clean and good for short game, albeit frequently more on the tight than lush side. Greens were firm and ran at a good quick speed that was not excessive. Where repaired, they tend to show ball mark scars even though those visual traces don't impact the roll. There is a firm, sandy quality to the soil that requires a little more attention and effort with the tool to repair pitch marks. Most greens had some element of contour and I enjoyed putting on them. I'd had my eye out to catch a round here with my regular golf buddy, but I never saw availability late in the week when we play. As it was a Tuesday (my birthday) and I was going single, I was able to score the booking on short notice. In addition to the nice overall conditions, the group ahead pulled away while the trailing group was usually about a hole behind, so we had a sense (illusion) of an uncrowded course and our own pace (4.5 hrs). There were a couple of negatives to mention. First is the proximity of the freeway and that noise, especially for holes closer to it. Because it is constant, I treat it as white noise and it really doesn't bother or faze me, but for some it would definitely be a consideration. The other issue was odors, at least on that day. They were patching the clubhouse roof, so there was the tar smell in that vicinity. Closer to the freeway and the construction areas that are still active was a smell somewhere between sulfurous and sewage wafting about. It was somewhat localized but not insignificant, and in the vein of "know before you go" be forewarned. Again, I observed it, but it wasn't going to ruin my round nor would it keep me away. Bottom line, I was impressed with the improvements and conditions and will definitely look forward to playing here again.

Fairways and traps were excellent and the rough was fine. Not too soggy in the morning.

POP was a little slow , it was packed out there.

Biggest bummer was that no one repairs their ball marks there. The second hole looked like a teenagers face. They even marked all the poc marks with blue paint. Its insane to have non poa greens that are that pure and then treat them like trash. People b$tch all the time at work about greens yet no one repairs them.

Headed back out to Diamond Bar this week with two friends including my buddy who is a member at Hacienda and had never played DB before. I was very curious what his thoughts would be after the round and he was quite impressed - calling it even better than another one or two local private clubs he plays regularly.

I definitely enjoy the course as well, especially with all of the new improvements and layout changes, but there are still some needs that should be addressed. First off, the freeway work is still ongoing and it's a real challenge on some of the holes in terms of noise and just distraction. I can't wait for all the road work to be truly finished to see this course at its best.

There were also no marshals at all on the course and at one point, while on the green at the 12th hole, we noticed two entire holes (15 and 16) were empty as a group of drunk guys casually rode down the fairway. They were literally holding up all the groups behind and my friend let them have it, but in truth, he shouldn't have to if the course is being properly marshaled. As the new Diamond Bar grows in popularity, this needs to be addressed to avoid what turned out to be a five-hour round.

On the positive side, the recently punched greens are looking quite well but I fear that the message about fixing ball marks is not being stressed enough. The greens are all in great shape if weren't for so many little pock marks everywhere from lazy golfers simply not bothered enough to fix their damage. I think I fixed at least two or three on each hole (and I played so poorly that I know none of them were mine!). It's a shame because they could really be top notch with just the slightest amount of attention from the clientele.

Fairways are in good shape with a few thin/dry areas, but for the most part you're getting plenty of good lies. When you're off with your shots though, there are a lot of mulch and wood chip areas between holes that are going to give you a hard time. Tee boxes were all in good shape (played the blue tees) and the rough was very playable and fun. The bad? The bunkers are very thin. I tried to play a standard bunker shot on the second green and my club bounced on the surface just underneath to rocket out fifty yards. I played all subsequent bunkers as chip shots instead to keep my sanity. This needs to improve.

We had great cart service all afternoon and that was quite nice, while the carts themselves are very basic with no GPS or any other specialty items. The snack shop across from the starter is pretty good but had a limited selection on this day because the cook called in sick. Whatcha gonna do?

So definitely a few wrinkles that need ironing out but still Diamond Bar is a much-improved facility that was more than worth the $65 greens fee. A very good value still for the nice golf experience overall that was provided.

The practice greens were so much smoother and quicker than the actual greens on the course. Back nine conditions were sh-t ty, like nothing had improved from the remodeling. Course is still fun with decent greens, but back nine conditions took away from the round.

Got my first taste the new Diamond Bar this week and I can honestly say that I'm impressed beyond my expectations. Not only is the new front nine layout really well done with the space provided, but I can honestly say these new green complexes are some of the absolute best in SoCal - and that includes a LOT of private clubs.

My buddy and I had an afternoon tee time and spent a few minutes on the solid range before heading over to the starter on the first tee. We played the blue tees which are a good challenge and rode. The carts are nothing special but get the job done.

The redesigned front nine now has taken the old par 3 9th hole going up that big volcano and turned it into a far superior par 3 3rd hole that still looks like it's growing into its best form but plays really nicely over the same lake. Then you get over to the other side of the property and the holes and setup are just really nice. The redesign has moved the holes a bit farther away from the freeway, so it doesn't feel as suffocating as it used to, and that's great.

The back nine hasn't changed much at all but still plays really nicely and is a lot of fun. The 18th hole is a real fun challenge and maybe one of the better closing holes in the city. There is a lot more open space now as well which means as this course matures it should be getting better and better in terms of coverage. It feels very wide open but has a lot of strategic bunkers that will make you consider your lines.

POP was also pretty good for the first half of the round, but we did back up a bit after the turn, but nothing too terrible, although I can imagine rounds here on the weekends taking a bit more time than someone would want.

In terms of conditions, once again the greens and green complexes are simply top notch. I don't think you're going to find a better looking green than on hole 13 - it's stellar, as are most all the others. Really great work by the redesign team here. I would give the greens even higher marks but you will find a lot of ball mark scars from the guests who don't take enough time to fix them, but they're not affecting superb rolls and great reception. They're just fantastic and you should definitely go play them.

The fairways were in good shape as well but I did see that they were coloring them with a sprayer so I'm not sure how much that says about their quality. From a visual standpoint, at least this week, the course looks very green indeed, but it's a chemical facade that I'm not going to complain about too much. Most of the course had very good coverage and I didn't find too many bad lies at all, but it looks even better than it plays. The rough was not too bad and there are a lot of mulch areas now that can make holes challenging.

The bunkers had good sand in them and I never had any trouble with those shots all afternoon, so that's always fun. The tee boxes were all in good, not great shape. We'll see how the course changes over the coming months as it grows into its new shape.

So overall, and especially with an entirely reasonable $60 rate with cart midweek, it was an absolutely fantastic experience at the new Diamond Bar and I can't recommend it enough. Really looking forward to getting back out there.

First time playing DBGC on 4-4-25 early am, a bit chilly (45-47') @ 6:30 am. I played as a single with a booked tee time and joined a group of three. I played from the blue tee boxes 71.4/128. The course was redone a few years back completely.
Nice layout. The first few holes look easy; you need to be hitting your targets. The third hole is a par 3 over water, slightly uphill. Need the right club for the distance, probably one more than you think.
Fairways in good condition, tee boxes are hard and need more TLC. The green roll nicely, but they are hard, hard, hard.

First time playing since the remodel and before the demic. Last time we played here, we swore that we would not return due the slow 6-hour POP. Unfortunately, it was still a 5-hour POP on a Wednesday morning, with a lot of waiting on the back 9.

Most of the remodel affected the front 9. They changed the #3 hole to where the former #9 par 3 was and it no longer uphill.

The fairways were a little thin but did have grass and balls did roll after landing. Greens were not holding shots and would roll between 5-10 feet after landing. They were firm but were slow as they were a little shaggy. They were sanding them when we were done with the round. Some roughs were tall and have not been cut making it tough to find your shot.

New tee times booking procedure. All tee times are booked through the website, they will not take reservations on the phone unless it's for same day play. There is a $10 per player deposit required which is non-refundable if cancelled less than 48 hours before tee time. Also, an additional $10 per player for each no show in your group.

Still on the fence if we'll return to play here.

played 9-4 pop 3h 20 min the good. this was my first time playing since re-opening and the service was great. now for the bad, greens are thin and sparse although they ran good, fairways are also thin and sparse with virtually no rough with a mix of old trees and new ones.
I like the layout but think the course lost some of it's character with the redo. I fixed one ballmark all day and it wasn't mine, hit a towering lob shot with spin and no Mark to be found.
the course is in desperate need of a re-seed this fall but it being American golf highly doubt it will happen. Overall it was a fun track to play but I won't be back until we get some rain. one final note they will be punching greens starting 9-10.

First Time after re-opening. This course has changed for the better, but most golfers here are the ones who hate to rake bunkers, fix divots on the green & on the course and enjoy taking their sweet time. It took us 5.5 hours to complete in 100 degree heat. Bunkers had a ton of foot prints, so play early if you want proper bunkers. Greens are super fast with a few holes having divots EVERYWHERE. The slow play, people, if you can’t hit the ball off the tee more than 150 yards with your driver, do not play the back tees. Can’t say I’ll play this course any time soon.
