First time playing since the remodel and before the demic. Last time we played here, we swore that we would not return due the slow 6-hour POP. Unfortunately, it was still a 5-hour POP on a Wednesday morning, with a lot of waiting on the back 9.

Most of the remodel affected the front 9. They changed the #3 hole to where the former #9 par 3 was and it no longer uphill.

The fairways were a little thin but did have grass and balls did roll after landing. Greens were not holding shots and would roll between 5-10 feet after landing. They were firm but were slow as they were a little shaggy. They were sanding them when we were done with the round. Some roughs were tall and have not been cut making it tough to find your shot.

New tee times booking procedure. All tee times are booked through the website, they will not take reservations on the phone unless it's for same day play. There is a $10 per player deposit required which is non-refundable if cancelled less than 48 hours before tee time. Also, an additional $10 per player for each no show in your group.

Still on the fence if we'll return to play here.

played 9-4 pop 3h 20 min the good. this was my first time playing since re-opening and the service was great. now for the bad, greens are thin and sparse although they ran good, fairways are also thin and sparse with virtually no rough with a mix of old trees and new ones.
I like the layout but think the course lost some of it's character with the redo. I fixed one ballmark all day and it wasn't mine, hit a towering lob shot with spin and no Mark to be found.
the course is in desperate need of a re-seed this fall but it being American golf highly doubt it will happen. Overall it was a fun track to play but I won't be back until we get some rain. one final note they will be punching greens starting 9-10.

First Time after re-opening. This course has changed for the better, but most golfers here are the ones who hate to rake bunkers, fix divots on the green & on the course and enjoy taking their sweet time. It took us 5.5 hours to complete in 100 degree heat. Bunkers had a ton of foot prints, so play early if you want proper bunkers. Greens are super fast with a few holes having divots EVERYWHERE. The slow play, people, if you can’t hit the ball off the tee more than 150 yards with your driver, do not play the back tees. Can’t say I’ll play this course any time soon.

First time playing this course after the reopening. 11:33 tee time on 4th of July. Didn't expect it to be a nice 4 hour round, but also didn't expect it to be nearly 6 hours. There were 3 groups waiting on the #13 par 3.

The greens were rock hard and dry. I would stick a 110' high 9 iron onto the green and it would barely even make a ball mark, then it would usually just bounce off the green anyways. While the fairways had green grass, it was dry and hard. Most of the bunkers had nice sand. Tee boxes were great.

Fun and challenging track, but pace of play is terrible.

This is my 4th time playing it since it's reopening. Course overall is nice. This golf course is pretty straight forward. If you're spraying the ball it will get really tough due to all the trees. You will find some iffy lies at times, even on the fairways. Bunkers are full and have great sand coverage. Tee boxes are level and not chewed up. Greens are pretty good in my opinion, especially for being new. They are very firm and don't tend to hold shots so you have to play to a lesser distance. They roll pretty well too. Not a lot of ball marks due to the firmness. Going to take time for the greens to mature. Overall I enjoy playing DB and will continue to due so.

Played this morning. County courses are strickly enforcing that the time between 7 and 9 is not for Sr players. Before 7 and after 9 here its $23.75 to walk, $39.75 w cart with a Sr card and $60 w cart for general public play. Personally $60 for this public course is to much. IMO not much has changed at this place. The big change is old #9 over the water and up the hill is now #3 over water and a nicely designed par 3. Go through the tunnel and play 4-9 and then play the same back 9 as previous. 6803 B, 6407 Blue, 6059 W and 5618 R. The fairways are all new and at the moment are what I would call tight lies and plenty of roll out. Lots of new sand traps that have "heavy" sand at the moment and I found them not to my liking at present. Very little rough on the course and what is there is playable. Greens are all new, large and at present are somewhat slow but in really nice condition. Tee boxess all new and level. Our POP came in at right on 4 H. Good customer service in the shop and a very nice snack bar and lounge. Carts all new but w/o GPS. I am not sure I will go back as the traffic on the 60 is horrendous both ways and the noise from the freeway and the construction noise is a bit much for my taste. Two issues come to mind. With as many Sr players the time from opening to 7 AM is a short window to obtain a tee time. And I can't see anything but a 5 H or more POP after 9 after seeing how crowded it had become when we finished 9 and even after finishing at 11 AM. No doubt its a welcome addition to the golf fans in and around San Gabriel Valley but I think I will pass.

Played today (4/22/24) only a few days after it finally REOPENED after years of being closed for renovations. As you'd hope and expect, it's in pretty good shape, as good of shape as I've ever seen it. Tee boxes were fair, with good coverage. My only complaint would be that they were a bit firm in spots, i.e., difficult to stick your tee in the ground at the desired height. Fairways were great, very lush, with few unfilled divots and even fewer bare spots. Rough was a little rough (pun intended). It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't great. It was short, which is nice, but the coverage/lushness was spotty. I feel like that is in part due to the type of grass they use (which I don't know what that is). Of all the areas on the course, this was the weakest. On the other hand, the greens were the best part of the course. They were a little on the slow side--despite also being fairly firm--but I reckon that's because of how new they are. They did appear like they'd been punched in the recent past--which I'm not sure why that'd be necessary, if they're brand new--so perhaps that was part of it, too. But they rolled fairly true, and the surfaces looked new, which is a cool sight to see. Lastly, the bunkers. All things considered, they were good. I say it that way because they were difficult to hit out of with the type and/or consistency of the sand. Usually, you think hard pack/dirt/concrete when you hear about difficult bunkers. This was the opposite. The sand was heavy, yet very soft and light. Kinda like beach sand. It was also super white. If you ask me, this is all because it's brand new, and over time, it'll settle and compact. But for now, you need to hit close enough to the ball and with enough speed, if you hope to get it out, let alone hit a good shot (though I'm also a very weak bunker player, so maybe that shouldn't mean much coming from me, haha).

Spent Sunday afternoon at Diamond Bar GC with three friends despite recent reports of renovation issues (nothing that affected play) and poor conditions (sadly far too true). Check-in staff was not good in terms of their attitude, the cart one of my friends used kept stalling on every hole and needing restart, and there is no water/ice machine anywhere which is pretty rough on a super hot summer day.

But alas, the game goes on. After hitting some balls on the range, we took off for our 11:40 tee time - three walkers, one riding, and all playing from the blue tees. As previously mentioned, the highway construction only impacted the third hole, but it's actually much better now than it used to be. It's a fine par 3. In fact, the layout and mix of holes at Diamond Bar is actually quite fun, including that wild, uphill par 3 9th hole. The problem is the conditions.

Right now you're going to find burned out fairways on almost every hole, but also a few with some nice lush areas. But far too often I would hit a perfect drive in the middle of the fairway and be rewarded with dirt or the thinnest of lies. That's frustrating, but it's August in SoCal so I'm fairly understanding. I'm less willing to accept the amount of horrible tee boxes that were either a shaggy, unkempt mess as if hitting from the rough, or else just plain dirt. Some of course were just fine, but far too many were a shambles. Bunkers I avoided all day so I can't really speak to their quality.

Greens were actually pretty good, as evidenced by only 28 putts on the afternoon. I found them to move pretty well at medium-fast speeds with little to worry about in terms of tiers or 'tricked out' areas. There are a few small greens and ones that have a decent amount of slope to them, but nothing that will get the blood pressure racing. They held shots well and were generally the best part of the course. Props for that.

POP was also very good as we only waited on a few holes on the back nine after the group ahead of us got a little behind at the turn. Other than that it was smooth sailing on the front nine and much of the back so that was a good thing. We saw a marshall/ambassador on the 9th hole green, but he didn't seem to have all that much to do, which I guess is a good thing.

I do like the bones of this course and it suits my eye pretty well in terms of scoring, but conditions right now are not optimal and I hope they return to a better state in the near future. I'll definitely be back again but will wait to hear more favorable tales of the course's condition before that happens.

The new layout has potential to improve pace of play too.

Will continue to play here until they close the course around July...some say September.
