Had a reservation at another course for Saturday afternoon but got a better time and course at the Ike instead last minute on Thursday. Our foursome played from the long blue tees (6800+ yards) and we got a nice 11:10 tee time on a super hot day. Greens fee was $99.

The course right now looks a bit more end of summer than end of spring. Maybe it's the lack of rain this winter but a lot of the course is quite dry and yellow, but there are still a lot of good lies to be found as well. The difficult and entertaining layout definitely makes up for some of the condition issues, but not so much for near six-hour POP. That was a shocker and we waited on a lot of holes all afternoon. Things simply moved at a snail's pace.

Greens were the highlight of the round and I had forgotten how tricky they are at Industry Hills. So many tiers and tricky dropoffs to manage, all while the ball is rolling at fast speeds but holding its lines very nicely. In short, greens are definitely what's getting top billing here right now.

The bunkers are a mixed bag but mostly on the thinner side and a bit crusty in lots of places. I managed to find about four bunkers for the day and only one seemed like it was in optimal condition. The tee boxes were also a little more beat up than one would expect at a 'premium' course like The Ike. The rough just off the fairways was in good shape though and made for some interesting decisions on club selection.

We had cart service a few times throughout the round and that was essential with temperatures in the mid to high nineties all afternoon. Carts are in good shape with GPS to help you sort out a lot of those tricky holes. The layout here is a real challenge so make sure to use every aid you can to find the right spots. There are serious elevations here, lots of doglegs and blind shots, and plenty of water features to keep you on your toes.

In short, The Ike is a great course but right now it's not quite in its best shape. Still worth the visit though and can't wait to try my luck here again in the near future.

Have been to the "IKE" course a few times and this was one of the least enjoyable. Course is playing pretty rough right now with very 'winter' like conditions. Fairways are dormant, with mostly brown areas and some holes are extremely bare. Fairways were very inconsistent. One hole it wouldn't be bad, and the next would be just mostly hard dirt. Sand traps were moderate at best. Traps were thin with sand. The best conditions on the course were the greens, but while green conditions were good, the difficulty was insane. Greens are really fast and severely undulated. Many greens have multiple tiers, and often flags were placed on the side slope making 2 putts virtually impossible. It made for a frustrating day as you'd hit good shots, but due to the conditions, you were penalized heavily. I'd wait until spring/summer before hitting this course again and see if the conditions improve. Absolutely love the layout and the course in general. Staff are moderately friendly, but seem disinterested in your enjoyment. The driving range is not close (in parking lot behind hotel) and they don't let you take the carts to the range. Dumb! So much money lost there as people just refuse to walk all that way with their clubs.

Noon tee time last Friday on the Ike. Played with some friends of my sons that played from the blue tees it was a struggle on the par fours and the par five 18th for me. Tees were in good shape, fairways were thin and brown. Rough had good coverage and was not too penal to hit from. Players were not using the available rakes to rake bunkers. Greens were in very good condition rolling smooth and true with speed on the quick side. Quite a few unrepaired divots from players that don’t care. POP was a little under five hours with the back playing faster due to groups dropping out as it got closer to sunset. Course is a good test of golf.

Played on December 4th around 10am. Got lucky with this tee time, but unlucky being behind a really slow scramble. Tee boxes had decent grass on most of them, some were a bit beat up. Most fairways had grass, but a few of them were patchy and fairly thin. Bunkers were feast or famine: some were hard pack especially on the fairway bunkers, greenside bunkers were better, but a lot of them had small rocks/pebbles. Greens were probably running about a 9 I think. You have to be on the right level for a lot of them as they are tiered. Probably worth about $75 on a weekend but paid $90. It is definitely getting more beat up compared to the prior times that I have played.

We tee'd off on time but had to wait on almost every tee box with multiple groups on a few of the boxes. We had 4 groups waiting on hole 15. Marshall was around but as mark had mentioned in the prior review he didnt seem to care.

Course was just as Mark had said in the prior review. Fairways had good coverage and a mix of green and brown grasses but nice to play from. They offered ample roll out on shots as well which I enjoyed. Rough was a mix of grasses turning bare patches the farther offline you get and under the trees. Sand was horrible for the few that I encountered but playing partners didnt seem to find a bad one also none of them were raked. Greens were bumpy but in good shape, soft and receptive just need golfers to fix their marks.

This was my first trip to Industry hills and I thoroughly enjoyed the course but if 5hr 45min rounds are what they offer on the weekends I wont be back.

Played Ike today with a 1:50 TeeOff.com “Deal” time. It was $78 but I had a 20% off promo code making it $62 or so. Note on the pro shop door saying everyone vaccinated or not needs to be wearing a mask to enter, but the first customer I saw didn’t have one on, so I’m not sure how much they’re enforcing it. Check in super easy. Starter out front then asked if he could slot me one group ahead, fine by me. Started around 1:38 with a twosome and pace was not good, but not awful. As expected, the 4th and 5th tees got stacked up with two groups ahead of us on each, but then things returned back to normal. Marshal came around at one point and basically just waved a white flag and said, “It’s gonna be slow so deal with it.” (Paraphrased.) Apparently there were two tournaments earlier in the day. Overall it wasn’t terrible, just a smidge over 5 hours on a beautiful afternoon. Holes 2, 14 and 17 were CPO, but I think that’s often the case out there, right?

For the most part, conditions are good. There are some oddities, though. Greens were good except for an abundance of unfixed ball marks and a big pile of dirt in the middle of the 4th green. WTF? Greens were about medium speed, mostly smooth but sometimes bumpy, medium firmness. I switched balls mid-round and the softer ball actually backed up a few times, while a harder ball would bounce before stopping. Fairways have good coverage and provided decent lies all day, although parts of the 4th fairway seemed wetter than the rest of the course. Rough is much more of a mixed bag with lots of various grasses. Some of the kikuyu around the greens is very tricky. Tee boxes were inconsistent; some really quite bad and others acceptable but not great. Also a couple blue tee boxes – 3 and 6 – were closed and looked like they’d just been re-sodded. I was in two greenside bunkers; one had sufficient sand and another didn’t. Fairway bunkers were good.

Overall a very enjoyable afternoon on the Ike even though it beat me up pretty good, even while striking the ball not too poorly. Hope I can get back out there again soon.

Played her on Saturday, July 31. teed off at 7:50am finished in just over 4 hours. Course was in excellent shape. Played from the whites and that was plenty long. I noticed a few holes would be about 500 yard par 4s from the blues. Greens and fairways were in excellent shape. Check in was fast and easy. Drink cart came by on regular intervals. $79 booked on golfnow. I wish it was closer then I would play here all the time.

Played a Friday twilight round at the Ike and happy to report the course is in fine golf shape, although maybe not as good as the best time you ever played there before. It's good, even very good in spots, but not quite great. But this is being pretty picky in relation to perhaps some of the fine carpet fairways and manicured surroundings of current Palm Springs courses.

First off though, the Ike has a great layout that will truly test you - good and mediocre players alike. Good shots here that find their mark really feel like wins. No shortage of elevations here and plenty of bunkers, OB and water features to eat up your low score. Also most definitely not a walking course, if only for the transition from the front nine to the back.

Nice greens right now with good coverage and medium-fast speeds. Very consistent throughout. Nice fairways, again, even very good in spots, but not super lush to be fair. I know I've played here before when the fairways were super lush and it was even more fun. But it's still entirely good to play here. Thin around the greens for chipping though. Bunkers were unkept with no rakes and definitely not a lot of people self-raking with their boots. It is what it is. Tee boxes (we played from the blues) were okay - very wide tee box markers for maximum angles and flat spot location.

I don't recall any cart service on the course, but there's also currently no courtesy cart to the driving range (which, in truth, could use some sprucing up for a place of this caliber), so be prepared for that walk across the property. The carts are fine and well organized, but they'll also charge you $30 now if you want to ride alone, which is odd because a week ago they required you to ride solo. Sign of the times ...

Always a good time and a fun challenge. Never pass up a chance to play here.
