Play day: Saturday, Jan 2, 21. Partly cloudy day with 8 mph breeze at best, it got up to mid 60s in temps- a good day for golf to say the least. We took off at 11:50 and finished at 3:58. The pro shop staff and cart barn staff were all helpful. The beverage cart came around 3 times. I can’t remember the last time I played here but it’s been very long ago that I don’t remember when in the 90s. What I remembered were more lushness of trees and not Bermuda fairways. Nevertheless, the course’s playing conditions were amazingly good. Aesthetically not an eye popping emerald green in colors everywhere but I’m just saying that it plays well. The greens had a few unfixed ball marks, but nothing serious. It is bent grass if I had to guess and it rolled very smoothly with medium speed. The fairways were dormant Bermuda grass it has a few divots but nothing severe on the shorter holes. The bunkers had packed sand some were fluffed from being used (no rakes of course) but it was fine. The teeing grounds were okay and lush and mostly level. I love this course! Edit: Additionally, we did not see the coffin bunker. Also, I tested the OnCore balls; VERO & ELIXR. Both balls performed amazingly great and were comparable to the ball I’ve used for many years- ProV1 & ProV1x.

1st out this AM on a beautiful day. Course is in great shape (IMO) at the present time. No issues with tee boxes at all. Fairways are clean, dry, firm and provided good lies and roll. Traps were being cleaned as I played. Of course the one I landed in was one were I was ahead of the guy (LOL) and it was not good. They had a big Veterans Day tournament yesterday so that was why. And I would like to thank them for leaving the pins in some great places today (yikes). Plenty of OB areas and water, but very little rough to deal with. Greens were just great as to holding shots, releasing shots, chipping and putting. And they had good speed. Customer service excellent at all levels. Recommended.

Decided to duck out of work early today and nabbed a 2:44 TeeOff.com "Deal" time to take advantage of the 25% off promo code that expires tomorrow. With the savings, I paid a whopping $21.75 to play Ike. Not bad! Checked in a little early and they asked me to come back in 15 minutes to get my cart key. I got paired with a twosome and another single, and we followed a threesome ahead. Pretty much teed off right on time and POP was 4:10 with no waiting and no one on our tail. Weather forecast said it was to be 95 degrees in City of Industry today, but I think the smoky air blocked the heat of the sun. It was quite comfortable all day, although very eerie and weird with orange, smoky skies. It actually became sort of disorienting for me after being out there a few hours. My eyes were playing tricks on me and it was difficult to tell what time of day it was.

Anyway, seeing I was the last to review the course, conditions are similar to that review from a few weeks ago. I'd say the greens were better today -- not as many unfixed ball marks and rolled mostly smooth at medium/medium-fast speed, although they weren't super pure so late in the day. Very soft and accept shots well. Fairways play really good but seem to have become more splotchy in appearance in the last few weeks, although the weird sky may have contributed to that perception. (Everything was ugly all day.) Rough is still a grab bag of various conditions. Bunkers had decent sand and millions of footprints... hard to believe those were all created today. Not sure if they're raking/maintaining the bunkers to start fresh each morning or not. Tee boxes showed slight improvement from last time, but still have a ways to go in condition and consistency from one hole to the next.

Hard to beat this quality of course for less than $22!

Played Ike today with a 1:32 TeeOff.com "Deal" time for $56 after 15% off promo code. As others have mentioned, you get your temperature taken at the bottom of the hill before even being allowed on the property. There is then a starter sitting outdoors but you still need to go inside the shop first and check in to get a receipt to give to the starter. Oddly, no one else was there when my time came around and the starter had instructed me to just head to the tee, so I played by myself all day. I didn't mind as I didn't feel the need to wear a mask and I could take a bunch of photos. Being a single stuck behind foursomes ahead, pace seemed sort of slow but actually wasn't bad at 4:10 total. It was very hot and humid for the first six holes or so, but then a breeze made things more tolerable for the rest of the afternoon. A few par 4s are CPO: 4 & 14 for sure, maybe one more?

Conditions are decent. Greens are in good condition, soft, mostly smooth and medium to medium slow. There were tons of un-repaired ball marks, which is a shame. Playing by myself and knowing there was nowhere to go, I often fixed 5 or 6 per green and could've done many more. Fairways are probably the highlight, pretty lush with good coverage and nice cushion under the ball. The rough is all over the place, from numerous bare spots to ugly crab grass to lush deep stuff. I was in several bunkers and didn't think they were as bad as a couple of the most recent reviews, although they were very inconsistent from one to the next. (They are hazards, though.) Tee boxes are pretty bad, a mixture of grasses, cuts, etc. Way too much crab grass out there in the rough and tee boxes for a course of this caliber.

All that said, I always love this layout and had a great time.

played late morning yesterday here. not too much to add from previous review which is pretty accurate. check in is quick and starter has been efficient and friendly last couple times i've been here. course is definitely overwatered, a lot of wet spots out there even after the course starts drying out. i disagree on the tee boxes, IMO they were in very rough shape from the blues, lots of brown areas, big unrepaired divots, uneven lies. really should be cleaned up for this level of course. fairways had good coverage, just a few soggy spots and your ball would occasionally be muddy. rough was in good shape. bunkers were terrible, hard packed sand that appears to be maintained minimally. greens are in good condition and ran well but are slow just like the babe. over 6800 from the blues mostly because of four long par 4's and not a lot of roll on the wet fairways, so your drive better be on. POP was a bit over 4 hrs.

Played this AM as the first group out. Other than the course being soaked (with the heat I understand) it is in great condition. We also knew that by the back 9 things just might start to dry out and they did. But it is a shame that with the fairways so lush and the lies so good, that you have to slog through the wet and mud when you wish to play early. Several holes CPO due to the water in the fairways (not fun in this heat). Tee boxes were all fine. Greens were slow to start but picked up speed later and are in very nice shape. Rough was hard to play from outside of the fairways and around the greens. I am disappointed in the bunkers here (on both courses). They are just not getting any work and seem to be getting worse each week. I don't care how good/bad a bunker player one is, you might consider taking it out and then play your shot? Unless of course you are playing a match or some serious golf. This part of the playing experience at most courses in S CA is IMO ruining and otherwise enjoyable round of golf. Customer service was excellent. As mentioned before. You are checked at the gate to confirm a tee time and have your temperature taken. Masks at check in and cart pick up. Only food service is bring your own or the snack bar.

Played IH with fellow GK’er, cthuyen (previous reviewer) and a couple of his friends and yes, I am the one he mentioned who got a hole in one (#9). And we will appropriately celebrate the occasion sometime in the future. Single carts moved us along nicely. Finished well under 4 hours sometimes waiting on the slow group ahead of us. I am always impressed with this course and this day was no different. It was in great shape. Fairways were as good as they can get. I imagine we played not long after they were mowed because in the fairway, the ball sat up perfectly. The rough was lush and not too high. Very playable at a couple of inches high. Bunkers were damp and hard. Worst I have ever seen here but understandable as not many courses are maintaining the bunkers very well if at all. The greens were really nice. On the hard side but rolled very nicely. I can’t say enough good things about IH. It is one of the premier, challenging resorts/venues I play. The price tag is always a bit high and that’s the down side but if you ever get a chance to play, save your pennies and plan on it.

Played at 12 pm today with 3 buddies. One of them made a hole in one on Hole#9 with gap wedge even with raised cups. He is a GKer too!

Greens were firm and fast running around 10. Courses in great shape. Fairways and rough all well maintained.

Single carts and face mask required around staff. Snack shop and restrooms were open. Current rack rate is $64 and a steal for the quality course you get.

Late review. Played here on Monday the 8th for the first time. Check in was easy. Still 1 person per cart. GPS on my cart was not working, but luckily we played with someone that has knowledge of the course. The course conditions were very good. Greens rolled true, but fast. Some of the greens were challenging as they are narrow and small. Fairways were nice and green. Sand traps contained sand but they need to be tilled as sand was hard. Fun course to play. POP was 4 hours. On site food facilities were open for service.
