Man I really enjoy playing up at the Hill. Resort feel in the middle of town. CV19 tactics standard as most courses. Security confirms reservations at the shack bottom of the hill. Pro shop check in fast with proper spacing and precautions. Side note they have you share a common pen to sign your receipt. Hand sanitizer close by but saw some not use any. Single riders, no rakes, carts had divot mix, i asked about them and was told they are cleaned after every round. Range and practice greens are closed. The Ike was green, you could see the fairway and rough cut and it looked real nice. Tee boxes were green with lush. Fairways were good, most of the time the ball sat up like it was on carpet. There were a few spots that were a little thin. Rough on average was about 2 inches. Pin placements today were a good challenge, a lot of tucked or sucker pins. Hit the middle and two putt then move on to the next. I thought the greens were medium speed, they definitely have been faster. But add the pin placements and it created some havoc with a couple of 3 putts. Fairway bunkers were hardpan. Green side had ample sand although it was wet. Facilities on course were open. Snack shack was open, didnt stop but was told it was pre made food. POP was a tick over 4 hours. We would have been less than 4 hours but the group in front of us were playing the Blues and should have been playing the White Tees. Will be back next week to play the Babe.

Played Monday March 9th at 730. We changed from Tue because of the rain. We also knew the greens were punched but for $39 we couldn't resist. It has been 8 1/2 years since I played IKE and truthfully I did not remember the majority of the holes. Tee boxes were good, multiple times I went to tee up and the tee went in a punch hole and sank, lol. Fairways were good except hole 3 had some issues, bunkers early were not so good but on the back 9 the sand was allot better, rough was very long and penal, really had to hunt for the ball as it did sitdown, greens were not as bad as we expected for being punched,the speed was not consistent but only had a little sand on your ball to wipe off. The greens were very large and ungulating, many 2 or 3 tiers, very difficult. This is a very difficult course if you are not hitting straight off the tee, that being said I did have 3 birdies so there are scoreable holes. one side note, the restaurant opens at 6am and we went, FYI I had French toast and coffee and it was $20, I suggest you find a denny's lol

Was back in LA for a day and decided to hit up the old home course. I'd lean more toward the reviews of sngernz and 24hourgolf. Not sure if this is because I've seen this course at its peak but right now it is a sad shell of its former self. Having said that at least you can see the effort being put into the course to bring it back better playing conditions. Fairways as has been mentioned are 50/50 re-sodded vs. muni conditions at the moment. But there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they're doing it? #12 is new sod on the right half of the fairway up until about 200 yards from the tees. The left side is playable. Beyond that distance it's all re-sodded and GUR so if you're a longer hitter you can either drop in a bunker, rough, or go back 10-100 yards?? Weird. I'd say about 75% of the holes have some sort of maintenance at the moment.

Most tees were fine although #14 was literally dirt and crabgrass. Greens were rolling well at medium pace but were soft and wet so even screaming hot long irons and woods would stop within a couple feet of where they landed. No issues encountered with bunkers or rough.

Since the Babe is still operational, management might want to consider shutting down the Ike for a couple weeks to let the super do their thing and get back to where it should be. At the current moment/pricing it's a hold for me. I really don't know what to make of it other than to say I'm sad but hopeful.

Don't know what the numerical rating came out to, but I'd say 4.0-4.5 currently.

Played 8/28/19 @ 0740 and finished in 3:45 mins... Read the earlier reviews and got worried about the conditions and so I came in thinking it was going to be in bad shape. I was surprised, there are some rough spots here and there, but overall the course was great to me. They only had 4 cart path only holes and the new sod is growing in nicely- especially on the back 9. They have 40th anniversary pricing going on- which is a bargain for this caliber of a course. Tee boxes were level for the most part, fairways are coming along with some bare spots and ground under repair areas. Rough wasn't bad and was only a couple of inches longer than the fairway. Bunkers were great to play out of, although some of them have rocks. Greens could have been better but were rolling good- they had a light sanding on them which made some putts slower. Customer service was wonderful!

Played today. Should not have. Stew's revue (which of course I read, warned me) is still relevant 2 weeks later, with no improvement, IMO. I did not really expect as much re-sodding, as I experienced? But he reported decent bunkers? Not anymore? They were all terrible, hard and crusty. There is a ton of new sod, everywhere. CPO on all but 1 hole on the front (#1). CPO on back had 4. # 10 looks like it was all redone with new sod? Course is wet and even when you do find a good spot, it is hit and miss to find a good lie. Forget about any roll and you are warned, OK asked, "pick up from sodded areas at all times."The only good part about the course is the greens. But you have to go through he!! before you get to them, except on the par 3's. I can honestly say, I wasted my green fees on this one? As a long time golfer, it is my opinion, this course is 30 to 45 days from being playable and perhaps longer? They really should close it and allow it to heal properly. For sure, I will not be coming back anytime soon. I honestly cannot believe they are allowing golfers to play this course, at this time? Shameful.

Everything else is fine: greens rolling medium speed and true; even the bunkers (that I visited) had decent cover.

So, the good news is they're going to re-sod most of the dead areas next week so that in a month or so it should be in much better shape ... time will tell. Also, we paid a reduced rate of $75 so that made it bearable.

Recommend to call before you book a time to get the update. Most likely CPO on many holes until the new grass takes root.

Got out to The Ike yesterday after reading the good reviews on GK. We were not disappointed!! The course is in fantastic shape right now with the fairways and greens being the highlight. In fact, the entire course should be rated a strong 8 out of 10 with the only exception being the bunkers. This great design has many strategically placed bunkers and I was in plenty. There is very little sand in most of them so playing out of the fairway bunkers was fine but the green side ones proved to be difficult especially when you didn't have much green to work with. The layout here is also fantastic and the course is a real challenge so pick your tees wisely. Highly recommended right now........just avoid the bunkers near the greens!

Played The Ike on Friday for my Flex Tour round and the timing could not have been better. Course is in absolutely stunning shape right now after a recent tournament I believe and it's absolutely worth every penny of the $85 greens fee.

Lush, green fairways, and thick, deep rough await your every shot off the tee, while the greens are in perfect shape and running smooth, fast and true. I suppose the bunkers could be a little better but by no means anything to complain about. And the tee boxes and options off the tee are fantastic.

Course layout is a fun romp that will challenge you all day but also reward well-positioned balls. You've got uphills and downhills, narrow and wide open, long and short, and plenty of really nice scenery and greenery around to keep you entertained.

It's in 'must play' shape right now so go if you can. You won't be disappointed.

Rode the blues this morning at 7:20, POP 4:30. This course is in fantastic shape right now. There are no flaws, tee boxes level and lush, fairways lush, rough penal, but not ridiculously long. Greens held shots and rolled true. Rack rate is $85, but in my opinion right now it’s worth it. Definitely as good as many private clubs, I highly recommend it it.
