Course is visually appealing, but the maintenance staff need to be retrained and/or get new equipment. Fairways were poorly cut as you could feel as if you where in the rough. Greens were slow and bumpy with the majority of holes crowned and cup were badly installed causing the ball to bounce out on three occasions. Sand traps varied from good to hard pan with many rocks. POP was just over 4 hours, no cart person good customer service at check in but when I commented about conditions the afternoon person could care less saying that's not his job.

Always enjoy playing at this course even though I'm over an hour drive from Monterey Park to Palmdale. Maybe because I like the architect, Ted Robinson style of design. From tee to green, conditions were good. Tee boxes were leveled. Fairways were maintained nicely so when your tee shot finds the short, you get the extra distance from bounce and roll out. I went into the trap once so can't really comment a whole lot but from the look of it, traps were in good conditions. Greens were a bit on the softer side on front 9 but by the turn, greens got a little faster due to the elements. It was a nice day out and enjoyed it very much

Played today with tonybarrett, 12:00 tee time; it was only $20 to walk. The course is in a winter-like condition with grasses ranging from green to straw like in color. Decent coverage almost everywhere except a couple of low lying areas that tended to be thin, or in the case of 17 fairway, bare in spots. They are over seeding many spots around the course, but those are really only a few. The range was decent, hitting off the grass, although they have mats on a concrete pad near the back. Much of the range was being over seeded as well. Greens looked somewhat shaggy and bumpy, there was a light top dressing of sand, and had lines like it was verticut recently; however, they rolled pretty quick without a lot of bumpiness. Tees, fairways, and rough were all decent. I had a couple of tight lies in front of a couple of greens, but overall there was a good amount of grass under my ball all day. Great value at $20. No beverage cart was seen today. Pace of play was under 4 hours, which was nice considering we waited a few times to hit.

Played Rancho Vista for the first time on 11/24/2015, as the first round of a Thanksgiving Vegas golf trip. I'd wanted to play this course for a couple years, after reading reviews on GK, and seeing pictures online. I have to say, it didn't disappoint. If you've played courses in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, this will give you the best kind of Deja Vu. Even the 20 - 30 mph winds that blew for the first 12 holes couldn't detract much from the experience. It just added a different kind of challenge, and the course design ensured that the wind never made it unplayable. Great service, great layout, well-maintained, and good value. My golf buds and I live in Los Angeles, and we're already adding it to our rotation. Hey, it's the same drive-time to River Ridge in Oxnard, or Oak Quarry in Fontana!

Played Rancho Vista on 6/18 in a tournament and could not have enjoyed it more. The conditions, especially in light of the drought and being in the High Desert, were lush and green from edge to edge. From the tees to the greens and everything in between this course was in outstanding condition. I lived in Lancaster for 18 years playing Rancho, as it's really the only viable course to play in the entire High Desert, and it's probably the BEST condition I have ever seen it. Even the ENTIRE driving range landing areas were lush and green all the way to the back wall. This course plays VERY forgiving is spite of being one that runs east to west through a housing community. There are minimal trees (all slanted the same way because of the wind) to deal with and it invites aggressive play throughout. A few year back they replaced many of the unplayed areas with desert style waste bunkers which has really improved the overall appearance of the course without taking anything away from its enjoyment. For top players this is probably not a very difficult track, but for the average joe, it's a great day on the course and can still play tough. The ONLY drawback in my opinion, and the only reason we decided to go elsewhere after the tournament to play another 18, is the WIND that can kick up in the afternoon and become extremely difficult. Catch it on a good day, and it's calm and breezy, catch it on a bad day and HOLD ONTO YOUR HAT AND PRAY.

Having moved to Oceanside two years ago and not played Rancho since, I was delighted to see how incredible looked, and that's after adjusting to the consistently GORGEOUS conditions I see now in Northern San Diego. If you can play early in the morn or have a reliable wind condition site that can ensure you're not walking into a WINDY day in the High Desert, this place is playing AMAZING right now.

Played yesterday 11/12 @little past noon as a single walking. Nobody on deck and couldn't see anyone for 1st couple holes. Burn through the first 4 or 5 holes until I caught up to another single (Dave) who was kind enough for me to join him while he waited on a par-3 to clear. Front-9 was slow for the next 4 holes until we made the turn and pace of play sped up while waiting just a few minutes on a handful of holes, but nothing too bad. Finished in about 4 hours and had a great time shooting the breeze with Dave who was a local retiree. Fun course overall on a leisure wednesday afternoon. As for course conditions, tees were nice and level, fairways still rather green for this time of year when it starts to go dormant but you can start to see the colors changing a little bit. Roughs were decent, but the greens were rolling nice and smooth and fast, but not too fast, about 10.5ish. If putting downhill, it can get away from you pretty fast. Other than the stiff afternoon winds (10-15 mph getting stronger as the afternoon wore on to 15-20mph and stronger gusts), it was an absolutely nice day of golfing. Will come and play here again when I am in this area.

WOW! Played today with my Brother and this course is in super condition! Fairways are so green! Greens are in great shape, they are back! Big and Bad! They will be a bit slower through the Fall and Winter because they will probably only roll them on occasion and mow occasionally because the winter is coming with the early frost. In the am they are soft and moist. I saw a lot of foot prints (indentations) all over the green which were not from that day! We had a 8:30 tee time and you play 2 and 3 into the rising sun but other than that, c'mon! Those that got the group golfer deal for 32 or 36 bucks got a great deal! $56 is the rack rate with cart. There are afternoon winds as always and that's when this course gets tough! Today was pretty calm and they are taking very good care of the course. FYI a lot of koi fish were dead and floating on hole 8? Maybe the recent reseeding and fertilizing got into the water? If you do get up to Palmdale, This is a must! GO PLAY!!

Played Rancho Vista on September 4, 2014. Twilight 3 PM, with its normal afternoon winds- 30 mph gust.
I was walking and carrying, the pace of play was just under three hours.
The fairways are okay and mostly in good shape. However, there are some large deep debits that no one had filled sanded onto it. Occasionally you will find these deep and large divots-I did not get into one. Hopefully no one will.
The greens are sort of nice but you can't help run into some ball divots that we're not fixed. There are not a lot of them, but I happen to roll on to them a few times.
The bunkers were okay, I was only in one, on number nine green side bunker. One of the large bunkers in the back nine, I think it is the 15th green side bunker being worked on.
All in all, the golf course is in average condition.
