The low temps has caused frost delays at the Navy course, so be prepared. Otherwise, they do a good job of keeping the course up during winter conditions greenwise ... fairways are a bit thin, and dormant Kakuyu rough is a bear to chip from. Some thin greenside bunkers, too. Flat and walkable, easy to get on, good deal if you are ex-military, practice chipping area, good cafe ... a bit rough around the edges but still recommended.

Played on Thursday, 12/22. Had a 11:53 tee time. 1st time playing this course. What a little gem in Cypress (North Orange County). Much less crowded than Mile Square Park...or Meadowlark. Was running behind 10 minutes. Winds were brutal (25 + MPH) and it was freezing. The holiday crowd was out in full force. Lunch at club was decently priced. Pretty nice clubhouse with lots of history. Despite winter conditions, the course was in good shape. The greens were both tricky and quick with lots of undulations. We had a lot of Sunday pin positions that were hard to get at. The fairway and rough were in good shape..traps had nice sand in them. The patrons do take care of this course. Play from the white tees if you are not a single digit handicap. This course plays long especially the back nine into the wind. Will return soon! Check out the miniature battle ship on Hole # 9 (Par 3)...pretty cool..and I par the hole!

Course is in pretty good shape. Some bare spots in the fairways and some ground under repair. Greens are nice. Was pretty noisy the day we played from the helicopters practicing at the airfield next door and the nearby construction.

I played navy 18 on Friday at 12 noon. Waited on almost every hole. Finished just after 5 pm. The course is in good shape, some bare spots in the fairways and it is now as lush as it usually plays.... Continue »

I played navy 18 on Friday at 12 noon. Waited on almost every hole. Finished just after 5 pm. The course is in good shape, some bare spots in the fairways and it is now as lush as it usually plays. Also some very tight lies in the fairways. Greens are in good shape and rolling very well. Got out for a $45 deal on C4TT. Worth the green fee. I would play it again, just not Friday afternoon.

I teed off Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30. They have new carts and, so far, there is NO GPS. Otherwise, things are about the same as usual. Acceptable tee boxes and mostly good bunkers. I will say that there seemed to be a lot of thin or bare spots in some fairways. They actually had many areas chalked off as GUR. The greens were fantastic. Smooth and medium-fast and very challenging if you put your ball in the wrong place. The pace of play was about 4 1/2 hours, which is swell by me.

The Destroyer is in generally good shape. Normal conditions. Greens rolling well. Fairways are decent. Nothing fancy, just a good muni.

This is the first time I have played here since they have built a new clubhouse. It is very nice. This course is now public. They will make a lot of money as long as they don't raise the fees too high. This course is better than most in L. A. and Orange County that are public venues. The condition of all areas are good, not great but good. The layout is fun with numerous water holes. I will be back soon. fix ball marks play in 4 hours or less

Played 3/7 and started with a mid-morning tee time. Fought through the mid day wind and it felt like it was in our face most of the round. Made the course a bit more difficult. The greens were rolling nice, but the fairways and rough were patchy and on more than one occasion I had to hit from a tight lie in the fairway. The sand, however, was very consistent (I was there too much today). For the number of people on the course there seemed to be too much waiting on the tee box for the group ahead of us. We did not see a marshall all day. With that said, an online special made the price right for the course. I'll go back.
