Played 4/6 nice weather and 4/8 in early round drizzle off and on thru front 9. Used tee off for $18 and $22. Greens are the best part of the course (among the best around) both days firm medium fast smooth rolling well and true. d%mn red flag placements no chance if above the hole. Fairways are growing in but still thin in places but did not affect any of my lies which were ok to good overall. Not much rough along fairways but quite a bit of thick stuff around the greens. Sand was playable. Tees are patchy and not consistently level. Good friendly staff makes you feel welcome. Enjoyable outings on a fun but quirky local course a challenge to keep it in play. Definitely not high end but reasonably maintained and a really good value.

There are several things about playing this course which appeal to me; the staff is always friendly and makes you feel welcome, never have a problem getting out early, and the price is right. So long as your expectations are not sky high, you will have a decent time there.

The course is actually in decent shape, with the greens being the best part. Fairways are thin, but at least they have grass. Some bare spots in the rough and a few tees were chewed up, but otherwise it was about as expected. There are a number of holes on this course I do not like, but for me it's close, cheap and a change of pace. In all fairness, there are several good holes as well.

bunkers appeared to have been groomed and appeared to have adequate sand. didnt have to test them today for a change.
tee boxes generally had good cover with the par 3s having a few divots. tees are not level.
greens are really the high point in good shape firm medium fast rolling well.
customer service good as usual with a friendly welcoming attitude.
this is a value course that provides a challenge with many tight fairways and plenty of trouble. its not fancy but the staff and crew work hard to keep improving the conditions.

2/8 played blues 6125 pop 315 on a great 72 degree morning with just a light breeze using golf sc coupon $20. fairways are dormant thin but never had a bad lie. no rough some bare spots off the fairway but never had to hit from there. tee boxes are in rather poor condition many not level and about half had poor grass cover or divot damage. ok to tee up however. sand traps were groomed and playable. the greens are the highlight of the course and are getting better and better with only 3 and 10 looking a little beat up. others were medium firm and had good medium fast speed and rolled true. this is not a high end oc course but does provide for a challenging outing putting a premium on accuracy over length. golfer friendly customer service

Looks like they are adding some greens and will be making some design changes. Can't say for sure what it will look like in the future.

Teeboxes were pretty much crap. Unlevel and hacked up to death!!!. Fairways were ok, they were playable and just about the only decent part of the course. Greens were rock hard, didn't hold a shot at all, pain in the butt. Wouldn't even leave a ball mark. Plus they putted pretty rough as well. Found one trap. Sand traps were rock hard with big rocks. Rough was pretty low and not very penal. POP was awful, over 5 hours and the marshall just couldn't get people to move it, not sure where the bottleneck was, but it wasn't cool at all. I had an old $15 coupon that I used, otherwise I would've been really pissed. Service in the pro shop and the bar was great, but that's where the good stuff ended. Wouldn't go to Shorecliffs right now, avoid it.

I'm usually not this hard on courses, but I have to be honest. Here's a silver lining- your drives will roll out forever because the fairways are nothing but hardpan ROFL.

Played Shorecliffs this afternoon. Pace of play was actually pretty nice, right at 4 hours, which I'm sure many who play would agree that is pretty good on a Saturday. The course management is certainly doing their part in water reductions, most of the fairways were very dry, there are a number of bare areas in the fairways as well, nothing that stood out abnormally large though. Greens were in decent shape as usual. Greens have always been reliable in their good conditioning at this course, I will give Shorecliffs props for that. Bunkers on the other hand are the exact opposite and always have been, most are fairly hardpan with numerous small rocks. The same could be said of the tee boxes as they are aren't very level. This course is supposed to be due for some changes in the coming months. Those who play here know of the condemned houses and the cliff that they sit on is eroding along hole 5 . My understanding was that holes 5 & 6 will be closed and the houses were to be torn down and the cliff will be dealt with. I don't know if this will be permanent or not, but new greens and tee boxes have been constructed on holes 9 & 11 essentially turning each current hole into 2 holes. My playing partner and I were speculating that there will be 2 drivable par 4's and 2 shorter par 3's as we judged the distances from the tee boxes to the new greens, but we shall see.

We played here sunday and as usual it was a mixed bag but things are getting better . Greens are good as always and the sand is thin but consistent, the tee boxes are better than in the past and the fairways are passable . The layout is still kinda funky bit if you hit it straight you wont have much to b$tch about. The course wasnt crowded and pace of play was good for us and as we were a fivesome we let a few twosomes play thru . I will keep playing here when its warm as the weather cant be be beat but be warned your playing hear for the weather this course still needs work and shouldn't be compared to any of the local resort courses.

Free Round #1 on my birthday, thanks Shorecliffs! Played the Blues (6244/71.1/130) in about 4 hours on an overcast, breezy morning. I played with Norman & Al, who were 84 & 70 years young, the company was very pleasant! My first time playing here. This is a traditional, tight layout that meanders through upper middle class homes. I was expecting some ocean views when I looked it up online and saw how close it was located to the ocean. However, Shorecliffs is located down in a valley and you can neither see nor hear the ocean even though it is maybe 1/2 mile away. I would grade it down for layout for a combination of the following: A) There are 3 different holes with in course OB. B) Many more holes than that have protective screens to protect homes from errant shots. C) Combine that with almost every hole being tight to very tight and having OB or red hazards down both sides the length of the hole with homes down 1 or both sides = poor layout in my opinion. This may have been considered a good layout back in the persimmon wood days, maybe even in the hickory shaft days... but by modern standards, it is lacking. There was not a memorable hole out of the 18. But it's tightness makes it very challenging, 130 slope for the blues is probably too low. I hit everything from Driver to 7 iron off the tee of the par 5's and par 4's. I hit the ball well and pretty much avoided penalty strokes, and still came away with a very poor opinion of this course's layout. Even with a substandard layout, I could give it a break if the conditions were good. IF... The smallish greens were bumpy, HARD (not firm) and medium slow. That's the bad news. The good news is that they were probably the best part of the course. Both the fairways and rough were thin with many areas of hardpan or dirt. The sand traps were not well maintained. Evidently people who play here think the rakes are just ornaments. The tees were mostly hardpan or thin, occasionally lush. I was celebrating my 55th B-Day here, and on a day the course was absolutely packed, I may have been the youngest player on the course. The customer service was good, they got me matched up quickly and you cannot complain about a free round of golf. But this is not a course I would recommend to anyone. I have played several hundred courses in my life, and taking into account both layout and condition, this is on a short bottom list of places I would definitely never play again.
