Played Shorecliffs with my son this morning. Got a great deal on a 9:27 tee time through EZLinks. We were able to play by ourselves and pace was pretty decent all day. Finished in about 4:15, with the back nine a little slower than the front. Course is in pretty good shape. Greens are medium fast, fairly smooth and very soft. Fairways and rough a little spottier, but nothing to complain about. I wasn't in a bunker but my son said they were decent, soft on top but wet underneath. Tee boxes were just ok; lots of divots where they had the markers. Having played here many times in 1989 (this was our "practice" course for my high school golf team), I'm pretty impressed by how much better the course is now than it was then. I know that was a long time ago, but in my mind, it's difficult for me to lose the perception of Shorecliffs as a muddy pasture that calls itself a golf course. Fortunately, they've seemingly made lots of improvements that have made the course much more enjoyable and playable. I really admired the last review and and how mrjimmy embraced the course for the challenge that it is and chose to focus on the positives. I'm going to try to do that moving forward, hopefully shedding my old perception and returning here more frequently.
