Played the course on 02/19 and tee'd off at 7 am. POP was excellent at 4 hours. The tee boxes had grass, but needed to be cut; probably trying to overseed them. The fairways were in good condition, normal winter condition. Greens and around the greens were in excellent condition. They rolled true and as the morning went on they picked up speed. Overall give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Played the Blues (6237/70.4/130) using Forelinx as a single 1st out. POP was 3H, 40M. Partially slow because of CPO, partially because I took shelter for a few minutes to avoid the worst of the on/off showers on the front 9. By the back 9, the weather was nice, partly cloudy and in the 60's. The tees have shown improvement since my 1st visit here 6-8 weeks ago. Other than a few that have some bare areas, I would call them mostly lush and reasonably well maintained for divots. The fairways were winter thin with decent coverage for this time of year with some hardpan areas mixed in. The rough is not overly long or penal unless your ball nestles between clumps. The sand traps have too many rocks in them to be considered good. Tough to rate with the rains last evening, but the sand quality was below average, more like brown dirt. The greens have improved with each visit. Even with the overnight rains, they were still at least medium speed. Putted just a little bumpy, firm but held well struck irons well. Hilly & fairly tight layout that is demanding but has some fun holes. Several risk reward par 4's, some uphill par 4's that play long and most holes have elevation changes. Tougher than average driving course, many holes have penalty areas down both sides barely off the fairways and there is not a flat fairway here. You frequently have to aim left or right of center to have any chance of keeping the ball in the fairway after it starts running and takes the slopes. Daniel in the Pro shop was great, as was the starter. No Drink cart out early A.M. and no marshall. I like the layout more with each visit. For me, this course is worth an occasional play, especially with the conditions getting better with each visit.

Played Westridge for my first time ever today. Had a 6:00 am tee time, but it was still dark at that point, but they sent me and a twosome off at around 6:10. I was sort of surprised they made us start, but I overheard the starter mutter something about, "If you book in the dark, you play in the dark." I guess the course takes no responsibility for offering tee times when it's actually light enough to play golf. I booked super early because the reputation for nightmarish POP has always scared me away from this course, but in hindsight I wish I'd booked a little bit later. As the first group out, we were waiting on maintenance to water greens, cut new holes, got doused with sprinklers, played tee boxes with no markers, etc. throughout most of the round. The upside of all this is that it took just over 3:00 to play and I was back on the road by 9:20.

Conditions were pretty good overall. The greens are really good, although it's a bit hard for me to judge because for most of the front nine, maintenance was drenching the greens right up until the point we got to them. So all that excess water definitely impacted how they rolled. For the most part greens were smooth and very fast, with rather extreme undulations in spots. You do not want to be above the hole here. Full shots stopped quickly. The fairways had good coverage and were thicker than most courses right now, but still not very good. They were sort of clumpy throughout, but I got mostly good lies. Rough was hit or miss, but not bad overall. All the bunkers I was in had sufficient amount of rather fine sand, but some had rocks in them. Tee boxes excellent.

I really enjoyed the layout. However, it's definitely a course that requires some local knowledge or maybe a yardage book. Lots of elevation changes throughout, and several good risk/reward holes. For some reason some of the water hazards have protective netting that prevents balls from going in, which at least saves your ball but still costs you a stroke for dropping away from the net. I look forward to returning for another go at it soon. I think I'll post a Meet & Play to see if anyone wants to join me.

Played the Blues (6237/70.4/130) using Forelinx. Paired with Gene for a fun round. A 3H POP is well worth playing the 1st hole barely in the light 1st out. The weather was partly cloudy, fairly still and approaching 80 by the time I finished @ 9:15A! A couple of tees were closed for repair. The open tees looked like they had been recently over seeded and had mostly good grass coverage. Some could use divot repair and more than a few needed leveling. The fairways were winter thin with decent coverage for this time of year with some hardpan areas mixed in. Same for the rough. It was not overly long or penal. The sand traps were well maintained, but still a mixed bag. Several green side traps looked thin and the fairway bunkers had large rocks in them. The sand quality was below average, more like brown dirt. The greens were MUCH better than when I played here 10 days ago. Putted just a little bumpy, medium fast & firm. Well struck irons usually held well, and they were consistent from green to green. Hilly & fairly tight layout that is demanding but has some fun holes. I found the following to be consistent: the par 3's & par 5's are shorter and that the par 4's are demanding. Tough driving course, many holes have penalty areas down both sides barely off the fairways. You have to keep it on the short stuff here or you are in for a long day. Nice views of the local city scape as the course is mostly up on a hill on higher ground than the surrounding area. The Pro shop was great, took maybe 1 minute to check in. No Drink cart out early A.M. and no marshall. The starter was very nice and got me matched up and on the tee slightly before my scheduled 6:23A tee time. A decent layout, if I can avoid the really slow rounds I previously experienced, this course is worth an occasional play.

Played Fri Feb 5th. Our group of 6 4 somes were to start at 7am. We got there and saw carts liked up for a tournament so we were then told that our group would go out on the back 9 starting at 7:10 no problem. we were 1st and one guy didn't show up and they wouldn't let a 3 some out first so we stole another guy and got our 4 some and went out. We play fast and our 4 some was 1 1/2 holes ahead of the 3 some behind us. So we get to our 15th hole (actual 7th because we started on back 9) and 2 of us teed off and then all these carts are coming down the cart path at us, so I waited and was "told" you have to wait, this double shotgun tournament is going in front of you. So we stood there and waited for 2 4 somes to tee off. And the next 2 holes waited big time on the tee box. What kind of crappie management starts a shotgun at 10am when the 1st tee time is 7am. The course is unbelievable. If it isn't the crappie course conditions, it is the slow service in the restaurant, and management is just awful. The conditions of the course improved since my last bad review, tee boxes good flat, but moved up because of the shotgun, fairways mixed grass but found good lies, green very hard, no hold, but rolled nice, bunkers need allot more sand.

Nice views of the surrounding countryside as the course is mostly up on a hill on higher ground than most of the surrounding area. The layout is demanding but has some fun holes. Hilly & fairly tight. Many holes have penalty areas down both sides barely off the fairways. You have to keep it on the short stuff here or you are in for a long day. A consistent theme is that the par 3's are shorter, the par 5's are reachable and the par 4's are demanding. Several tees were closed for repair. The tees that were open looked like they had been recently over seeded with mostly good grass coverage. Some could use divot repair and more than a few needed leveling. The fairways were winter thin with decent coverage for this time of year. Same for the rough. It was not overly long or penal. The sand traps were reasonably well maintained but still mediocre. Many had a plethora of rocks and the sand quality was below average. The greens were somewhat bumpy, medium speed and somewhat inconsistent. Well struck irons usually held well. Spongy/soft in some areas where you could pop up a wedge right at the pin and it would stop. Yet, other greens you tried the same shot and you would end up over the green because they were much firmer. Pro shop was great, Drink cart out patrolling. No marshall. The starter was nice and did what he could to keep things moving on a very busy morning. After 2 rounds here, in spite of a decent layout, not a place I could recommend because of the POP. Around 5 hour rounds seems to be the norm and the greens are below average.

Played the Blacks (6558/72.0/134) using Forelinx. Paired with Kim, Suzanne and Alex, who were all good people to play with. The weather was partly cloudy, 60ish and a little breezy. The POP was unbelievable! It took well over 4 hours to play 13 holes. For one of the few times in my life, I walked off without finishing with some daylight left, I had had enough. No way we were going to finish 18, so hitting the 5 freeway in rush hour traffic was deemed preferable to getting in a couple more holes dead into the sun going farther away from the clubhouse. We were behind a 5some of out of the country tourists. It was not uncommon to have 6-8 carts lined up on the tee box, hole after hole. My first time playing here. The course is hilly, fairly tight and demanding. A longer, not quite as tight DeBell. Definitely not a grip it and rip it course. Most holes have penalty areas down both sides barely off the fairways. Nice views of the surrounding countryside as the course is mostly up on a hill on higher ground than most of the surrounding area. The layout has some fun holes. A consistent theme is that the par 3's are shorter, the par 5's are reachable and the par 4's are demanding. Only one par 3 did I hit more than 8 iron into and I was either on or pin high beside 3 of the 4 par 5's in 2. The tees that were open looked like they had been recently over seeded with mostly good grass coverage. Some could use divot repair. There were several tees closed for repair, and numerous tees could use leveling. The fairways were Okay, winter thin with adequate coverage for this time of year. Same for the rough. It was not long or overly penal. The sand traps were below average. Many had tons of rocks and the sand quality was mediocre. They were reasonably well maintained. The greens were bumpy, at best medium speed and inconsistent. Some of the poorest greens I have putted on in some time. Somewhat spongy/soft in some areas where you could pop up a wedge right at the pin and it would stop. Yet, other greens you tried the same shot and you would end up over the green because they were much firmer. No issues with well struck irons not holding. No marshall. The starter was nice and did what he could to keep things moving on a very busy Friday afternoon. Pro shop was great, Drink cart out patrolling. I had an expensive hot dog & ice tea that was at best average. Based on first impressions, not a place I could recommend because of the POP. However, I will be back, because I have already made other tee times. So we will see if today was an anomaly or if the POP and the greens are this consistently poor.

Played here yesterday 1/18. Tee time was made on golfnow for 12:37 for 26 dollars. Teed off at 1:00 as they were running behind. Made the turn at 3:40. Saw the marshal/starter and when we told him about the pace of play he thought that was pretty good.... Interesting. Course conditions were rough around the edges to say the least. Just about half of the back tee boxes were closed for repair which is always annoying. Fairway was patchy, thin, and brown. Greens were soft, bumpy and slow. Rough was non-existent for the most part. Bunkers were ugly but wasn't in one so can't say how it played. Not an enjoyable round, wouldn't recommend coming out here, but the price isn't too bad if you can miss the crowd I guess. I would rather be out at empire lakes though for the same price, although all the courses around here seem to be going down hill.

Played Fri Nov 20th at 7am POP was great at 4 hours for this track because nobody was there. Everyone else must have known maintenance is heavenly under way there. We didn't. Every tee box was close for seeding. They had the tee boxes off to the side in rediculous locations completely uneven and only about 6 feet wide. The fairways were wet and brown, mostly because we were playing on manure, yes cow crap all over the place. The greens have not recovered yet and what ever groups were in front of us, they didn't know what fixing a ball mark meant. $40 for this condition was not acceptable but then you have to appreciate the management at Los Serranos all over again, we paid $35 there for maintenance conditions that put this to shame. Again another golf course that only cares about money instead of treating the customers correctly when the course is under repair. This course is going to take some time to recover. On a side note talked to someone and yes the course is in escrow but will probably stay open for 3 or 4 more years. Conditions like this will drive the golfers away.
