Well here goes a review that might not be all that well received. I will try to keep it as polite as I am capable of.

1. This course is in REALLY good shape. I appreciate all the work and effort put in by the new mgmt team here.
2. Range is vastly improved and 100% covered in grass (dramatic improvement from the past). yes you are still hitting off new lush matts, but the grass out on the range is above average.

Staff is so friendly and nice.

Here is the rub at Westridge - 85 to 90 % of the "customers" here have no freakn clue how to respect a golf course and other golfers.....5 hour rounds, unraked bunkers, divots in fareways and ball marks on the greens....this is what you get.....and mgmt has tried everything...but to no avail. These "customers" simply do NOT care about anything other than their group.

Wife and I finished this one hole, drove up to the next hole, and the foresome just sitting in their cart at the tee box waiting on 1 of their guys who was on the tee box with driver in hand, ball teed up and on his cell phone.....we sat there for 2 mins...and i finally had to say something....his buddt picked up his ball and ushered him back to the cart.....seriously guys? WTF......

It is just so frustrating how some folks do NOT care about the golf course...

Here is what Westridge seriously needs to think about...a mandatory 4-caddie program....bring in some jobs...and the caddie can attend to the obviously impossible chore of racking bunkers...etc.

I enjoy the course, but cannot in good conscience recommend this course unless you happen to be one of those golfers who actually likes the conditions i have described.

Great Course! one of my new favorites in OC. In my opinion, the best affordable course in the OC area, I enjoyed it as much as Pelican and Strawberry Farms, but for quarter and half the cost. Greens were perfect, fairways excellent, teeboxes were being worked on so in a couple weeks they will be nice also. Staff very friendly and helpful, had unlimited play for the day and we got in 36 no problem. I will definitely be back. Course very challenging and narrow with sloped fairways and greens are very undulated and fast. Need to hit draws and fades off tee shots.

Payed 49$ through golf now for a Saturday, 1pm tee off. Staff was efficient and very helpful. Especially Mario who was the starter.

Payed 49$ through golf now for a Saturday, 1pm tee off. Staff was efficient and very helpful. Especially Mario who was the starter.

Course was in fair condition from tee to green. I always had a decent lie in the fairway and although the greens were on the slow side, they were very smooth and enjoyable to putt on. I actually made 3 putts outside 15 feet so they were tracking well.

After reading a mixed bag of reviews I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions, landscaping, and customer service. At 49 $ I would certainly return here. Had a great time playing with my dad once again!

Early morning tee time and staff was great. Agree with the previous reviews on the conditions. I like the layout of the course and there are some really tough holes. They really need to get the tee boxes under control, they are beat up and really bring the course conditions down. POP was under 4 hours and paid the Golf now rate of $45 which is fair for this course on a Friday in OC.

The last review from titleist pretty much nailed it. Tee boxes were un-level and many (most?) spots were dirt patches with spurts of grass. (I've got an idea MOVE THE TEE MARKERS MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS!) Rough and fairways were almost indistinguishable from each other in a bad way. Fairways are mostly kikuyu now and they were long except for the giant burned out patches. The actual rough was patchy. Bunkers were fine except for the amazing lack of raking going on. There were footprints in every bunker which is just shockingly bad etiquette. Greens were a bit on the slow side but they rolled pretty well. Lots of ball marks though.

The new management appears to be putting money into the place as it is newly landscaped in a lot of areas. But last time I checked, golfer care about course conditions not how pretty the flowers look. The rack rate is ludicrous for current conditions. We paid $39 through golf now and it was still not really worth it. Avoid at all costs for at least 3-4 months until the next brave soul posts a review.

Played on 07/22/13.Been years since I last played here,so thought I would give it a chance.This course is in horrible shape.The tee boxes are not level and the grass is very patchy.Fairways(if you can call them that)are like first stage rough.Greens are very thick and bumpy.The biggest shame is that I called the golf shop before booking my round and they said the course was in very good shape.Will not return here again.Also be advised that they are working on the range and it is closed.

Played Sat 6:45 am, got a GolfNow rate of $65. Pace of Play was FANTASTIC. We started our round on time and finished in 3 hr 30 mins and we did have to wait a little on a few holes. Course appears to be doing a great job of keeping folks on pace and setting tee times a little farther apart helps. Course has been switched up with new owners and you now start on the old #10. They tell you this from the beginning and appears to work fine. Getting around a public track in under 4 hours is why some of us get up early and this was very appreciated. Group ahead of us did good job of playing quick. Haven't played this track in several years as I remembered the Pace of Play being ridiculous, so efforts here will get me coming back. Greens - appeared to actually be really slow. Did not look shaggy, but they were not fast by any means. They were in fairly good shape. They were a little bumpy at times, but not too terrible. I hate commenting about divots on greens because this isn't a course problem, but a GOLFER problem. Honestly, I find 75% of golfers in So Cal DO NOT repair divots so banging a course on this seems like the wrong thing to do. The only way around it is to have Marshalls walking around every few holes fixing the divots for all those inconsiderate ones.... were a number of fresh divots, but nothing crazy. Fairways -- were in pretty good shape. There were a number of bare spots that were roped off but all in all they were very nice and very playable. Ground was wet in a lot of spots, so given we have been having hot temps can only attest to course overwatering at night early morning to keep it green. For Dawn Patrol, it does make it a little more "moist". I am sure in the later morning this would be a little different. Honestly can't remember too much rough that caused problems at all. Traps --- first item that was really "off". Traps are not good quality sand and noticeable rocks in many of them. Playing out of them was inconsistent and you never really were sure if you were going to get some softness or a flyer. Could use some improvement. Tee boxes --- they really are not great at all. Almost all of them are uneven. Not that I would expect perfectly level tee boxes, but it really was difficult to find a spot on the tee boxes as they were set up where you felt it wasn't going to affect ball flight or get comfortable. They also are extremely chewed up with divots throughout. Even on non par three's, the tee boxes were a little ragged. Looking around them, it looks like they were pretty chewed up from front to back, so problem might be new owners are going to have to drop some duckets and redo a bunch of the grass and really work on many of them. These I felt were what dragged the course rating down the most. All in all, this is a nice little track with a very playable layout and at least today pace has improved. At the $65 rate in the OC, we will definitely play again and will work into our rotation.

Played Wednesday, July 10. Course was in nice shape although for my taste, the greens could stand to roll a little more true (they are bumpy) and a little more fast ( they seemed to be about an 8 ). Some of the rough around the greens is "open"-like and quite nasty-I guess the course isn't hard enough (it is!),so you have to really concentrate while chipping.
I noticed many high cappers were teeing from the tips, which was a joke to watch, because they were ending up with doubles or worse. This course requires thought and accuracy, and length on several holes. The white tee boxes are enough to handle for anyone not in the single digits.
The new ownership rocks! They are very accommodating and are addressing the maintenance and pace of play issues. And very friendly!
If you want a true test of your game, put this course n your rotation!

I played Westridge last week for the first time because it was listed on my Birdie Savings Card, and had some interesting reviews on here. Not great reviews, but interesting. First of all, it was hard to find the place (that has nothing to do with them, just wanted to let you know to give an extra 15-20 minutes than you usually would), but their customer service was very efficient and kind. On the 9th green, there was a kid cleaning our clubs, which was awful nice. If you're a water fountain drinker, bring an extra few water bottles, their fountains that do work have vile swill in them.

Enough of that, the course... Has a whole lot of potential. A WHOLE lot. The layout is solid, plays significantly longer than the scorecard would have you believe. I played from the tips, and wouldn't recommend it unless you consistently shoot 70s or 60s. Maybe even low 80s, but are a glutton for punishment and play quickly. There are some par 4s that require more than most golfers can offer. The par 5s that seem too short require great precision or ditching the driver off the tee. On the tee, don't expect a level lie, and you'll have trouble getting your tee in the ground in some spots, and way too soft in others. The tee box grass is excessively long and patchy. There are a whole lot of narrow fairways. The risk isn't often too bad because the rough isn't much of a penalty, but the fairways were awful shaggy and patchy. If you're a geologist or some sort of rock collector, you'll be a big fan of their bunkers. If you're a golfer, you may want to take a free drop out of the bunkers, at least if you care about your club faces, and don't want to be too angry.

The greens were very shaggy and sluggish, but a lot of them have enough slope that if you are above the hole, it'll be moderately quick. Below the hole, you need to give it a big whack. As with most courses around these parts, it's a rare sight that you'll see anyone fix their ball mark on the green, so you have that to contend with too. I'm hoping they'll be cutting and rolling the greens sometime soon, because they are very healthy, and should be the star of the show out here. Instead they were the aging child star needing to get into rehab again.

Get me a crew and a lawn mower, I'll get this place in proper order in no time. Okay, not really, I can't even keep grass alive on my own lawn, but the point stands, they're doing something right out there, it's so close, they just need a little bit to get it polished up.
