The first thing I noticed was how green the course is. Really impressive. The layout here is nice, not overly challenging but respectable. The greens were in outstanding shape and were medium quick.
They have a very nice driving range, practice chipping area and bunker. The course is walkable (I did) but when the temps go up use a cart and enjoy yourself. I wish I didn't live 75 miles away or this course would be in my regular rotation.

Where does the time go? I checked and noticed I had not played here since May 2005. The course is pretty much as I remembered. The greens are the best part of this course. The fairways are hit or miss, some good, some needing attention. The tee boxes however need some help. Thin, many not level and lots of divots.

I don't want to be negative, but this is not a very attractive course, rather boring, with no "signature" type holes at all. I suspect it will be at least ten years until I return, if I'm still breathing then.

Walked on 1/16 as a single, they were pretty busy but very accommodating, let me go off the back by myself. Worked5-some in front let me play through on 11, didn't catch anyone until 16. Went off #1 behind two ladies, they let me through on 2, then on 5 paired up with a 3-some to finish up - overall POP was under 4 hours.

Fairways are mostly dormant with some spots pretty thin. Rough was the same with more bare spots, but that's normal for this course.

As usual, the greens are the best part of the course, held shots well, not a lot of ball marks considering the number of players, rolled well at a medium-fast to fast pace. Bunkers are more dirt than sand, but consistent.

Layout isn't anything special, but it does ask you to hit a good variety of shots. As long as the greens are good and the price reasonable ($24 incl. cart) it's definitely worth the price.

Before I can really give a fair review I would have to play it in the spring, the recent frost has left a lot of courses in the not the best shape. This course has an excellent location for mountain views. The greens were very nice, fairways and just the overall upkeep was just disappointing, but the views are majestic. Lots of dead trees, dead shrubbery. Spent most of the round talking about who runs the place. It is located next to the Riverside Memorial Cemetery, across from March AFB Housing, and next to some kind of training building that was shooting live ammo. If this place is be funded by the Government, its a waste of funds, if not, maybe it needs to ask for help. I can see that this once had to be a beautiful course. Showing respect for falling comrades and then a round of golf would be great way to spend a day. Holes 17 and 18 are very challenging. Especially 18, 552 Par 5, dog leg left.

Played here with sixpez early Saturday morning, 9/6. When I called to make the tee time, the pro shop guy said the course was in as good of condition as they could muster considering the drought, and that was pretty accurate. The course was surprisingly wet so early in the morning, which led to spongy, lumpy greens early on but once they dried out, they were in very good shape.

Conditions-wise, the greens are the highlight, with the fairways, rough and tee boxes all pretty spotty – good in some spots, pretty bad in others. Keith's drive on No. 10 was center cut but really sitting down in a fluffy spot of the fairway – a bit unfair for sure. I wasn't in a bunker but they looked very good.

Be sure to sign up for Donovan Daily emails to get good deals here. For $38 with cart, hot dog and a drink, this is a great deal. I've always enjoyed the layout and pace of play is hard to beat. We were done with 18 in 2:40.

This was supposed to be a mellow golf weekend for me, but somehow Itslikeimsayin and I ended up playing three rounds today! It started early this morning at General Old. We used a Donovan Daily email deal for $38 with cart, hot dog and soda. We played as a twosome, played through one group on the front and then caught up to another twosome on the last few holes. Ideal quick morning pace.

The course was in decent shape. Fairways are definitely a bit shaggy right now and plenty of thin spots, too, but mostly good. Off the fairways was more of a mixed bag with a lot of bare dirt areas amidst the trees as usual here. Tee boxes fine. Bunkers look to have recently been filled with new sand which is very deep, fluffy and soft. Unfortunately, the tractors leave some deep grooves and the ball easily sits down or plugs. Great to see fresh new sand, but there is such a thing as too soft. The greens were solid. Very, very soft and mushy early on. Footprints from the groups ahead of us (and our own as we walked on them) really left significant indentations that made for some bumpy rolls. Once they dried out a bit, though, that was not an issue.

It's been a few years since I played here, but always good for a cheap, convenient round. Quite long from the blue tees (especially when wet in the morning), but pretty forgiving layout. Indeed this is a pretty general, old military course. See what I did there?

Played on 8/5. The greens are good. They roll decent at medium speed but are on the firm side. The fairways are good. The rough is good along the fairways but is dirt beyond that. The tee boxes are fair to good. The bunkers are compacted sand and dirt. The course has good length with a decent layout. The course is very walkable. There is a grass driving range, chipping green, and putting green. The staff was very friendly.

Dashed out after work on the 29th, signed up at the desk for the emails and got the $15 email rate. Passed 3 groups within the first 6 holes, then had the rest of the course to myself. Teed off at 4:59 and the last putt on 18 fell at 7:14 - total time of 2:15! (including hitting some extra balls here and there to try different strategies on some of the holes).

Course is in pretty decent shape, much better than a couple years ago. Fairways are OK to good, no bare spots, lies were a little tight on most but consistent from hole to hole. Rough was mostly short and patchy with a few random lush areas here and there. Tee boxes were ok, most were level and not a lot of damage, even on the par 3's. Sand was more of a dirt/sand mix but was consistent so fairly playable.

Greens are by far the best feature - was almost like one course tee to green, then a different one altogether once you got there. Nicely maintained, medium-fast, rolled smooth, held shots well and not a whole lot of ball marks.

With these greens I'll be back. It's not going to make you forget about courses like Soboba or Goose Creek, but it's a decent challenge and definitely worth the money, even at the higher regular or twilight rates.

Greens - greens here are always good. Due to the heat, some holes were really watered down.

Overall the course condition was fair. I would rate it somewhere between a 5.5-6.5. A lot of people will rate it poorly because of the dirt road, however I think the dirt plays as part of the course. A bad shot off the fairway will make it difficult for players, as you will be hitting off the hard/bare dirt. Furthermore, it is a tough course for people who hook the ball. Most of the OB on the course is on the left, and once the ball head towards the left, it will bounce on the dirt and roll to OB. So players will need to plan and play accordingly.
