Tee'd it up on Tuesday, September 15 with Steve (sr129). Check in was smooth and easy and the usual Covid 19 precautions are in place. The guy behind the counter didn't mention that single cart rider costs more and we found out when we pulled up to the first tee and the starter told us we would have to share a cart. Really not that big of a deal for me and enjoyed Steve's company and the cool tunes he was playing. The course is in the always fantastic shape that is Goose Creek. Tee Boxes - Nice shape and playable. As we got further in the round the tee boxes and been mowed very tight making then look brown, but did not effect play at all. The only tee box that had anything to comment about was the white tee area on 17, the ground was very hard and it was difficult to get a tee in for a proper teeing height. Fairways - as always very nice and ball sat up nicely. There were a few GUR's but very few and did not effect anything. Rough - nice with very few thin area's and it just thick enough to make one think about club choice. Bunkers - Thin and firm, but still playable. Greens - Great shape with very few ball marks here and there. A couple of greens were a little bumpy but nothing to complain about. They were running Medium Fast. Practice Area - Nice all grass driving range with nice Bridgestone balls. There were no signs stating distances to flags which would have been nice, but I was only using the range to loosen up my swing. Note: don't use up all your good shots on the range like I did. The putting green was unusable when we got there because of the amount of grass clippings on it, but they were gone when we finished our round. POP - 4 hrs exactly. The spacing of groups here is really nice as they dont let you tee off untill the group in front of you is on the first green. We only waited on a few shots and the wait was not long at all. Never really saw the group behind us. I can't wait to get back out there and highly recommend this course.

Love the course, but won't be returning. First off, let me just say that I love this golf course. Easily in my top 10 in Southern California, including the many private courses I've played. I think the design is great and it's challenging enough for good players, but not crazy hard for average players or beginners. And I think the maintenance crew always does a great job considering it gets a good amount of play and is in a really hot area weather wise. I've always lived 60-90 minutes away, but have considered it worth the drive several times a year. That said, I won't be returning to this course nearly as frequently given the experience I've had in the last month. I played there in foursomes with friends on 8/8 and 8/29. I am thankful that they are making a big effort to keep pace of play fast, but they are not doing it the right way. On 8/8 we turned in about 1:45, but were harassed by the marshal on #5 tee because the green was clear slightly before we reached that tee. We were never out of position, and the group behind us didn't have to wait on us a single time. When we arrived to #10, the starter said something like "Okay so you guys turned in... (checked his clipboard)... never mind, you guys are fine, have a good time out there." Nevertheless, the marshal was on us nearly every hole. He scolded us for parking a cart a couple of feet off a path to get some shade in the 95 degree weather, and again harassed us about pace just short of the 15th green because we were still chipping and the group ahead was on the 17th tee. The group behind us was in the 14th fairway at the time. On our approaches to 18 we had to wait for the group ahead to clear the green (which we didn't mind given the great pace all day), and we finished in 3:50. We chalked this experience up to one grumpy marshal and booked again on 8/29. We were told by the starter that the time goal for the day was 2 hours for each 9, and 4 hours total. Perfect. I will admit that we got behind almost immediately in terms of position. By the 4th tee, we were a full hole behind, but doing fine on time, and not holding the group behind us up. The same marshal from 8/8 spoke to us on #6, and we told him we realized there was a gap, but it had been there from the start and we were paying attention to our time and the group behind. He said that was unacceptable and irrelevant and that we must catch the group ahead. We let him know we remembered him from a few weeks prior and told him we didn't care to speak to him anymore and that we'd try to speed up. We teed off on 10 and then the starter pulled up in a cart. He said our turn time was 2:05 and we must pick up the pace. We noted that we'd already teed off on 10, so the turn time was quicker than 2:05, and pointed down #9 showing him that the group behind was not on the hole at all, and not even on the 8th green. He just repeated that we must speed up. Near the 12th green the marshal harassed us yet again, because the group ahead was now almost 2 holes ahead. We reiterated that we were on pace for a 4 hour round and that the group behind us was also almost 2 holes behind us, so we were not causing any delay to anyone. Again he said that was irrelevant, but this time added that we may not want to continue to play at Goose Creek. On the 14th tee another marshal approached us with more of the same harassment. We noted that we were on pace for a 4 hour round and we might be a hole further ahead of our current position but not for the many conversations initiated by course staff. We finished the round in 3:59 and spoke to the pro shop about our treatment over the last two rounds (in which we played in a total of 7:49), but they just parroted the lines from the marshals. We waited to see when the group behind us finished, which was 27 minutes after we left the 18th green. (They played in a respectable 4:15 or so.) We plan to take the marshal up on his offer to play elsewhere. I'd rather play in 4:15 or 4:30 without the harassment than 3:50 or 3:59 at Goose Creek with their aggressive and irrational staff.

Played yesterday and teed off a little after 8. Pace of play was pretty good, we finished in a little over 4 hours. I agree with the last couple of reviews. The course is very nice right now and with this heat we have been getting they have still been able to maintain very good playing conditions.

There are some areas around the greens that are bare but those were marked with spray painted blue dots and we were able to take relief from it. Greens rolled well. Not the fastest I've seen here but still I'd say slightly above a medium pace. Just a few ball marks here and there but generally it looked like golfers had repaired their marks.

Fairways were pretty nice to hit from. Again with the heat there are going to be some bad spots but generally you'll have a good lie all day.

Rough isn't too bad and generally won't impact your club decision but I did have a lie that I decided not to try and muscle out and just hit a higher lofting club out to get back in play.

I seemed to find every bunker that was in the middle of the fairway (#3, #10, and #15). So much for aiming to the middle... Fairway bunkers a little firmer than the greenside bunker. The sand was a little firmer than I expected and I was in a greenside bunker too. They all did look pretty consistent too.

Even though I played poorly the course was very enjoyable and I'm looking to get back up here before the fall maintenance.

I always enjoy a round at Goose Creek. Teed off Tuesday at 7:50 and finished in just short of 4 hours. The course is in very good condition. The greens had been verticut so the green speed was medium but they rolled decent and played a little firm. The fairways had good coverage. The rough was good and at a playable height. The bunkers were good with plenty of sand and groomed. The tee boxes were good. The only real downside to the conditions were the unfilled divots due to the lack of sand bottles.

The SCGA Amateur Championships will be held at Goose August 17th - 20th (Monday-Thursday). Tee times may be hard to get if at all for those few days. Goose Creek has changed its single rider cart policy. Riders will be paired up in carts. For those who wish to ride single there will be and extra $10 charge. The staff was friendly.

Nothing but compliments for Goose Creek. Played here Friday, easy check-in. I suggest to arrive 1 hour prior to tee time, to take advantage of the Best practice facility. (very) Large practice greens, (very) large chipping area, pitching area, 20+stslls for range ball hitting. The course is in great shape. Tee boxes are firm and level. Fairways are nicely mowed and firm, but not hard. Rough is in good playable length (1"-2". Bunkers have good quality sand, I know, because I was in several. Greens are med-firm and fast. The putts are rolling very true to what to see. A must play!

Walked as a foursome at 6:20 am about 3:45 hrs. I haven’t played this course for 5 years are so and it’s way more expensive than I remembered but man it’s a great course. The layout is interesting. The greens fair but nicely contoured. The holes have nice variety of long and shot holes and strategic decision making. Really enjoyed it and worthy the money.

I played here Friday, 8:50 am. Weather was perfect for golf!... I haven't played here in over a year, course is in top-notch condition for July. The tee boxes are firm and level. Some unrepaired divots, but no sand given (Convid-19). The fairways are mowed tight with firm and minor divot issues (no sand). The rough is a playable 1", some a little deeper, but playable. The course throughout have strategically place bunkers, to make you play with "course management" or you may go long and end up in unranked bunkers (Convid-19). The greens are rolling true with medium-fast pace. Very true to the cup. Highly recommend to arrive early to use one of the best practice areas I ever seen for a public course. Large putting area. Large chipping area. About 25 stalls for the range. There is also a short pitching green... Really fantastic facility for golfers! I recommend playing here, if you can!

A very rare mid afternoon round for me, as I almost always play first thing in the morning. Not used to playing in the heat, and definitely not used to playing in 4 1/2 + hours. On the plus side, it was a plus to get some roll out which is not typical in the early morning wet fairways, plus the ball does travel further in the hot weather, that said, I think I'll stick with the early AM golf.

Course conditions are pretty much what weber2323 covered in his review. Greens rolled well, quicker than expected, but still receptive. This place is always in great shape, which is probably why they can command the price. I remember when the Goose was the least expensive in this area, but I guess because of the course quality and conditioning, it can be expected. Hard not to love playing here at what ever they charge.
