Played 6/18 afternoon match with Deepsea14, and met Greg and Troy, for a fun round in good weather. The 'goose' is in good all around shape and still a good value.
Counted 4 greens today that had edge repair(sanding) happening, that likely won't affect play. Greg did Texas wedge roll over it on hole 11 without issue. I saw a couple high sided fairway bunkers with sprigs of grass growing through the sand that won't come into play, but catches the eye. #17 tee box is still giggle firm, you giggle trying put you tee into it, but improving and wont affect play. A threesome comfortably caught us on 5, the Marshall with his clipboard was between 5 & 6 and reminded us that we were 1 minute off schedule. He's a big guy with a clipboard, a nice guy and on duty...it just gave me flashbacks of my football coaches ;-) We picked up our pace. He's doing his job to the benefit of all that play this course, kudos. Hole 18(Eleanor), wasn't kind to us today...but I still look forward to making a birdie or even a par someday.

After multiple and ongoing tries to arrange a GK Cup match (various frustrations with weekend only; I’m out of town that weekend; I already committed to my Men’s Club) I went out to Goose Creek as a solo on Friday, 6/5 at 1:27pm for $60. The weather lately is so strange – Wednesday 6/3 was in the low 90s here, but by Friday afternoon it was high 60s, scattered rain (IN JUNE!!) and blustery winds in the 1-2 club range. I was matched with a walking single and we were caught on the 7th tee (#16 – they started everyone on #10) by an amiable 2-some, and we enjoyed a casual round in 4+ hours. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered bad conditions at Goose in 20 years playing here, and today was no exception. Greens looked great, held shots, and rolled at medium+ speed. Fairway lies were great. Rough around fairways was pretty short and playable. Only one tee was obviously sloped – we played IV (Blue). [Don't get me started on tee 'numbering'!] I wasn’t in a bunker. No water on-course but we saw the cart girl 2-3 times. Bathrooms are open. Marshall was monitoring play and filling divots (HOMBRE!). Pro shop open. Range and putting green now open, but chipping green was closed today. You can remove the flag from the inverted cup, but the big center post/flag ring will repel your ball if you come in too hot. Does that count as 'in'? Goose is always recommended.

Played June 1st in the morning. The range and putting green are now open. I always enjoy coming out here. I've told a lot of my golf friends about this course over the past years. I just wish I lived closer. Everyone friendly, always great conditions, fast pop and what I feel is the best finishing hole (at least in the top three) in southern California.

Check in process was smooth, albeit outdoors. 15 minute tee time spacing and no driving range/practice facility open. Course was in good shape as always. No waiting on any hole and no one behind us. 4 hours flat PoP with our group walking.

Played yesterday afternoon. First time out in quite awhile. Had a great time.
no practice areas open before the round. They have a beverage cart service under an ez up tent near the first tee. We started off on the back nine. Course is in nice shape. The greens were a little bumpy, you could see the grass was a little long. It was hot, and pretty breezy, to me that's comfortable.
I wasn't expecting much from my play, after a nice drive to start the day I proceeded to hit my first iron shank of the day. Decided I would then count shanks for the day instead of three putts!!
Playing the back nine into the wind coming in, the 18th was going to be a lay up for me with a putt for par. Ended up two putt bogey, I was happy.
Bunkers were wind blown without rakes, but an easy escape knowing how the ball might react.
Tees and fairways were excellent. Sorry to not have any repair sand mix for the fairways.
The rough was lush.

Love the course, and so happy to be back out there. 87 not a great score but went home smiling.

1st day back in operation. They had someone at the gate verifying tee times to restrict entrance and unnecessary gathering. Check in at outside table was easy. Everyone wearing masks. The range and practice area is currently closed. Walkers allowed along with solo cart riding.

Tee boxes/fairways/rough were great all around. Greens were 50/50 still recovering from maintenance. Greens were bumpy and slow. No pins, the cups were all put in the center of the greens.

Marshals were out monitoring play, handing out water and saw them rake some of the bunkers.

Cant really complain it was nice to be out again. Finished in about 3.5 hours.

The starter did mentioned they are booked solid until middle of next week.

Played on the Tuesday the 17th. Course is in fabulous shape right now. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are in great shape. This Course goes into aerafication mode at the end of this Month so play this Inland Empire gem before the 30th of March. I really enjoy the practice facility here which I truly believe is the best in the area.

Played the the whites at Goose Creek on 3/14 at 12:14 tee off. Arrived and parking lot was only 1/3 full! Uncle Jim and son in law Vic, both agreed our last minute plan to dominate the goose, was going as planned. Tee boxes: all great shape except hole 17...tough to set ball and tee height into hard turf without giggling at each other! Fairways: all in great winter shape. Rough: all in good growth ratio to fairway and AARG. About a 2" average depth, just right to hit recovery shots from. Bunkers: of course, 1/3 to 1/2 of these were with standing rainwater and firm wet sand...yet easy to hit pick and sweep shots from. AARG: areas around greens; all chips, flops and pitch shots are capable to execute from easily. Greens: they were all slightly slower than the big practice green between the pro shop and range(fast/med). We confirmed this by hole #5...they all rolled med/med, and were predictable if you are ready to adapt quickly. I putted only 4 strokes above my summertime average of (34). We had slight showers on holes 12 & 14. We let a 4-some of young guns play through us on hole 9 to 10. We let a two-some play through us on 12 as we took refuge from showers. We then let another two-some play through on 14 as we sat under trees during light showers. Pro-shop desk, and starter(Bryce) were all helpful to make sure our starting slot was on time and without drama of any kind. Bryce(starter) was right...the Rough and AARG were never more the 2 - 2.5 in deep; I could have left the Ginty in the truck and therefore carried a 55/56 wedge instead. Parking lot was less than 1/4th full by end of round at 4:30...booyah, y'all could have ventured out and played today! ;-)

Played Friday March 6th at 725. Check in fast and friendly. Walking rates for seniors went up $3 to $45. Course is in very good shape, we were walking down the first fairway and it was really, really nice. Tee boxes were a little hard, again broke 2 plastic unbreakable tees, fairways great, was in 2 green side bunkers and sand was acceptable. Greens were fast but once you figured out the speed they were score able, I had 30 putts. We had small ballmarks to repair. POP was so so 353, there was a 3 some in front of us with a 4 some in front of them. On 7 Marshall came up to us on tee box and asked if it was slow. Then on hole 8 we didn't know what was going on but there were multiple carts in fairway and #8 took some time, well Marshall must have suggested that the 3 some play thru the 4 some, the 3 some took off and we were behind the some 4 some, we were 4 walkers and pushed them on the back.
