Since I hadn't seen anyone review recently, I played today on what turned out to be warm conditions. Nice pace of play in a little over 4 hours. The course has dried out well and the fairways rolled out nicely. The greens were really firm and it was tough to hold good iron shots making it much more tricky to get anything close. Go play!

Played Goose on 1/12 with POP of 3.5 hours for 16 holes. Starting pouring so hard on 17, and angled, that our 3 groups called it. Soaked through our clothes. After the rain calmed, 2 of the groups went back and finished but I had to leave. Not much to add to previous reviews. Dormant fairways? Not here. Everything about this place was top notch as always. The greens were a hair slow, running medium vs. the usual medium/fast but given the rains to be expected. Unfortunately I have to comment on the Marshall again. Not only were we allowed to tee off 20 mins early because no one was there, but after our three groups there was a 2 hole gap (I counted). He still hawked us about taking our time and being slow and that the group in front was already in the next fairway. He really needs to calm down. Despite his annoyance, this is still a must play.

This course has become an even better place to play since last year since they now have nice clean sand in the bunkers that make it possible to get up and down. You might even have a better chance out... Continue »

This course has become an even better place to play since last year since they now have nice clean sand in the bunkers that make it possible to get up and down. You might even have a better chance out of the bunkers than out of the rough. Today's round was at 3 hours 45 minutes. Got out early so the wind was no factor. What a great way to start the New Year.

It’s not like it’s a hidden gem as it’s so often reviewed on Gk, but dang it’s hard to get over how good Goose Creek is. Was a little bit pricey at $92 for a Sat am round on a windy day but course conditioning is as good as it gets for a public course in the IE. Make that anywhere. Nice green fairways, well tended bunkers with soft sand and smooth greens all throughout. I always enjoy the ample fairways and subtle difficulty of this course, especially on and around the greens. Attentive Marshall ensured good pace of play (<4 hrs) and we saw the bev cart several times during our round. Had nice cup of chili after the round. The consistency at which GC delivers a good product every time we play there is something I wish would be replicated at other area courses. Hats off!

Played Tues dec 18th at 716, check in always friendly, was told we were starting on #10 today and because I am probably OCD it took my brain a hole or 2 to adjust. We were a walking 4 some following a riding 4 some and POP was good at 335. Had issues with the greens last week with grass shavings left on the greens, NO issues this week, course and greens were great.

Played Tues dec 11th at 733, check in friendly as usual, cold morning, we were a 4 some walking, POP was 348, we have done better but waited a little on the front 9, pace picked up on back nine, course was in real good shape except for the greens, they were nice grass, not many ball marks, but I am "assuming" something happened to the mover because there were grass shavings all over the greens, this was picked up by the ball and really affected the speed and break, this is very unusual for goose, we will be back next Tuesday and hopefully it will be better.

Played the Goose with my monthly group at 10am on Saturday morning, 12/1/18, on a cool sunny day with very little wind, a couple days after SoCal got some pretty good rain. We played lift/clean/place, but really didn’t need to as the course absorbed the rain very well and was in great condition, as usual. Greens and surrounds were pretty firm and chips and pitches could run out. Greens rolled pretty smoothly at medium+ speed. Tees were in good shape; I wasn’t in any sand. Fairway lies were good, although a few holes had not been mowed and lies there were a little hairy. Rough was generally good, starting out pretty wet from rain/condensation but drying out as the day went on. Saw the cart girl a few times, and marshals frequently. Course was pretty busy Saturday morning and POP wound up being 5 hours.

Played after a good amount of rain the day before and the course was in great shape. Greens were a bit bumpy but that's to be expected. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Overall the course was fun and good. Our tee time was 11:48 AM and we finished at 4:45 PM. 5 hour rounds are just no fun nor should they be acceptable but for some reason So Cal courses have put the bar so low by using the 4.5 your round as their "suggested pace of play" that when one complains about pace of play they talk about being on schedule and stuff that makes it worse. Five hour rounds aren't fun no matter what. Slow play sucks........

Played Monday 8/19 teeing off at 7:50 and finishing in 3.5 hours. Traffic Warning: On weekday early mornings driving north on the 15 traffic will likely slow shortly north of the 91 due to heavy freeway construction. The last 2 drives from Orange County have taken about 15 extra minutes than normal. Back to the course. The greens were in good condition. They rolled smooth with medium/fast speed and had a little roll out on mid to long shots. The fairways were in mostly great condition. A few areas were a little thin but still provided decent lies. The rough was mostly good with a few thin spots. The bunkers early in the morning are fairly wet and a bit compacted but playable and well groomed. The tee boxes are good, mostly level, with a few thin spots.

Goose is a fun track to play that is challenging without beating the golfer up. The condition are typically good or better. My experience with the staff has always been pleasant.
