Sunday 6/3 210 pm tee time $50 w/cart. Played as twosome, POP only 4 hours. Toyota Cup Challenge was going on as we arrived hosted by Corey Pavin. As always the wind starts to blow after 1pm, 15-20 mph. The Goose overall condition was pure, tee boxes firm, cross mowed fairways and by far the fastest greens I've put on this year. If you can't get up and down around these greens, you're in for a long day. Love the Goose, best layout in the IE.

Played Goose Creek Thursday 5/31/18, going off on time at 3:29pm. Didn’t come up on a group in front of us until 8th hole. Played in 3 hrs 45 min, great pace of play for a twilight round. Course is in great shape as always, greens rolling true med/fast. Fairways lush, sand traps looked good wasn’t in any so that was good. You can’t find a better course for the rate they charge, I live in South Orange County and I’ll make that drive any day to play Goose Creek.

. First time playing with Weber, third time with Nickesquire and sw second with MrKich. Play was after an scga amateur qualifier. First time playing here. It's a great parkland layout. Giving you plenty of room for error but also punishing you for it. Trees, bunkers in play on tee shots . The areas around the greens were very sloped. Saw many shots almost reach the green or reach the green just to roll off or go back down. A good shot on the green would hold. The bunkers looked great. The one in was in, was fluffy and I was out and almost on the green except the slope rejected me. The greens were rolling good. Tee boxes in great shape. A few were really hard and made the tees a bit hard to push in. The practice area was extensive. I will definitely drive back out there. Another Great GK Guru outing!!

Played Goose Creek today, Saturday 5/26/18, going off on time at 915am, joined by my brother and paired with Mike and Bob, and we had an enjoyable round. Weather was overcast and cool with almost no wind, which makes a big difference here, especially on the back nine. Paid $80 on the course website; good greeting and info from desk and starter. Great practice area, but they need a clock out there somewhere. Saw the cart girl a few times and a marshal was driving around, but we had no POP issues, finishing in just over 4 hours. Recent reviews capture that the course is in good shape. Green speeds were consistent through the round, which is great. My only complaint is that the first 3 greens were pretty firm, and chips and pitches ran well out. We started playing for that and then greens were inconsistent in terms of firmness, so on one the ball hit firm and rolled, on the next checked up quick. Strange boundary markings – left of 3 is red, but first half of #4 is white stakes, then 2nd half is red. Right of 12 now marked as OB! Definitely recommended.

Course is in its usual prime condition. Fairways,rough, bunkers in great shape. I was not in a bunker but some of them looked to have new white sand.
The greens were smooth and running quick. They held good shots very well.
The staff as usual were friendly and helpfull.

Played Fri may 25th, had a 722 tee time but apparently it didn't get in the books, desk knew us and got us out between groups, great service, was told by the starter that the greens were rolled this morning, so we decided not to shoot for the pins and play short and the ball would release, definitely the smart move, greens were fast, rolled very nice. As always tee boxes and fairways were great shape, I have complained about the traps before but they were really nice, probably the best I have seen them here. POP was good at 3.55 4 of us walking.

Played 5-15-18 with GK Gurus Sparky14, 24hourgolf, and SR129 , teeing off around 1:30 and finishing in a little under 4 hours. Tee boxes were in good shape, level with good coverage and a little firm. Fairways were in good shape, cut tight with a lot of roll out, semi-lush with nice lies. Rough was in nice shape, not to long but healthy with some grab to it. Was in two fairway bunkers both of which were semi firm. Greens were in great shape rolling medium speed , firm and mostly smooth. Overall course is in real good shape.

Played in the guru outing with Nick, Mike, and Gus. Had a great round in excellent condition.

It’s hard to add much more praise to the course after the reviews left for the outing but I will add that overall it was a pleasure to play from driving range to tee to green. The practice greens were running at the same speed as the course. The greens on the course were fast and firm which were a challenge of their own.

All around the conditions and service were impressive. Can’t wait to play there again.

Played The Goose Tuesday afternoon with the GK Gurus, teeing off about 1:45pm with JGK, larryq2001 and breangolf for a fun afternoon on a pretty good weather day, albeit with a steady west-to-east wind that both helped and hurt at times. Great to see these guys bomb the ball from the blues, while I played the whites, which were in great condition and were barely used on the day.

In short, course conditions were excellent all-way around, and highly recommend playing right now.

White tees were cut short, and were very level. Only issue was to be able to push a tee down enough into the dirt a few times!

As for the firmness of the rest of the course, let me just say that I LOVED the firm fairways, aprons and greens! As a short-hitter, my drives got plenty of roll, maybe 50 yards+ on some holes. On a handful of mis-hits from the fairways, the ball still rolled out enough so that I didn’t lose too much position from the distance of a well-hit shot – probably lost just two clubs at worst.

The one fairway I missed all day, ended up in the right fairway bunker in the middle of the 10th hole fairway. The wind helped and hurt on the same drive! The sand was a little looser than I’d prefer, but got out OK and squeaked out a par. Found the massive greenside bunker left of #17 green, and the sand was perfect, with a nice soft layer with about 1” depth to firm sand. Still, managed to murder the ball from 100ft away. Got a very lucky bounce, and somehow, it popped out of the trap and not too far off the green.

As reported by others, the greens were very firm. I did see light ball divot damage and in contrast to most others, I thought the greens were mostly a medium-fast past pace, based on my recent experiences at Black Gold and The Crossings. The ball would easily run past the hole on medium-range and any downhill putts if not careful. But, did have a number of 4-foot putts where a firmer stroke was ideal to hold the lines. They rolled very true, but we were all fooled by mis-reads a time or two...or, was it the wind?

After the round, in addition to discussion about the great day and very good course conditions, there was some debate about if the blue tees were placed beyond the normal blue tee markers. Well, according to the information at a California Amateur tournament website, they were indeed on 7/18 holes. They were longer on #s 3, 4, 8, 10, 14, 15 and 17. The tournament blue tees for the day played to about 6839 yards, v. 6556 yards normally. The course rating was 72.4 v. 71.0 and slope was 129 v. 126. So, be sure to make the adjustment when you post your scores! :)

So, you weren’t crazy to think the blue tees played longer than normal, though the jury may be out on if you were crazy to play them ;-)

Finally, I really love the practice facility here. Got in enough short-game chipping/pitching practice to make a modest difference in the round. Have previously made the trip from Huntington Beach to spend a few hours practicing my short-game, including the sand bunker left of the tees. Highly recommend right now!
