Played with sixpez on Sunday, April 6. Course was in very good shape. Like sixpez mentioned, bunkers weren't great, but otherwise nothing to complain about. Greens were pretty smooth and medium fast, although not completely pure. Fairways were great. I hadn't been here for probably 15-20 years and the course has matured a lot in that time and is even better now. I definitely won't wait that long to return again.

Note: I'm wondering if the previous review to mine (claiming to have played April 9) was supposed to be for a different course. As far as I know, Oak Valley was closed to public play all week while hosting the PGA Tour Canada Q-School. Also, the rough was not grown out like described in that review, unless it grew considerably in three days time.

Having only played here once before, I've been looking for an opportunity to come back. This is definitely one of the best courses in the Inland Empire. Itslikeimsayin and I booked a "hot deal" time for $36 at 12:37, so that was a great deal for this place. Unfortunately, when we got there, the place was a madhouse. They had a big tournament group still going off from the morning that was overbooked. Also, the course is hosting the Canadian PGA Tour Q-School this week, so there were a lot of guys out there getting in their practice round. As a result, they were running about 45 minutes late. The starter was confused and agitated (I can't blame him) and the guys in the pro shop were not giving much direction to anyone, so it was a free-for-all around the first tee. Amongst the chaos, I think we actually got off earlier than we were supposed to, but it was still about 1:15 by the time we teed off. Once on the course, though, the pace was decent (about 4.5 hours) and the weather was perfect, so it ended up okay despite a rough start.

The course was in very good overall condition. Tee boxes and fairways were great. Rough mostly good throughout. Greens good and rolling at medium speeds. My only gripe is the bunkers. I found a few and they were all very thin and crusty.

I was glad to get back and I enjoyed the layout even more than I remember. It's a fun, beautiful and challenging course with every hole offering something a little different than the last. Great course on an unfortunate day with all the chaos, but I will definitely be back sooner than later.

Tee boxes were lush and level, all 18 of them. the fairways were flush, lush, green and medium to firm on some of them. if your tee shot finds the short grass, it will run. the 1st cut and the rough area are very well kept. majority of the traps are consistent with exception of 2 holes from what i remembered. the greens were in excellent shape. rolled true and smooth even though i know they were recently punched but filled in very nicely. i had 11 ONE putts, most ever!! POP was great, just a little over 4 hours on Sat. this course is worth every penny. Most definitely will return soon

Played 4/22 super twilight at 4:30pm on the way home from the outlets. Was only planning on playing 9 holes but the course was so empty that I decided to play the full 18. This is my second time playing this course since it's been years since my first time. Pace of play was 2 1/2 hours. Amazing. Ran into a foursome around hole 6 but they let me play through and didn't run into anyone again until I got to the 17th hole. Didn't really care too much for my score as I was trying to get through the whole round before sunset and by the time I was finished, I still had 15-20 minutes to spare. For anyone who has yet to play this course, it as an absolute must if you're ever around the area. I prefer this track over Morongo, but that's just my opinion.

Now onto the conditions: Tee boxes were leveled and lush. Fairways were a little thin and dry, so balls would run forever if hit. Rough isn't an issue here unless you're way off on your drive. Was in a couple of bunkers, they were nice and fluffy. Greens were hard and fast only because it was at the end of the day. There were issues with unfixed divots but that's not the courses fault. I'm definitely going to make more of an effort to play here several times a year. I didn't shoot my normal score, but I didn't care as I was enjoying my round so much. See you again, soon!

Greens were hard to read and fast. Easy 3 putts (><;). enjoyed the course challenge and nice layout. They have a real good hotdog! Pro shop starter need to be more friendly LOL. Long drive from South Bay area but I will be back to Oak Valley soon.

The greens aren't super smooth yet, but winter ground conditions have the greens rolling super quick...probably around 11-12. The service here always is good, green fees are fair, and it has an excellent grill. This is a tough course, especially when the wind is up. There are many forced carries, so if you can't carry a tee ball 200 yards or so, you either should move up a tee box, or consider playing somewhere else.

Made it out to Oak Valley today for the first time. 12:00 tee time for $45 as a single through GN. Paired up with a very nice threesome and we tee'd off right on time. Course was in pretty nice shape although one word could be used to describe the entire course = firm. Tees (blue) were level and lush. Fairways were firm and fast. Not too much divot damage and where there were divots, they all seemed to be filled with sand. Well done staff and fellow players! Rough was juicy in spots and dormant in others. Bunkers were thin and firm. Greens were VERY firm today. About an 11 on the stimp. They were fast and rolled pretty true. Some small bumps here and there but nothing to really complain about. If the flag is in the middle, play to the front yardage and if it's the back, play to the middle. If it's in front, better have a really high ball flight. I found the layout to be a nice mix of short and long. Narrow and wide with plenty of strategically placed bunkers that made you think about your shots. I really enjoyed the course and will be back soon. POP was 4.5 hours due to a slow 4some in front of us. Marshall asked them to speed up midway and they did for a couple of holes but then they fell back into their slow ways. Other than that, I had a blast!

Greens- smooth, lightning fast, quite firm. Few divot marks. Lots of undulation, every put outside of 3 or 4 feet will have a break or two in it. The putts pile up here!



Ok, first I would like to comment on the pace of play here. It is always wide open it seems, I'm thinking because it is such a difficult course. This course will humble you. It's the greens that make this course a challenge. The layout isn't at all intimidating, it's just that your approach shots need to land in the right places in order to stick the green and stay. If you're on the green in regulation within 20ft you got a good chance for par, but it is very easy to 3 putt on these greens even if you are a great putter.
Fairways are great, I'm honestly impressed with the upkeep of this course. Very lush, very few divots, I'm thinking its because of the low volume of players here. No deadpan areas anywhere! Also, 90* cart rule, which I believe helps in maintaining fairways(no driving down the middle of fairways all day everyday).
Not only are the fairways lush, but the rough where it is intended to be, can be very penalizing. On this course if you want to have a chance, keep it in the fairway.
Now for the negative: the bunkers are not the best around. Most are quite hard but green side bunkers are much better collectively than fairway bunkers, which lets me know they are aware but are prioritizing correctly.
Btw, I can't end this review without acknowledging the thoughtful and helpful staff. A young gentleman course marshal even took out time to help me locate my ball(shot along tree line ricocheted off branch, didn't see where it landed,lol) that landed in the rough. I was prepared to take a drop near the tree, but didn't have to thanks to the marshal(wish I had gotten his name), saved me a stroke!
All in all, this is a great course that is very challenging and well kept with very helpful staff. Oak valley is slowing but surely overtaking Oak Quarry as my favorite place to play, partly because it is more reasonably priced(cheaper just doesn't sound right,lol), but mostly because it is just simply in better shape tee to green. Go play it!
