Played here today with a 10:50 TeeOff.com "Deal" time for about $57 after promo code. Check in was smooth and friendly. They said I'd be paired with a threesome but a fivesome of what I assume were members headed to the tee a few minutes before 10:50. Then a minute or two later, my threesome showed up, so we played behind a fivesome all day. Let a single through on No. 4 and he was able to play through the fivesome. Overall POP was around five hours. Beautiful day with chilly air and decent breezes.

Conditions are good, highlighted by really fast, fun greens. They are smooth, fast, and accept full shots really well. A few greens were over-the-top fast. On the 14th hole, I hit a shot from the front bunker to the back of the green. Then after I'd exited the bunker, I looked up and my ball rolled back about 25 feet down the slope toward the hole. Then on the next hole, I left my birdie putt from about 25 feet about two inches short, but it didn't stop at the hole and rolled back a good 15 feet. It was funny in the moment but would've been frustrating and too extreme if you're taking your game really seriously. Finally, on the next hole, I hit a good chip that took a break above the hole and came to rest about four feet above the hole. Then as I was walking to the green, suddenly my ball starting rolling again and went in the hole for a chip-in birdie! So you get the picture... greens are crazy fast in spots. And maybe more thought needs to go into where holes are cut. Fairways have good coverage but a mix of grasses, providing mostly good lies. The par-4 12th hole was mostly CPO and it seems they're having a hard time growing grass well on the low-lying portions of that fairway. Rough varied from just a little longer than the fairways to some that was about 4-6 inches deep. Blue tee boxes were good, not great. All the bunkers I was in (two greenside, one fairway) were really nice.

This was my first time here. The course was more interesting than I expected, although I didn't love it. It's solid. It reminded me of a nicer, full-grown Jurupa Hills in spots. The first hole is a little funky, a dogleg left par 4 with water on the left and trees blocking anything left, so it almost forces a draw for the right-handed player right out of the gate. Three of the four par 3s played almost the exact same yardage (195-205), which gets a little repetitive. The course looked great in today's bright sunlight and a few holes on the back nine provide some cool views of Riverside. Recommended at deal prices and a nice addition to the IE golf scene. Nice carts. No beverage cart.

Played in the GM/GK outing on 5-1-23 with a 10am shotgun start, and finishing in a little under 5 hours. Tee boxes were in decent shape, cut tight and mostly level with some minor divot damage on par threes. Fairways were in good condition, semi-lush with good lies and decent roll out. Rough was not that much longer than the fairways, and in about the same shape. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that had a good layer of nice white sand. Greens were very disappointing, slow and bumpy with the Poa Ana being in full bloom, so not to many putts would stay online. Short track with a decent layout. Okay for a lower end private course.

Second outing here at Canyon Crest CC. Our first CCCC Golf Moose / Greenskeeper.org Private Course event was on 12/19 … little over 5 months later a much better experience. No golf cart issues, F & B services available as well as clubhouse restrooms. More staff to assist and better playing conditions. When they get their new carts projected by the end of this month, they’ll be able handle bigger outings and more smoothly.

CCCC is fun track that is not that long but not a push over either. The layout is excellent for all skill levels. Fairways had full coverage and were mostly lush. Rough was not really rough, just a little longer than the fairways but mostly lush with some patchy grass here and there. Bunkers in great shape with quality white sand. Tee boxes in good shape mostly level. The only negative about the day was that the greens were badly in need of a cut/roll. They are poa greens with blooms already present so I can imagine they have to stay on top of cuttings to keep them smooth. Unfortunately for us they were bumpy due to being too long. It was really fun round teeing it up with GKers rgm2525, jerry64 and his friend Zonzie. Thank you GKer kassper7 for making it out as well. Love seeing GKers at these outings.

My first time playing or running an event at Canyon Crest Country Club 12/19. The golf course over exceeded my expectations as far as fun layout, with new bunker sand and overall very good condition for December. The tournament services on our day were below expectations with improvements coming for our next outing there … like new carts and plenty to go around, transportation up and down the steep hill to the driving range, and better prepared when we arrive.

Overall still a fun event with a great price, beautiful December weather, fun private course in good shape.

I walked the course with GKers rgm2525, sparky14 and Kramnetto2. Great guys. We were told the course is walkable, and it is, but it very hilly so be ready to take it on. Greens in very good shape, rolling mostly smooth, mid/fast and holding shots. Fairways were semi-dormant bermunda/kikuyu turf providing full coverage with exception to some thin/bare small areas found some of the holes. Rough, same as the fairways but a couple inches higher, mostly full coverage. Bunkers, all new white sand, look beautiful and play very well. Tee boxes, all in good shape, mostly level and fun to play.

We’ll be back from another outing here in the Spring after they get their new carts.

Well worth the $59 to play a course I would never get to play. Thanks to MR. Johnny for taking care of getting things going. Course was in the shape of most fair public courses not as good as a Country Club should be, but this is a Country Club struggling to survive. Being over 70 and a short hitter the white tees, a little over 6200 yards played closer to 6500 so it was a little long for me. The one short coming was the lack of carts, I heard they had several under repair. Hope to see more outings this side of LA in 2023, would recommend when being set up the number of players be limited a little more.

12/19 GK/GM outing on a very pleasant late fall day in the IE. Had been about 30 years since playing here less than a handful of times back in the day so nothing was fasmiliar.In talking with the staff I got the impression that the club is in a stated of flux with some on going staff changes notably the suprintendent after a brief stint. Also staff indicated that conditins would be mixed as "the end of summer was really hard on the course" and there was no overseed this season as the goal is to return kikuyu to prominence. Also there had been issues with the greens that were being attended to. It also seemed apparent that the club does not host many outings as there were not enough carts for every one, the bar and dining room were not available and the snack bar was also closed. Driving range has limited stalls so cooperation and patience was required. Staff was very friendly and worked hard to pull off the event. Fairways were generally ok with some being quite nice and others looking more like a public course. Lies therefore varied from good to thin. Rough was cut down so very playable. Tees had adequate cover but a few were sloped and some appear to need a rebuild as they have settled since the 1968 opening. Bunkers looked to have been renovated were well groomed and had nice fine but compacted sand with fairway bunkers more on the firm side which I prefer. Greens overall played better than they looked as some had some damage and a few had areas of repair. They were fast and all had more slope than was easily deciphed. Again after 50 plus years the on going influence of terraine and topography. I gave up keeping track of 3 putts and really celebrated any inside of 4 foot that i made. #15 was especially diabolical to the point of ridiculous as anything above the hole that got an inch past the hole settled at 15 feet and even below the hole a putt could stop a foot away and roll back to 10 feet. I got so lucky that my 2nd putt got about 2 inches past the hole came back and teetered on the edge before falling in--kinda a tiger moment but for a bogey. I would like to have seen a set of markers for old guys laid out between the white and the reds. Still had fun enjoyed the round with Kris, Scott, and Dan. Pop was about 445 without waiting genedrally arriving at our balls as the group ahead moved on. until our last 3 holes. Guess it was mostly all those extra putts and time spent trying to get better reads. Overall a good outing, not the conditions or ammeneties often found at a private CC but a good price for a setting that is mostly unavasilable. I would do it again for sure.

Participated in the Golf Moose event on Monday December 19th. Joined Scott, Chris, and a fourth gentleman whose name fails me at the moment. My apologies. Really conflicted on this review as I appreciate the work Johnny does at Golf Moose and GK. Price was only $59 and I should have lowered my expectations at that price point. That said, it was a beautiful day playing golf with some good dudes.

The layout is interesting and it would help to play it a few times. Conditions were fine with the greens being the highlight. Tee boxes were generally very thin, occasionally just dirt. Fairways were generally thin dormant Bermuda, acceptable to hit from and giving good roll-out. Rough was pretty uneven but rarely very penal. Bunkers were a mixed bag, some good, some fair. As I mentioned greens were the highlight and if you were above the hole - forget it (very slick).

The organization of the event by the Club was very poor. Clubhouse closed, only restroom available was by driving range until you got on course. They didn't have enough carts forcing some players to walk. Huge respect to Johnny GK for taking one for the team and walking. Ran out of range balls long before it was time to mount up.

For $59 I feel I got reasonable value, but throwing in close to 2.5 hours of driving and I wouldn't bother playing here again unless it was free. If I did live close by at $59 I would do it again.

Played an enjoyable round with Dan, Gary and Chris here in the Golf Moose outing this morning. The facility reminded me of a few courses from the past and the layout of St. Marks CC and the now closed Carmel Highlands. The outing was a little overwhelming as there were not enough carts for the entire group. The carts did have gps but it took us awhile to get the thing to start working. The tee boxes were all good size with level lies and good coverage. The rough was cut fairly short with much of it being kikuyu. It was pretty easy to locate your ball and advance it if it wasn't covered with leaves. The fairways all had total coverage with many ties lies which could be difficult to play from at times. The traps were all very well groomed and the green side traps had real nice white sand. There were a few holes where the traps really came into play, especially if you had not played the course before. The greens varied from really nice to a little below par. All of the greens were very quick with slope coming into play on most putts. Most of the greens were real smooth but there were a few that had a thin spot or two and were a little on the bumpy side. The greens ranged in size from fairly small to rather large throughout the the round with slope adding to the difficulty factor. The front nine was much easier with pretty straight holes that were all fairly flat. The back nine is where the fun starts with a few blind shots and dog legs on the par fours/fives. I never knew that there was a course in this area - probably because it is a private club. Speaking with a couple of the employees I heard that the course is looking for a super as they presently do not have one. I really liked the layout of the course and would think about a membership if I lived in the area. Thanks to the members for allowing us to play their course.

Took a "sick day" yesterday to go out and support the CBU baseball team in their annual alumni golf outing. I try not to miss this event each year as it is awesome to see some of the guys and catch up on old times.

This year we played at Canyon Crest Country Club. I had played this course one time in the past so I kinda of knew what to expect with the course. If you like traditional, old school golf courses, then this is the place for you. Some of the holes are tree lined (as you would expect with an older course) while other holes are lined with homes. The course pretty much flat so I think this would not be too difficult of a course to walk. There are a few holes on the back 9 that will make you out of breath though so beware of that.

The greens were outstanding. The were as smooth as glass and rocket fast compared to come of the courses I have been playing recently. A missed putt here could not be blamed on the course conditions. I think the greenskeeper was in a bit of a bad mood that morning though because most of the pins were in some pretty tough areas.

The fairways were in pretty decent shape. The all had good coverage. We were playing a scramble format so we were able to pick out lies but, for the most part, I don't think there were too many bad lies to be had out there.

The rough was a little rough. It was patchy and really wet in most areas. Some of the holes were just simply mud on the outer edges. The middle of the course is in a bit of a drainage area so I am not sure if it was still trying to dry out from the recent rains or if it was just from over watering. Either way, we did have a few shots from the rough and in some areas, we struggled to find some good areas to hit from within a club length.

We were in one greenside bunker on #2 and the sand was great. I cannot comment on any other bunkers on the course but visually, they all looked to be in about the same condition.

All in all, a fun day on the course. Personally, this is not my favorite type of golf course but that is just my preference. Others may love the old school feel and layout. I would come back and play again. I would definitely recommend that you give this course a try if you are invited (this is a fully private club, afterall).
