Played here with Rat-Patrol today using his UnderPar voucher, 2 for $59 including free replay. It was good anytime on Sundays, so we chose today and had a 7:52 tee time. When I arrived, the driving range was packed with people and thick fog blanketed the first hole, so I really feared there had been a fog delay and it was going to be a mess. Thankfully that wasn’t the case; it turned out there was a tournament beginning at 8:00, so we got out right before it.

The first 18 we were paired with another twosome and POP was a bit slow, around 4:45. We got back out immediately as just a twosome and the pace was much better for the afternoon round, around 3:45 including several holes where we were stuck behind a fivesome until they let us through.

Conditions were quite good throughout. The greens had some ball marks and pock marks here and there, but were mostly smooth and medium fast. They were definitely faster in the afternoon than the early morning. The greens were pretty soft and full shots stopped quickly. Fairways were good throughout, although not great. Some seemed a tiny bit shaggy, but solid throughout. Rough was lush in most spots and some of the greenside rough was sticky and tough. Tee boxes were good all day. The weak spot were the bunkers, at least from my experience. I think I was only in one and it was hard packed with very little loose sand beneath the ball.

This was my first time playing here, and I loved the course. The 10th hole is flat-out gorgeous. The par 3s are all beautiful in one way or another. Copy and paste this url to view my pictures from today: https://goo.gl/NuunXv

Played on July 25th, this course was purchased by the Indian reservation sometime in the last year or two and they have pumped money into the course it self. I love the layout of this course but it was always in 50/50 condition. This time after some rumors of better quality i decide to make the trek down to valley center. Wow was this a treat i believe that the quality is now top notch for san diego. the fairways were lush the greens were nice all though slow. This is by far the nicest course in the area even better than maderas and crossings. We tee'd off at 7am right on time and never saw the groups in front or behind which is amazing for a Sat morning. price was 60 standard rate which after playing was worth it. only down side of the course is that it can get tight on some holes with long brush around the edges filled with snakes. I went one foot into the brush heard a rattle and ran away. I definitely recommend playing this course any time.

Played Thursday 6/11. Teed off at 8:50 and finished in 4 hours. The greens are in good condition. They rolled well and played a little firm. The fairways for the most part are in good condition but there are a few areas were the grass is thin. The rough, bunkers and tee boxes are all in good condition. The layout of the course is very enjoyable. There is a nice variety of holes with good par 3s. The course is very walkable but there is a bit of a walk between 14 and 15. There is a grass driving range and large putting green. The staff was very friendly.

I played on Memorial Day at 7:36 on an UnderPar deal which was $59 for two, with cart and free replay (we only played 18).

So, this is my first time at Woods Valley since the ownership change, and I was excited to get out there and see how the improvements were coming. However, as soon as I walked up to the counter to check in, the guy behind the counter says (verbatim), "Let me guess, an UnderPar deal? I hate these things. It was the stupidest idea to allow these on a holiday". Well, good morning to you too sir. The other twosome in my group then proceeds to try to check in, with UnderPar as well, and the guy then says, we only have you booked as a twosome. Now, I specifically made the tee time for four, even remembered the name of the person who helped me on the phone and still, the guy continues to rant about how they are booked and it's our fault and we might just be out of luck. Seriously? It was quite possibly the worst service/attitude I've experienced at a course. Just not the way you want to kick off your morning.

Anyway, the starter seemed nice enough, we hit some warmup balls on the grass range and did get out as a foursome on time. The saving grace from a service standpoint was an older gentleman who was all smiles and jokes while we warmed up. That helped.

Onto the course: I really like this layout. Lots of variety of holes, especially when you get on the back nine.

The conditions of the course have definitely improved, but have a little ways to go. The greens were fantastic, the fairways were a little bare in spots, but way better than I remembered and I thought the tees and rough were more than playable.

Woods Valley always seems to have decent specials and I would recommend the place to anyone. However, if the same guy is running the shop when you check in, be warned. He ain't the happiest fellow in the world.

This is one of my very favorite courses. There is something about this course that "fits my eye" Additionally, the staff is ALWAYS pleasant, friendly and accomodating.

The overall condition of the course was not as good as I remember it being. The greens on the front were fine, the back side was rather bumpy and "patchy" Fairways had numerous areas which needed attention. (drought?) Sand was hit or miss.

I think that I enjoy the course so much because it offers nice visuals as well as some very interesting holes. Just a fun track to play. Wish it were closer to my home!

Played Sunday 5-17 and I cannot decide how to rate it exactly because the consistency is not consistent. The greens were fast in some spots and slow on others. The fairways were all nice with no bare spots that I saw. Tee boxes were level... but the bunkers... Some were really nice with fantastic sand and some were bare like bare bare... but one, I do not get how it wasn't GUR... It was so bare that the french drain was exposed. I like the course but don't think I will be going back until I read here that things have improved. It's too far removed to make the trip for what it is. And the driving range grass is way to long.

Second time here and liked even more than before (even though the first trip resulted in a GK cup match win . . . I won't mention any names). Course was in great condition overall. Very interesting layout, especially the back 9, with contouring, doglegs, some minor forced carries, tight in spots open in others, some short holes, some long, just a good fun mix.
Tees: played the blues and they were mostly level with good coverage.
Fairways: medium hard with some run out on low flighted shots, a bit thin in spots but very playable
Rough: pretty consistent 2 to 3 inches with a few deeper areas farther off the fairway and closer to streams or lakes
Bunkers: not full fluffy "resort" sand, but very, very nice, smooth, well groomed and easy to play from
Greens: very nice, even better condition then the last time I played here with Keith (oh yeah I wasn't gonna name names!) and they were nice then. Smooth, fast rolling, excepted shots well and except for unfixed/ill-fixed divots were almost perfect
POP: was right at 4 hours and would have been much faster if the group ahead A. played from the proper tees (whites, not blues) B.payed attention to whose shot it was and were ready to play when it was yours and C. didn't wander around the green chatting after every hole, (sermon over)
Customer Service was all I needed, hick easy check in, clean carts lined up and they came to the parking lot to retrieve the cart without any unnecessary attempts to "clean your clubs?"
Overall: a course I will visit frequently, beautiful, quiet setting, with an above average golf experience!

The new San Pasqual Tribe ownership have brought Woods Valley back to life! New staff, new carts, and golf course is in great shape. All the greens are completely healed and in top condition! Service and POP was excellent. The back-9 layout is definitely a hidden gem!!!
