Played 6-5-17 with GK Gurus JohnnyGK, GDR23, and Itslikeimsayin. We played the Canyon Crest/Ridgeline rotation teeing off around 11am and finishing in about 4 1/2 hours with no waiting and nobody behind us. Tee boxes were in really nice shape mostly lush and level, but a little soft under your feet. Fairways were very nice, mostly lush with some minor yellowing areas and providing great lies. Rough was very green and lush, 2-3 inches and thick. Was not in any bunkers but they looked fine. Greens were in really good shape, medium speed a little soft and rolling fairly smooth. Very nice 27 hole facility with a great layout and fun to play.

Played in the first group of Monday's GK Review Guru outing with JohnnyGK, rgm2525 and GDR23. Great times as always! Started a little past 11:00 and finished all 27 holes in about 6:45. Huge thanks to GK for setting this up and to Moorpark CC for having us out!

Conditions were outstanding! Greens were smooth, medium-fast and accepted full shots well. Fairways and rough were both very lush. The ball sat up great on the fairways. The rough was 2-3 inches deep and sticky in spots. Definitely a premium on staying in the fairway. The tee boxes were great, a little soft underneath the surface for my preference (my tee felt a little wobbly sometimes), but that's only if I want to get nitpicky. All of the bunkers I was in were good with plentiful sand. Not sure if this sand plays tough or I was having an off day, but I had a hard time hitting good sand shots and failed to escape the bunkers several times.

This was my first time here and I absolutely loved everything about the whole experience. It really surpassed my expectations. Right when you arrive there's a private club aura to the place. Big, beautiful driving range, nice chipping and putting greens. The course itself is unbelievably beautiful, lots of fun and also quite difficult. There are ESA lateral hazards on probably every hole and often on both sides, so controlling your direction is paramount. We played the tips, which also put a premium on distance (and makes a few holes extra fun and challenging). Tons of elevation changes. Just a fantastic course all around. The guys I played with have all played it several times and had their favorite nine. I think I'd have to agree with Johnny that Creekside was my favorite, but they are all wonderful. For me, it's not one of those 27-hole facilities where you definitely want a certain two nines. They're all great.

I played Moorpark on a beautiful Monday morning, teeing off at about 11am with respected gk gurus Nickesquire, MrKich, and mdames, I had played two of the nines before, so I knew what I was getting into.
The layout is very good, with ribbons of golf course winding through the beautiful, natural terrain. There are constant elevation changes, with many holes that play downhill, and many long cart rides up to elevated tees with magnificent views.
From the tee, landing areas are fair, but not generous. Errant tee shots result in balls lost in the ever-present lateral hazards which line virtually all the fairways on both sides. Lay-ups and approach shots can also find the hazards, and there are also a couple shots which need to carry over canyons.
I found myself often commenting on the beauty of many holes as I stood on the tee. The variety of length and personality of so many of the holes is astounding. Thank goodness all 27 holes have survived the trials and tribulations in the golf industry the last few years.
Course conditions were stellar across the board. Good coverage in the fairways, Thick, deep rough around the greens. Plenty of well-maintained sand in the bunkers. The greens were smooth and ran at a comfortable, medium speed, and were tricky for me to read.
Pace of play was great, and would have been better if we wouldn't have spent so much time looking for my wild shots. I could see the difficulty of the course adding time to rounds if the course got really busy, though.
Customer service was polite and professional at every turn. The golf related personnel were friendly and helpful. I also ate supper in the restaurant. The food and service were very good, and the beer selection was ample and cold.

Played MPCC on 6/5 with fellow GKers Nicksquire, Mrkich, and Stickboy. It was a very enjoyable day of golf. I can't add much to Nick's elaborate review. The course is in very good shape from tee to green. The only thing I would add is that the greens, though rolling well, were a little slower than I'm used to at this course. With the current conditions and the incredible views on nearly every hole of this course, I HIGHLY recommend getting out here and playing 18, or 27 if you have the time.

Played the Blues on all three 9's with GK Gurus stickboy, MrKich & mdames. Really easy going and enjoyable group to play with. Thanks to Vince, Matt & Mike for a nice day and to Moorpark CC for having us out! The course was not real busy, we let one single play through and played 27 holes in slightly less than 7H total. The weather was nice, bright, sunny, in the 80's with little wind most of the day. The tees were mostly level & lush with few unfixed divots. The fairways were mostly lush with a few browned out spots. Nice to play from. The rough was thick and lush. Tough to get good club on the ball. The green side traps were well maintained with nice sand. The fairway bunkers were firmer and less maintained. The greens rolled nice, medium speed, firm but still held approach shots well. Nice restaurant onsite, Vince, Matt & I stayed afterward and had burgers. Mine was very good. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. We saw the cart person once early in the day making the rounds, a rarity on a weekday morning. Nice grass driving range. Moorpark can be a really challenging track. Most holes have hazards down one or both sides. Many holes have elevation changes and forced carries over hazards, this is not a course for beginners. All 3 nines are VERY unforgiving on crooked shots, you can accumulate penalty shots in bunches here if you are more than about 10 yards left or right of almost any fairway. One of the few semi private courses in Ventura County. If you want to be challenged, this is a picturesque layout up/down rolling hills that is usually not super crowded. Definitely recommended.

Played Moorpark CC riding with the GK gurus JohnnyGK, RGM2525 and Itslikeimsaying this morning 6/5/2017 teeing off around 11am. We took our time enjoying the day with a POP around 4 hours 35 minutes not waiting on any shots. We played the Black tees at (73.0-138-7010). Weather was perfect low 80's with a little bit of a breeze cooling things down some. Moorpark has a great practice facility with a nice grass driving range, nice chipping green and a huge putting green. Starters here are always so friendly and nice. The course is in very good shape. The greens were super soft and holding irons like darts. There is more and more poa creeping into them. I remember when I first played here they were all bent grass greens. They were rolling very nice for the amount of poa that was in them. The pins today were tucked and challenging. Moorpark CC has many green complexes where you can tuck and hide pins which makes accuracy with your irons very important. I thought the greens were rated a 8/10 for me. The fairways were nicely padded and mostly lush in all places. Mix between dormant and light green in color for the most part. Rated a 8/10 The tees were mostly lush, level and sand divots on the par 3's were filled in nicely. Rated 8/10. Was in one bunker on Canyon Crest #7 that contained raked nice sand that looked crusty on top but had plenty of sand to splash out of. Rated 7.5/10 The rough was very healthy and green lining the fairways. It was a club grabber. Would say 2-3 inches in places and was a nice contrast to the more dormant color fairways. Rated 8.5/10. Moorpark CC is a canyon course that really puts the accuracy on the driver and iron play on most holes. You must hit the ball fairly straight to score well here or there is doom lurking. I personally think its the perfect mix of a tough course while still providing fun and shot value for any type of player. Amazing layout and views make this course one of the better courses in all of Ventura County. Highly recommended.

Played the Ridgeline/Canyon Crest 9s. I honestly can't believe it took me 10 months to play here since moving to Oxnard.

Tee boxes are pretty much level. There were a few not but for the most part most were level. not a lot of divot damage nicely manicured. The fairways were mostly lush I believe there was probably 1 hole not as lush but that's just nitpicking the course. Greens were rolling really well and medium fast speeds holding their lines well. Most bunkers were nearly perfect. I had a real great first experience and I've heard the other 9 that I didn't play is their best 9. I will most definitely play here again. Great course happy we have public access to it.

Played here on Wednesday 5/24 for a mid-morning round. Perfect weather. Upper 60's to low 70's with just a little bit of breeze. I Played Ridgeline and Creekside. Overall the course is in good shape. For the most part, the fairways are generally lush and provide a good cushion under the ball. However, on hole one of the Ridgeline 9 the landing area was very wet and muddy. That was the only wet area I encountered for the day. Tee boxes are mostly lush, but several tees had low areas and dips that made me alter where I teed up. The rough was fine; not too penal and around 1 inch or so. Greens were smooth and running medium to medium fast. They held well struck shots nicely. My only complaint is about the greenside bunkers. I was in 2 of them. Both were VERY firm and damp. I was able to get out OK but it is not easy to get your club under the ball and splash it out. The course is very playable and a lot of fun. I do recommend it.

Showed up at 2:30pm and played all 27 holes with daylight to spare. Total cost<$50. Now that's pretty good. So, the obvious point is that pace of play was superb. Moved quickly and never had anyone slow me down as a single. Lucky I played well because the course is tough - Creekside and Ridgeline. Canyon Crest, not so much. The course conditions were pretty good and greens are healing just fine from the punching. A little slow, but moving enough to make putts and not just take em'. This course is really scenic and provides great photo opportunities. I particularly liked Reagan Country hole. Yet, there are plenty of tough holes and one really weird one. The 4th hole on Creekside is really weird. Didn't care for that at all as I stood there trying to figure out what the heck to hit and where the hole was going. Overall, the layout of the three nines is not for me. One and done. But I can see how better players might keep this in their rotation for challenge, variety and physical appeal. The clubhouse is nice, everyone is helpful and routing on the course is easy to follow. GPS on the cart is nice, but didn't find it especially helpful as its not backlit well and tough to see at times. Overall, good course, good price and good aesthetics. For the right player, a real treat. For me, a good day on a very nice course. Last note....greens should be great in about a week.
