On September 17th I played around of golf at the Olivas golf course. I set muted reservation thru tee off EZ links. I played with three other golfers. Our tee time was at 2:45 pm and finished 6 pm. We waited every time starting on hole number 3. Olives had a golf tournament going that day. The group's were moving very slowly. I wished Olivas had a Marshall supervision the team's as they were taking a long time to put, looking for their lost balls. Our round took 6 hours to finish. Besides the waiting the golf course is in great conditions. The fair ways are very lush and smooth. The tees are in good conditions as well as the sand traps. The greens were a little bumpy and some had lots of dibits as they weren't fix. Overall all I rate this golf course a 7.5. Remember to keep hitting the ball and have fun.

Walked 13 holes starting at 3:30, Friday afternoon at Olivas. Only played 13 because of time constraints on a Friday evening. My partners and I were blown away by the quality of the fairway's, they were 3/4 of an inch of lush, trimmed perfection. The tee boxes were right there also. Our 3some finished the front nine in just under 2 hours. We didn't have anyone in front of us and it could have been even better POP. Wind was only about 8mph so not bad for an afternoon breeze. Always like this course, easily walked with it totally flat and no long walks between holes. Unfortunately that flatness does take a tiny bit away from any course in my eyes. Prefer golf to be a 3d experience. This course was re built as a links style course years ago and the layout does very well, to make up for the lack of elevation changes. I had one major complaint and most of that has way more to do with players than the course. Every green we played was severely pock-marked with ball marks nobody cared to repair. This course was immaculate, and for players to not repair their ball mark is beyond me as to why. When I hit a green, that's the first thing I'm looking for is my ball mark. And to bend over and repair it, is a sense of pride, "I did that" and I'm walking up to a green with only a putter. The greens may be a bit soft, the speed was bit on the slow side. But the size and quality of the greens show so much more potential than how they were playing. One other drawback I have is that this course was designed to be played with way more water features than are currently in play. Several holes have totally dried up ponds where you can walk out into the middle of, and play your shot from, no mud just left as a native area with weeds and a few reeds. (It does speed up play though) All n all still a very nice place to tee it up. And with cool ocean breezes, and temps in the 70's a wise choice. Edit: after filling out the rating info with my giving poor rating on greens it came up with a rating of 6.8 but I would give it a better score of about 7.5.

Rode the Black Tees with my buddy Mack, Pedro and Mack's buddy Brian on a 10-15mph mid 70's windy but gorgeous Monday afternoon 8/15/2016. POP was 5 hours for 27 holes--excellent 3some in front of us moving great--great staff and practice facilities.

Wonder what its like to play PGA tour/country club lush fairways for under 20 bucks? Well u can here--rated an 8.5/10--bordering on a 9/10. Beautiful lush grounds-still ample roll--marked off areas of GUR. Staff here should be so proud--a model of greatness. Eagle Falls fairways years ago come to mind in comparison to these.

The tees are also in very nice shape--mostly all level and lush with most areas on the 3 pars filled in. Rated 8/10

The greens remain super soft---been fixing more ballmarks here than I want to. They are holding irons terrific and putting medium speed. Rating them a 7/10.

Was not in any bunkers but they looked raked. Our playing partner found the fairway bunker on 2 that had a dampness issue at the top of the bunker maybe from sprinklers--nothing that we could not fix by raking it after play with softer sand mixed in.

The rough just off the fairways is lush in some spots. Not that much rough just off the greens but you do have to navigate how hard to hit the texas wedge in that the fringes are cut thicker and soft.

Great back nine layout with some challenging holes and some holes to score on the front nine. Any hole on the back can bite you--for example after making birdie on 13 from the blacks which I never do--busted a real nice round by going OB on 15 by one foot and making double(lol)

Considering the weather has been close to 100 degrees in Moorpark/Simi/T.O.--RiverRidge and Olivas is the call. Recommended.

Today I played the olives golf course with buddy Gary GK memeber. We our tee time was at 2:28. We made the reservations at the ez links website. Gary got there early and met him and two friends o. Hole nine. The wind was a little strong which made the game more interesting and challeging. The fair ways are in great shape. The tees are level which helped with your. Alqnce. The ball was running well in the greens and the pin placement was in great locations. I rate the course in every 8 except customer service. Olivas always has excellent customer ser
Vices. Over all I enjoyed today's run of golf. You need to get out there and try it out. Olivas will challenge you.

Played 8-12-16 with JohnnyGK, Nickesquire, and Kviser teeing off at 7:30 and finishing around noon. Tee boxes were level, lush and in great shape. Fairways were some of the best I have played on this year. They were in great shape mowed tight, and great to hit from. They did have some minor bare spots that were all designated as GUR. Rough was in good shape with some small bare areas along fairways, it was cut to about 2 inches and easy to hit from. Was in one fairway bunker that was well groomed with nice white sand. Greens were in descent shape rolling medium speed and fairly smooth, unfortunately there are a lot of poorly and un-repaired ball marks on most greens. Overall course is in great shape and worth playing.

Played yesterday afternoon and the more I play this course the more I seem to like it. Sunny but cool with a nice steady breeze perfect playing conditions. Johnny just gave a great review from the previous day so I won't get into too much detail other than my one complaint. We were two hours and 20 minutes in after six holes. Don't know what happened to slow it down so much but it didn't look like it was getting any better. 2 to 3 groups of golfers on every hole ahead of us and a group of six!? behind us. We just decided to call it a day after the sixth hole. We would've pushed to seven hour round at that point and obviously we can't play until 8 o'clock at night.

Not sure where you want to play yet this weekend???...head up to the Ventura and play Olivas Links, Buenaventura or RiverRidge. Cool temps, fantastic conditions, fun layouts and affordable. I just played Olivas Links Friday with rgm2525, kviser and Nickequire…and it was an excellent golf experience. Probably as lush tee to green as I have ever seen Olivas Links and I've been playing it since it opened. I would not say the course was immaculate due to some patchy thin areas in the rough and just adjacent to the fairways, plus some greens were a bit beat up by ball marks and running a little slower than normal. However besides these small blemishes, you are in for a treat. It’s NO surprise Olivas Links won Greenskeeper.org’s Best Value “Worth The Green Fee” award 2015 and the way it’s looking, it’s got a great chance to win that award again for 2016. Summing up the conditions, Tee Boxes, about as lush and nice as I’ve seen this year. Level and cut tight. Fairways, very lush, cut tight, some wet spots, and only some thin or patching areas. I did love that with everything thin or patching in the fairway was marked by white paint as ground under repair. Rough, first cut low, mostly lush with occasional thin spots. Second cut of Rough was a mix of rugged turf ranging from 2 feet high immediate lost ball to almost bare ground. Its always hit or miss regarding the degree of trouble your ball will be in when you start spaying the ball off the tee at Olivas Links. Bunkers in great shape with quality sand and well groomed. Greens, beautiful, with exception to many old ball marks, yet rolling smooth anyway, moderate speed and firm. Overall the course is in great shape. As far as the layout, beautiful unique terrain, flat, very walk-able, with mostly slightly elevated greens well-guarded by bunkers and interesting mounding. It’s a links style course for the most part but I say about 1/3 of the holes are not conducive nor would be considered links style due to lofted shots required to optimally play them. However I love the variety of the layout with a solid mix of interesting holes that all play fair. You need to be able to putt well, adapt to the wind, be solid with your ball striking and have good command of your bump & run chipping game to score well. Regarding service, you are always going to get smiles and professionalism. From the Proshop to the on course beverage/snack services. Wonderful staff. Olivas Links is one of my favorite public golf courses in all of Southern California. Highly recommended.

Played the Blacks (6818/73.0/130) with GK Review Guru's kviser, JohnnyGK & RGM2525 in overcast, calm conditions in the 70's. We enjoyed a relaxed pace of slightly less than 4.5H playing early morning and finishing just before noon. Excellent course to walk, very flat. Huge putting green that is usually very comparable to the course. Excellent grass driving range complete with a good chipping and sand practice area that they have expanded to include a separate chipping area off to the side of the chipping green. The tees were lush, nicely maintained. Very few unfixed divots anywhere. The fairways were lush and firm. Very nice with the few poor areas that were clearly marked as GUR. The rough around the fairway is mostly lush. Farther off the fairway is mostly hardpan with patches of lost ball rough. The traps were well maintained and have good quality sand, nice to play from. The greens were firm, smooth and medium speed. They look good and putted true. The customer service is always good here. No frills pro shop is in a trailer, minimal food available onsite. NO GPS on carts, usually no drink cart. Excellent value, especially for an above average layout in well above average condition. Definitely recommended.

Super good time today with rgm2525, Nickesquire, and JohnnyGK. I think GDR23's review is spot on. This is the greenest, lushest golf course I have played this year. Decent roll out on the fairways. There are a few areas marked GUR with white paint, but mostly you will have a great lie if you hit a fairway here. The rough varies from nicely mowed to deep kikuyu. There are natural areas that can really mess you up as well. The traps looked to be in great condition with ample amounts of good sand. Greens ran medium fast, but had many unrepaired or poorly repaired ball marks. If you live inland, you are going to love golfing here during the summer. I will be back.
