Walked the River Ridge Vineyard course this morning 5/22/2017 at 11am for a GK Guru Round with RGM2525 and Toritori walking the tips (72.7/129/6761) on a beautiful high 60's low 70's day with about a 10mph breeze. Our POP was fantastic not waiting one shot finishing in just over 3 hours 30 minutes. We had a blast out there today on a fun semi-challenging layout. The vineyard course has some strong par 4's, usually some ocean wind, large greens and enough OB, lakes and kikuyu rough to keep each player on their toes. The greens were super soft, contained some sand on them today and were putting pretty pure but a lot slower than usual due to the minimal amount of sand on the greens. Once the sand settles in and these greens are cut or rolled I can see these greens being in GREAT shape. Currently rated 7/10. One thing to appreciate about RiverRidge is the super strives to keep the maintenance up and running to provide usually exceptional green conditions. The fairways were mostly lush based kikuyu grass with still a decent amount of roll. Pretty nice coverage throughout. Rated a 7.5/10. The tees were cut and mowed kikuyu in nice shape. Par 4 and 5 tees had no divot damage and the par 3's contained some divots that were mostly filled in and in nice shape. Mostly all tees were level. Rated 7.5/10 Was in greenside bunkers on #15 and #16 that were raked and semi-firm but contained just enough sand for the club not to bounce. Rated 7/10 The rough was mostly semi-lushed mowed down kikuyu grass 1 inch to maybe 1.5 inches long. In good shape. Easy to play out of. Rated 7.5/10. Customer service in the pro-shop is always nice and professional. Range has some beat up portions in hitting areas. They have two great separate chipping areas that are nice and a very sloped putting green that is very large to practice long lag putting. They have some really cool twilight and sunset rates during the summer--this is Oxnard so I would still being a windbreaker even in the summer if you are playing in the afternoon. Recommended.

Played 4-8-17 late morning on a Teeoff deal for $28 including cart. Was sent out as a single and got around in about 3 hours and 45 minutes on a pretty empty course with some minor back tracking to let the foursome in front of me stay ahead of me. Tee boxes were in little thin and had been recently punched but descent to hit from. Fairways were in nice shape, lush with good padding and minimal roll out. Rough was not that long with good coverage and easy to hit from. Was in a couple of greenside bunkers that had very nice white sand. Greens are still healing from being punched 2 1/2 weeks ago so they were bumpy with medium speed and a little on the soft side. Course is very green and the greens should be in real good shape in a couple of weeks.

Played today after the morning rain. Teeoff.com tee time $38 at 11:39. Got to the course a little after 10:00, checked in, and was pretty much sent on my way immediately. I was given a choice to play the Vineyard despite having a tee time for the Lakes course. Starter said it was wide open on the Vineyard and not so much on the Lakes. That said, I noticed the greens were still recovering from aeration. They rolled mostly smooth and a little on the slow side; starter had them listed as a 9'-6", but they might have been a little slower. Fairways and rough were dormant kikuyu and Bermuda grasses mixed in with pockets of some fescue. Not too thin, but not super lush either. There was plenty of well-groomed sand in the bunkers, but they were a little wet due to the morning rain. Tee boxes (I played the white tees) were level and had good coverage. Pace of play was about 4 hours and some change after running into the back of some slower groups.

Played 12-2-16 teeing off as a single at 7:30 using the GK coupon for $27 to walk, and finishing around 10:30. Tee boxes were in good shape semi-lush and level. Fairways had very nice coverage with some minor thin areas but mostly good lies. Rough is in good shape not that long here maybe an inch longer then the fairways even around greens . Was in a few bunkers some that were a little thin and others that had a good layer of sand. Greens were in really good shape, smooth, medium/fast and a little firm. Was a little surprised at how green the course was for early December. Always great costumer service here.

Interesting morning this morning 10/31/2016--planned on playing the Lakes course--had a 9:15am tee time with my buddy Mack---it was a circus of people showing up late for their tee times this morning?? At 9:07am we were going to be 4th up behind a twosome riding golfboards with their dogs on their leashes with them, a foursome of older gentleman and another foursome of cart riders--we decided to call up to the Vineyard starter who got us out just during our tee time at 9:15am on Vineyard--great customer service--thanks RR. We played a 3 hr 50 minute round walking the tips never having to wait joined by a very nice twosome. I paid $27.00 to walk with the GK coupon which is a great deal for these courses in the morning. Weather was in the low 60's with the wind picking up on the back nine.

Fire update--both courses running smoothly--no damage to clubhouse--fire was on the opposite side of the building of the clubhouse by where they hold weddings--nobody hurt--all good news.

Greens--rolling very pure--they had a topdressing on the greens that made chips and putts a little slower than normal. Greens were very soft and holding iron shots very nicely. They are in good shape. Rated 7.5/10

Fairways--Lush Kikuyu fairways from the overnight rains. Very little problem areas. Good shape rated 7.5/10

Tees--Lush Kikuyu tees mostly all level some minor divot damage on the 3 pars. Good Shape 7/10

Was in one sand bunker on #13 greenside raked semi-firm. Rated 7/10

Rough thick lush kikuyu great shape--rated 8/10.

Very fun challenging layout with some good par 3, 4's and 5's. I prefer the lakes layout but I for sure recommend either RR course.

Played Sunday, October 9, at 10:20 with fellow GKer, DKnight. We had an 11:10 tee time, and used the GK Coupon. The course was almost empty, so we opted to go out earlier after hitting a few putts. We knew that they course was aerated recently. The pro shop let us know it was small tine aeration and the greens were almost healed. The greens did roll good and by next weekend it will be completely healed. Nice grass coverage most everywhere, maybe a little thin in spots, but I had decent lies all day long. The only areas that looked somewhat dry seemed to be around the north side of the course on 8, 10, and 11 fairways. The bunker sand was plentiful and even Dean had little trouble getting out. Tees were mostly level without a lot of divots. We messed around a bit and took a lot of time, but still finished in 4.5 hours. We did not see the beverage cart on the Vineyard course, but it was parked at the clubhouse when we passed at the turn. It seems most golfers prefer the Lakes course, but this is still a good option and I recommend it.

Just wanted to let everyone know to try out the golfboards. They had 7 or 8 at the course. First Saturday we tried it, we had such a blast boarding and golfing we went back the following Saturday (even though it was over an hour drive away)...and they were all taken! :-(

They say you can book the boards 10 days in advance. Now I'm looking for more golf courses that might have them. Golfing was hundred times more fun.

By the way, conditions of greens and course in general was really great.

Out for a vacation round this morning 7/27/2016 at RiverRidge Vineyard with a 7:46am tee time walking the blue tees. Weather was a bit humid even in the morning but so pleasant---70 degree tee off start--80 degree finish with no wind. Both courses were packed this morning with club tournaments. The very nice starter and clubhouse staff let me out right before the tournament on Vineyard. POP even at that time this morning was slow at 4 hours 30 minutes behind multiple(3 slower foursomes). Paid $27.00 walking using the GK coupon---a great deal in the morning during the week on either course!

Greens: The greens are in GREAT shape right now--historically always bouncy in the afternoon they were very smooth this morning putting semi-quick and firm I would say around a 10 on the stimp. Little to no ballmarks. Very soft and holding irons and approach shots. I am rating them an 8/10--greenskeeper has them in great shape.

Fairways: Would say more lush then thin maybe 75 green lush/25 percent dry---for the most part great lies. Kikuya fairways so not as much roll as a normal grass fairway. Rating them a 7/10.

Tees: For the most part all lush and mostly all level--some blue tees hunted for a stance. rated 7/10

Bunkers: Was in fairway trap on #8 that was just how you would want a fairway trap to be harder, raked and easy to pick your iron out of. Not in any greenside traps.

Rough: Rated 8/10---lusher parts lining some fairways and green complexes---mostly in nice shape.

Layout---from the blues it plays 6730--maybe a little shorter in the morning with no wind and a bit longer than that in the afternoon. For sure probably the easier course than its sister next door the Lakes course---but for sure if you are not on your game it will get you. Recommended for sure.

FYI--Dallas Cowboys start training camp tomorrow 7/28/2016 along the left side of hole #13---probably should not have played it all the way back as a par 5 this morning but I did anyway--they have that hole playing as a temporary par 3 due to tents and training stuff in some of the fairway.

I don't have a lot to add to DKnight's review; he seemed to cover it all. POP was on the slow side from about the 6th hole on. It was a slow twosome, then they joined another slow twosome and we played right behind the new, slow foursome from hole 9 through 18. At hole 14 tee, they were in the middle of teeing off, but did not acknowledge us or offer to let us play through. In their defense, we did not ask. It was a nice day with a cool coastal breeze and I was in no hurry to get back to the hot interior climate. I fixed plenty of ball marks and there was evidence someone ahead of us was eating sunflower seeds and spitting them onto the greens. Good conditions throughout the course, but not as well watered or as manicured as the Lakes course.
