Played 12-11-17 teeing off as a single at 7am and finishing in about 2 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in good shape mostly level with good coverage. Fairways were and little on the thin side with some tight lies but not to bad. Rough is not much longer than the fairways so not much of a factor. Was in two greenside bunkers that had nice brown sand. Greens were rolling medium speed and a little bumpy from whenever the punched last. Course is in descent winter shape and has a good mix of holes which makes it fun to play.

Walked the Tips at RiverRidge Vineyard Golf Course on Tuesday 9/5/2017 teeing off at 8:40am with some buddies(Matt,Mack and his buddy). Our POP behind several slower groups in the morning was 4 hours 30 minutes. Used the free birthday round that RiverRidge offers 2 weeks before or after your birthday--you just need to sign up with their e-club online and provide drivers license at clubhouse. Weather was beautiful-foggy in the morning and the sun came out on the back nine--mostly in the high 70's. The Lakes course was closed due to aerification so the Vineyard course was crowded. I always enjoy RiverRidge's beautiful and challenging layouts. The staff here is always very professional. Marshall's provided a ride up the hill to 3 tee along with a ride from 13 green to 14 tee which was appreciated! The greens were rated a 7/10 for me. They were listed as a 9.5 on the stimp in the pro-shop. I thought they putted medium to slow speed and were rolling fairly well with just a few bumps here and there. Very few divots and looked nice. The fairways contained very lush green Kikuyu grass and you had perfect lies in the fairways. My buddy thought they were a little thick but I thought they were in very good shape for the end of summer. Rated 8/10 Was in fairway bunker on #17 that contained raked and more compact sand which was nice. Was not in any green side bunkers so could not rate them. The tees were mostly level and lush containing Kikuyu grass. Some divots filled in with sand on the par 3's. Rated 7/10 The rough is very healthy lining some of the fairways. Very green and a club grabber. They had some of the maintenance mowers cutting it down between #10 and #11 as we were playing. Rough rating 8/10. Layout has some strong long par 4's and a couple of tough par 3's with one of them being the finishing island hole which was playing 215 to a back pin today plus a 10 mph breeze. Playing this course for free today was unbelievable. For the GK coupon walking for $28 bucks in the morning is one of the better if not the best morning coupon that GK has around. Had a blast today capped off by an eagle chip in on hole 1. Highly Recommended.

Played the two courses for the first time this last weekend, with Vineyard being the first on Saturday. I was in a tournament but my interaction with the staff was positive. They were cheerful and efficient. The marshals were all over the tournament site but I did not hear any grumping about negative interactions. Pace of play was about 4:45 which was decent for an event like this.

I liked the course. I thought it was in pretty good shape. Decently lush fairway and rough. I was not in any bunkers. The greens were a little shaggy. I heard 10.5 on the stimp but I thought they were a little slower. They were okay, but not as fast as I had expected from other reviews.

It was a course in which some course experience would have been handy. Quite a few blind tee shots. I do not know if it would have helped my score but it would have been some comfort. I would play here again.

I should add that quite a few of us stayed at the adjacent Marriott Residence Inn. It is right on the 13th hole and one could walk to the clubhouse. Decent rate at a great location for the golf.

Played here Sunday with fellow Gker, Kviser. We had a 9:54 tee time with green fees and cart it was $68. I greatly appreciate the Greenkeeper deal. Conditions were very good overall with good coverage on the fairways and tee boxes. The rough was not too penalizing and the bunkers had good sand. The greens were medium fast and rolled true. As usual the staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative is that fire damage is not fully repaired yet. I will be back especially when the temperature gets nearing 100 in Valencia. Wish I lived closer.

DKnight and I played here Sunday morning, riding for $68 at 9:58 a.m. I paid $5 for a small bucket of range balls which we shared on their all-grass range. Four hour POP, following a foursome, waiting on a few shots near the end. Good turf coverage everywhere; the rough and fairways are a little drier than what they have on the Lakes course, but very playable with good roll. The greens are also very nice; also, slower than the Lakes greens. I was in a couple of bunkers and both had good sand. Good times and great weather. Better play in the afternoon to get the best rates. Walking will save you $15.

Played 5-22-17 late morning with GDR23 and Toritori for a GK Guru round, getting around in a little over 3 1/2 hours walking. Tee boxes were in nice shape, level semi-lush and mowed closely. Fairways were in good shape, mostly lush with good coverage and descent roll out. Rough was in good shape, not to long and easy to hit from. Was in one greenside bunker on 16 that was a little firm but still descent to hit from. Greens which had just been lightly sanded were still rolling pretty good but were very slow. Course is starting to come around very nicely and should only get better as the summer progresses.

Played 5/22 with JohnnyGK, Nickesquire, and d_sal13. The course was wide open for us and we took our time around the course at about 5 hours POP. As said already, the sanded greens put a damper on our overall experience, but a day of sanded greens beats a day at the office any day in my book. Having never played River Ridge, I was pleasantly surprised by it's length and general toughness as a course. A lot of long par 4s that play even longer when you have a stiff breeze in your face. While the course layout isn't necessarily taxing with wide open fairways, the wind always makes you consider club selection and ball flight. The greens, although sanded, are very deceptive. I can't imagine them rolling at an 11 or 12 with the undulations and breaks that they have. Once these greens are free of sand and return to their natural form, this is a golf course that will challenge any handicap.

Played my first time with Gk'ers with the invite from JohnnyGK. I got paired with rgm2525 and GDR23 and I had a real good time playing with them. I don't remember the last time playing the Vineyard course (probably 6-7 years ago). I remembered some of the holes, but most of them gone, so in someways it was refreshing to play this course. I got punished with OB's. But that is because of the way I am swinging right now (with no confidence after a dismal back 9 on Saturday at Black Gold). Golf course is wide, but still needing to hit good drives, especially on some of the long par 4 on this course. As stated on others, we were warned about the greens being sanded. It was tough to putt on the slow greens. The ball didn't look like it wanted to roll at all! Some of the putts were hammered but it only went 2/3 of the way. The greens rolled well outside of that, so it should be in good shape after a couple of days of watering. Fairway and rough was in good shape. Couple of the sand traps that I got in were a little on the heavy side but good amount of sand. Tee box was in good shape for the most part. Pace of play was great! Just over 3.5 hours walking, no wait, no body pushing us. We just teed up and played all day. With the way the course is, it's a good course to come back. And Lakes looked also good so that should be another one to play soon.

Fun GK Review Guru round out at River Ridge Vineyard Course yesterday. Got to tee it up with Nickequire, dsal_13 and 3-4bravo. Thank you toritori, rgm2525 and GDR23 for joining.

I was concerned at the start when I got news they had lightly sanded the greens that morning and they were running much slower than normal. These are the type of procedures superintendents don’t typically inform other golf course staff much in advance. I always look forward to playing either River Ridge Course (Victoria Lakes or Vineyard) because you can always count on smooth, medium to fast greens when maintenance is not being done. They have their city championship approaching in 3 weeks and you can bet the greens are only going to get better. Turned out the greens were much slower but at least they rolled smooth and held shots.

Vineyard is a golf course that seems to be greatly overshadowed by its big brother Victoria Lakes. Although I certainly think Victoria Lakes is the better course, the Vineyard is still a great golf course. It’s mostly the original layout at River Ridge Golf Course and presents many challenges. It features some very good holes, nice mix of short and long par 4, some risk/reward par 5’s, and the spectacular “Island” 18th hole. See photos I just posted.

Overall condition was very good and only going to get better quickly. You’re going to love taking on those greens as they speed up which should be soon. Fairways are mostly lush but will get lusher. Rough mostly lush but will get lusher. Tee boxes in good shape, level and lush. Bunkers in good shape with quality sand. I’d like to revisit this course with some GK Review Gurus in a couple weeks. Play the Victoria Lakes course as well. That would be an awesome 36 hole day. Although I know conditions are going to improve, right now it’s still a very fun golf experience I recommend!
