Walked the Oak Tees this morning 10/8/2018 with a 7:12am tee time with my buddy RGM2525. What a great and fun round! Weather was nice at tee off low 50's with no wind today and warming up on the back nine. We paid $28.00 walking and our POP was 3 hours 35 minutes following a nice 3some. This is the nicest I have seen Soule Park ever. I have not played here since February and am just so impressed. They have new ownership and if you have not checked this place out you should. Right now its wall to wall green and lush with new sand in all the bunkers. The greens are firm and mostly putting quick and smooth with just a few old ballmarks present that really did not effect putting. Would say rolling close to a 10 on the stimp and in great shape. I believe they can have up to 7 different hole locations on these huge undulating Gil Hanse surfaces. The fairways were so lush they were Palm Springs quality. Thick, lush and green with great lies. The tees were super lush, green and mostly all level. The only bunker I was in was fairway bunker on 9 that had perfect raked sand. All bunkers contain new sand. Rough was mostly all lush, very few dry spots. They were mowing some of the rough down. I heard they just had a senior qualifier tournament up here and I can see why. Highly recommended in great shape! Wish I lived a tad closer. I will return for sure.

Played 8-29-18 teeing off as a single at 7:30 for $28 walking and finishing around 10:15 going through two foursome on the front side and having the back nine to myself. I can not remember when I have seen this course in such good shape. Tee boxes had good coverage, were cut tight and level. Fairways were great, very lush with descent roll out and great lies. Rough was not that long, semi-lush and a little thin or bare the farther you got off the fairway. Was in one greenside bunker on #8, unfortunately it was the only bunker on the course that has not been redone, so it had hard compacted thin brown sand. The rest of the bunkers looked great with nice white fluffy sand and well groomed. Greens were in very nice shape, semi-soft so holding most shots, and rolling true at about medium/fast pace. Hope they can keep the conditions of the course at present level. Highly recommend playing here.

Walked the Orange Tees this morning 2/20/2018 at 8:40am with RGM2525, his dad Gordon and also joined by a nice single Dan from Colorado--what a enjoyable day! We had colder but beautiful weather in the high 40's when we teed off warming up some on the back nine with maybe a club of wind on the back nine--very nice playing conditions . POP was 4 hours never really waiting that long and not really being pushed by the 3some of walkers behind us. Paid $28.00 to walk which is their standard morning rate. The greens were rolling fairly smooth and nice with medium pace. Maybe a 9 to 9.5 on the stimp with just a few ballmarks present. I thought they were in good shape and were holding irons with spin and higher trajectory. The pin locations here on these big Gil Hanse greens make putting and chipping fun and challenging. Rated 7.5/10 The fairways for hardly any rain in the area were semi-lush providing decent lies and decent run out. Rated 7/10 The tees were mostly lush and some needed leveling. In better than average shape. Rated 7/10 The rough is dry, thin in most places with some bare spots and hardpan here and there. Rated 6/10. Was in fairway bunker on #9 that contained just the right amount of sand for bunker shots. FYI --this might be a permanent thing so check with the pro-shop they are now starting players on #17, then playing #18 then on to #10-16 and then #1-9 to finish up. So my tips on this site will have to be updated--Johnny might want to update the scorecard too after speaking with the pro-shop to see if this is going to be a permanent change as they had scorecards made for players with this new routing system. Recommended.

Played 2-20-18 with GDR23 , my Dad, and a single who joined us for $28 walking teeing off at 8:40 and finishing at 12:35. Tee boxes mostly level, with some of them being a little shaggy but overall in descent shape. Fairways were semi-lush with descent lies for the most part with some thin areas. Rough was a mix of everything from 2-3 inches to very thin to bare spots. Was in two greenside bunkers, one that had semi-firm brown sand and the other that had very soft white sand. They were working on some of the bunkers so I am assuming that they are going to redo them all with soft white sand. Greens were in pretty good shape, soft, rolling medium speed and a little bumpy at times but mostly from old ball marks. Fun walkable course that is nice to get out and play once in a while.

Walked the Orange tees with Mack, Brian and Matt this morning 1/29/2018 at 9:50am with a POP of 4 hrs 10 minutes with a 5some and then a 2some ahead of our group. Weather was beautiful with no wind and a high of 83 degrees today--can't believe its January and this warm up in Ojai already. We paid $28.00 bucks which is their standard morning walking rate during the week. It was nice playing in calm conditions in that the wind has been howling all this weekend in the Moorpark/Simi area.

The course was very lucky and fortunate to survive the fires that started up here on the evening of 12/4--several forest areas around the course right up to the course boundary line look like they got toasted and roasted by the fires.

Soule has new ownership which are super friendly people and I know care about their customers and keeping their course in nice condition.

The tees were mostly level--number 5 and the front of number 8 could use some work but other than that they were in pretty decent shape-green and rated a 7/10.

The fairways are 50/50 lush to thin. They just need some more rain or H20 on them. For January without to much rain I thought they were playable and had enough padding to them. Rated 6/10

The greens were soft on approach and putting medium speed with not to many ballmarks. Typical Gil Hanse huge green surfaces that can host maybe 9 different pin locations. Fun and challenging to chip and putt on and they have some swales around the fringes to navigate. Greens rated 7.5/10

Was in greenside bunkers on 3 and 16 which both contained newer marble white sand that looked and felt like hitting out of a Augusta national bunker. Those bunkers were rated a 8/10.

The rough is pretty spotty, thin and gross--for sure needing the most improvement 5/10.

Love to use Soule as an alternative when its howling 30-40mph in my area. Can't beat the rate sheet here as well. Fun layout with great mountain back-drop scenery and at present time a decent maintained course.

Out this afternoon 12/4/2018 walking the orange tees joined by my buddy Mack and his buddy Brian and a nice single. We teed off at 11:50am 10 minutes early and finished at 4:20pm for a POP of 4 hrs 30 minutes--we played the front in 2 hrs and then had a 3 group back-up on #10 tee. Weather was beautiful maybe 1 club wind and around 70 degrees at tee off. Paid the walking twilight rate of $19.00 which considering how nice and lush the course is might be one of the best deals in VC county.

Soule Park should be commended on current conditions--very lush and green fairways with very little problem areas. Rated 8/10.

Greens looking and rolling beautiful. Very little to no ball marks, holding very softly on approaches and actually rolling medium to fast. In great shape. Rated 8/10.

Tees mostly level and lush--rated 7.5/10

Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be raked and in good shape.

Rough generally lush and green and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

I just love this course--especially for the rates they charge. New management is really keeping it up nicely for the start of December. Recommended.

Out for the Black Friday experience this morning 11/24/2017 at Soule Park. Walked the Orange Tees joined by my buddies Matt and Rick. We were quoted $28.00 to walk when we booked our time last week. When we showed up this morning they wanted $40.00 to walk. After going back and forth for a couple minutes they honored the original price of $28.00 they stated on the phone. Weather was perfect mid 80's with light breezes and the POP was 5 hours on the busiest day of golf. We had a 10:24am tee time and teed off around 11:10am and finished right at 4:10pm. Never seen this before but they had a marshall in the 1st fairway waving groups on the tee to hit down the hill with groups in front not even out of the way--kind of weird but I guess it worked.

The new management at Soule Park really has this place green and lush from tee to green. Also added some new white marble beach sand in some of the bunkers--#3 and #16 come to mind if I remember right.

The fairways are very lush, full coverage with very few problem areas at all. They must be watering the tees, rough and fairways cause this is the best shape that I have seen Soule Park in this late in the year. Fairway rating 8/10

The tees were lush, semi-level--some tees need minor leveling like #5. Rated 7.5/10.

The greens were rolling very nicely. Soft and holding nicely on approach--fixed some ballmarks from the groups in front of us. Huge Gil Hanse green complexes and you can have some real long lag putts here. Rated 7.5/10

Most of the bunkers had the old brown clay like sand that was firmer and then there were holes like #3 and #16(both par 3's) that had new white soft marble sand. Thinking they are trying to convert all the bunkers to that white marble stuff. White marble sand bunkers rated 8.5/10. Clay like bunkers 7/10.

Rough lining the fairways very lush, green and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

Very fun layout with a couple strong par 4 holes #8, 12, 14 and 15. Plenty of scoring chances on the par 5's #4, 5, 11 and 18--beautiful scenery and great prices.

Recommended with the new management changes.

Out again at Soule Park this morning 10/16/2017 teeing off at 9:52am just in front of a HS girls CIF playoff. Rode the Orange Tees with my buddy Mack and his buddy Ricki and Brian. It was so hot today with temps ending our round around 100 degrees that we lost a player after 9 holes--one of the hotter mid October days that I can remember. POP was 4 hrs not having to wait on one shot.

Not much has changed condition wise since I played out here 9 days ago with buddies other then the greens were even rolling better today.

Greens very soft, receptive to irons with spin. Very little ballmarks to be fixed today. Would say maybe a 9-10 on the stimp. In very good shape. Rated 7.5/10--maybe closer to 8/10.

Fairways for the most part have full coverage with lush green grass--very few problem areas. Rated 7.5/10.

Bunkers contained some nice darker clay lake raked sand. Rated 7/10.

Some tees need leveling--number #5 comes to mind. For the most part lush very filled in nice teeing grounds. Rated 7/10.

Get off the fairways and the rough is a mixed bag of thin lies, dirt, lush grass or even some dirt areas between holes. Rated 6/10.

Their walking rates are a great deal--its gets hot out here so if you can pick a day where its not to hot this place is for sure recommended.
