Its been a while since I've played here, and the first time that I've touched a club in a month so needless to say I went back to my favorite local course. Played this morning at 605 as a single. Second person out on the course; still a little dark when teeing off, so you know this was a quick round. Was actually back home in Saugus by 930.

Got out for $49 riding.

Boxes - 8/10. Generally level, could find a good lie on every one. Only thing keeping this down is that several of them were a little thin where they placed the rocks today. Had they been 5-10 feet forward or backwards, probably would have given this a 10. Overall, VERY playable and certainly not something to deter anyone from the course.

Bunks - 7/10. Found myself in a few today unfortunately. Both greenside and fairway. The greenside bunks were nice and full. Being so early they were a little wet and heavy, but I would surmise that by 10am they were in great shape. The fairway bunks were thin. 100% opposite the greenside bunks. I ended up pulling my ball out of the third one I went in since I wasn't keeping score.

Fairways - 8/10. Fantastic, given the water situation this state has put itself in over the last few years. Found a few thin lies but overall was pretty impressed with the state of the fairways.

Greens - 9/10. These were the highlight of the round. Every one of them was in great shape and rolled true. Only reason I can't give them a 10/10 is because there were a bunch of ball marks that weren't fixed. Not the courses fault per se, but I did have a crew of guys 2 holes in front me the entire day and a work following me on every hole to change the cup location - any of them could have fixed the ball marks.

Rough - 5/10. If there was any negative at all here, it was the rough. Depending on what you prefer, this could have been a much higher rating. Personally, I like the rough to be longer than what is out there currently (guessing it's due to lack of water, but that's pure speculation). Rough looked to be a similar length to the fairway, just yellow-er grass.

Side note - the hillsides/waste areas were VERY clean. Made it really easy to find a lot of balls today.

Overall - highly recommend this course anytime, but I have a bit of a bias for it since I grew up in the neighborhood you can see on the other side of the freeway on holes 2/3 and played here every day when I was learning how to golf.

Played here yesterday with 3 others. We used the GK deal which was $79 for two players. What a great deal for this nice course. With the nearby fires burning and the weather about 89 degrees, we all had a great time and thought the conditions were definitely above average for this time of year. The only thing I thought was fair were the bunkers. Not much sand and inconsistent. Greens were great with only a few unrepaired ball marks. This is a tough course to get your distances dialed in due to the hills, canyons, and swirling winds. Saw the cart girl a couple times and noticed the pro shop was very bare which worries me a little.

I used my $50 GolfMoose voucher won at a GK Event toward a $79 for two deal here this morning. It was my first time playing Tierra Rejada, but fortunately my friend had played here a few times to share some vital local knowledge on a very tricked-out layout. We teed off around 6:50, weather was foggy and misty early on, but finally got sunny around the 15th hole. POP was under 3:30, which included playing a couple holes stuck behind slow groups.

Conditions were decent, with the course playing better than it looks due to dry and/or clumpy areas of grass throughout. The greens are the best part: smooth, medium-fast and accepting of full shots. Fairways are a bit splotchy but pretty good coverage overall, although visually they don't look that pure. Same for the rough, although maybe a bit splotchier than the fairways. Bunkers were good, but wet so early in the morning. Tee boxes were maybe the lowlight of the course, with some having what looked like clumps of crab grass or some type of wide-blade, thick grass.

This is a course where local knowledge is critical and so is being able to hit the ball straight. Many holes are very tight with ESA bordering one or both sides. There are also a number of forced carries. Five par 5s and five par 3s keep things interesting. Four of the five par 3s were really fun and/or beautiful.

Teed off a little earlier than our tee time this morning 7/5/2016 as a twosome with my buddy Matt around 7:40am. POP riding here which is mandatory was 3 hours 40 minutes on a foggy start but beautiful day to play golf. Temps in the lower 70's for most of the round. Used the GK Champions Club golfmoose gift card I won so it was a steal today. We caught and played with a nice single BJ on number 6 tee on.

The greens were bumpy--just coming out of maintenance I believe around 5 weeks ago? I would still leave up the green maintenance alert but beware they are not rolling smooth or true. Fixed my share of ballmarks from early morning groups? They were very soft and held approach shots beautiful. They need a good roll and maybe a couple more weeks before they are back to normal Rated 6/10

The fairways were 50/50 lush to thin. Mostly in good shape. Couple areas of wetness here and there and some dry patches here and there. I thought for the summer where this course is located they are in good shape. Rated 6.5/10

The tees were fairly lush and some were crowned but not to bad. Rated 6.5/10.

The rough was anything from thick 2-3 inches along some fairways, to dry to even hardpan. Rated 5.5/10

The fringes were soft and grabbed a couple of my buddies chips today.

Was in #8 greenside bunker and in #11 greenside bunker which contained raked nice sand to blast out of. Rated 7/10.

Very fun layout--if you can get by #1(layup shot), #3(tee shot) and #4 which I was able to today there are some scoring holes later on in the round. If you can land a deal I would recommend this course.

Also has a nice driving range and practice area.

Played on Memorial day with a tee time before 8 am using one of those golfnow deals. Pace of play for 18 was around 4 1/2 hours. Not used to playing this fast. It was great we hardly had to wait for the next hole.

It's been awhile since I last played here. Tierra Rejada is not an easy course to play. There are a lot of hills on this course plus there are a lot of carries especially for those hitting from the blue tees. It is a fun course to play plus it is a challenge to play. There were a lot of signs on the course telling you about rattlesnakes. Water comes into play on 4 or 5 holes. There's a waterfall behind one of the par 4s on the back nine. Great views of Moorpark from a lot of the holes.

Course conditions were great. Fairways and tee boxes had a lot of coverage. Hardly saw any bare spots. Bunkers were in pretty good condition with lots of sand. One bunker I hit out of was mostly hard packed. The greens were in great condition. Balls were running a little fast on the greens. Some of the greens can be very tricky. Some of the greens were like a bowl on one side. If you didn't hit it hard enough, it would roll back to you. Rough here can be very brutal. Sometimes I only saw the tops of my ball when I was in the rough.

I didn't care for the 1st hole being next to the driving range. The fencing is not high enough on the right side of the driving range, so a lot of balls were landing on the first hole in the fairway. We saw lots of driving range balls here. It got a little dangerous sometimes as we were getting ready to hit our second shots on the 1st hole with driving range balls landing all around us. Not good.

It was nice that there is GPS in the golf carts so that we didn't need to guess the yardages. It came in handy on the 3rd hole with a blind tee shot for the blue tees telling you when the landing area was clear.

Will be back again to play if we get another internet special as it can get a little pricey on the weekends/holidays.

Made it back out to Tierra Rejada for a friend's free birthday round and we split two vouchers for the three rest of us making it around $51 per person, which is a good deal for a Saturday at this track. We had one player who felt shorter than the rest of us so we decided to play the burgundy tees ahead of the blues to make things quicker.

Rejada looks miles better today than it did back in the winter. Green and slick - excellent. The fairways have pretty great coverage right now. The only burned out patches you'll find are in the rough. The rough itself isn't too bad, it's getting into trouble elsewhere that will eat up golf balls and wreak havoc on your scorecard. Cacti, weeds, thick and unforgiving flora of all types, and just for fun, any number of ravines and gorges (mostly on front 9) to mess up your day.

Sand traps varied but were mostly in good shape, and the tee boxes were fine, although a few still showed signs of being punched recently. But not a big deal - plenty of flat lies to get you started.

The greens are very nice right now. Fast is a good description, but not lightning. Maybe 10-10.5 on the stimp? Either way, you can roll it very easily past the hole on many of the very undulated greens. Balls rolled well true though and held shots well. Not too many ball marks either, so that was nice.

POP was not great at around five hours, but I'm gonna go ahead and blame that more on our group. No one was in a particular hurry despite my muffled comments to get it moving. Ultimately though we weren't pushed too much, but I think we could have done better.

Great service throughout at Rejada, from the starters to the very pleasant cart gal that we saw no less than three times all day. Great facilities and place is in very good shape so go take advantage of this fun and very challenging track.

Fairways were in okay shape a little thin with some small bare spots. Rough was cut pretty low so not much of a factor. Found one bunker that was a little thin and firm. Greens were in nice shape rolling medium speed with a few bumps.

Played the Blues (6557/70.6/129) in 4H, 15M on a GN "Hot Deal" for $32.49. Played with Mark & Dave in overcast, drizzling conditions in the 70's with little wind. The tees were Okay with decent coverage. Only a couple of the par 3's needed divot attention. Mixture of many grasses, but mostly level & decent to hit off of. The fairways were semi lush in good shape overall. Most of the rough was thinner than the fairways but still playable. Mostly thin and not overly penal, a few spots closer to the fairways were more lush. A few spots well away from the fairway were lost ball rough. The traps were below average. Several were marked as GUR/free drop. The two sand shots I had the traps were well maintained but could use more sand in them. This was exacerbated by the rainy conditions, making them even more packed. The poa annua greens held approach shots well and the speed was consistent from green to green. They putted nice even though they have some kind of fungus circles on them. Firm (occasionally soft) & medium speed. I have gotten to where I enjoy this layout. Numerous good golf holes on this course. Front = Par 37, Back = par 35 with five par 5's and five par 3's. Extra par 5 on the front & extra par 3 on the back. Several of the par 5's are potentially reachable for longer hitters. Most holes have elevation changes and many holes either play straight up or straight down hill. Not a course for beginners, native brush surrounds nearly every fairway and there are numerous forced carries. The customer service in the Pro Shop was very good, I was quickly matched up and on the tee. No drink cart today. Several holes have nice, decorative and well placed water features that really come into play, and the front 9 in particular has several holes with spectacular views. TR would be a very challenging course to walk due to the elevation changes. GPS on carts to the front, middle & back of the green with yardage markers to fairway traps on some holes. Recommended = Yes, nice course in good shape overall.

Played here this afternoon with the LA Golf Group. I was in the lead group teeing off at 1:00, but we started a little late because of some confusion in the group(s) ahead of us. Not the course's fault, though. After that we never really pushed at all because we were playing a modified 2-man scramble format (every other hole you had to play the worst shot off the tee). We finished in a little under 5 hours. $48 early twilight rate was OK for a weekend round here. The best part of the course was the greens. They were rolling nice at medium speeds. They did get a bit bumpy late in the day, but nothing too bad. Tee boxes fine. Fairways pretty good. Lots of roll out and generally nice lies. The rough was much more hit and miss. It's a hodge podge of everything these days. We had to play one bunker shot and it was a bit thin and crusty. Always a fun course, especially in a format like we played. Lots of trouble to get into on almost every hole. Target golf to the max with tough elevated greens on most holes. Never a dull moment here!
