Our 2nd round of the legend never dye event was on the wolf course. This course is a beast from the tips being the longest in NV topping out over 7600 yards. Throw in the wind and this course will steal your lunch money, girl, and dog in less 9 holes.

Course conditions were 9's and 10's across the board. You would never know that it was been 105° everyday for a month now as the course looks like its in prime season shape. Tee's were level and had good coverage but a few were getting a little torn up later in the day. Fairways were carpet and you could not have asked for better grass to hit from. Rough was thick and nasty and I recommend not finding it. Greens were more firm than those on the Sun course and were a bit faster. Sand still being good even with no rakes.

I highly recommend playing here at least once especially come the back nice were more water comes into play and the afternoon winds start to howl. yes its expensive but IMO worth it.

Played 12/7/19 late morning tee time. Course(s), facility and staff all top notch. This is upscale golf in the high desert. About a 40 minute drive from strip area and provides an upscale golf experience at every level.
It's in an area all by itself desert landscape surrounded by mountain views those to the west snow capped.
The Wolf course is often descibed as the "best" of the three. Snow Mtn and Sun Mountain are the other two. I think any of the three would be a good game.
Today's weather was in the 50's and windy 10-15 mph with higher gusts at times. The staff mentioned the winds and said it wasn't to bad this day. So I suppose in higher winds it would present more challenge. It's just something to be aware of and make the adjustments.
Greens are excellent roll well. Fairways tight and rolling out firm at this time of year.
The Indian reservation has no water restrictions so I'm told the course is green and lush all season.
First of four courses we are playing as a group outing. I'd give this course five star rating highly recommend.

2nd Vegas round. Played Wolf late afternoon when it was pretty much deserted (literally and figuratively speaking). Nice design that seems to harmonize well (mainly) with its stark desert surrounds. Plenty of inventive and surprising elevation change for what appears at first glance to be a flattish desert plain. It has teeth, but less so in the Pete Dye design (for once) and more so due to the constant 15-25 mph wind. Difficulty wise it plays somewhere between Dye's TPC Stadium course and an easier Dye resort design like at Mission Hills in Palm Springs. Conditions were simply awesome. Best, fluffiest, most padded lies I've ever played from in the fairways. I rarely took a divot as the ball sat up so high it was like hitting everything off a tee peg. Greens were flawless and had zero repair marks. Only slight quibble was the inevitable slowness due to it being hot and all the water they receive to stay alive. You can tell it's a Dye design with the mounding bordering each fairway and the subtle slopes on the well bunkered greens. My only critique would be that the inevitable Dye water features did not harmonize well with the terrain, given how stark and primordial it really is. But you play Pete Dye and you must have an island green, I suppose, so #15 is a reprise of #17 'Alcatraz' at TPC Stadium, complete with large boulders ringing the island (or TPCSawgrsss #17 with the bunker in the middle front - at Wolf it's a grass bunker but the look is the same.) I suspect when we colonize the moon or Mars and they build a Pete Dye course there then it too will have to have a water feature/island green too. Paid 89$ which seemed like a steal and all the natives were very friendly and welcoming too (more so than at TPC Vegas). Play it. It's worth it for the views alone even though it's a bit outside the city.

Played Paiute - Wolf on 7/20 while in Vegas for my Brother's Bachelor party. The wolf is a fantastic golf course and worth the drive for sure. Paiute is a world class golf facility with 3 tremendous courses. We took a couple Pauite "newbies" and they were all blown away.

Conditions were 10/10 for mid summer. Greens were actually med/fast speed which is terrific for the 105 degree heat. Fairways were near perfect as well. Not much I can add to what has already been said in previous comments. Visit this course, you wont be let down.

Tip: get an early time or you risk serious afternoon winds. We rolled the dice (no vegas pun intended) on a Noon tee time and we got lucky with only 1 club of wind.

I knew going in that any wind in Vegas means that its 5-10 mph faster at Paiute which was no exception today, roughly 10-15mph most of the day until the storm cells came over then there were some gusts to 30-40.

Course in good shape and looks to be in very tough tournament condition the fairways were cut super short and were firm and fast leading to many shots to roll into the rough. Rough was cut to 1-3 inches and as Kevin said can mess with you a little. I was in two traps the first one was the size of maybe 4 basketballs. It was horrible and had no sand. The second was a fairway bunker and it was perfect so no complaints other than why have a bunker so small.

Greens were amazing! Very Firm and Fast. I made two ball marks in the 16 holes that I played before all hail broke loose. The only reason I made one ball mark was we played the island green 15th after the first storm cell rolled through and softened it up ever so slightly. I might have wished they stayed firm as my tee shot came up 15 inches short of an ace. Oh well thats golf.

In all this will be a round I will remember for ever as on the 16th hole the entire course turned white with the hail. I even used my chipper to putt a ball on the 16th green that was covered in Hail. Sadly I missed it and the par putt bounced three different ways before dropping in the cup. We left after that because it was 40° and the next storm started dumping and blowing at 40mph.

Played today with fellow GK'er Matt, mpisarski01 with a nice local deal for $65 teeing off at 8:15am. We were a twosome following a 3-ball, with another twosome behind us. Around the 8th hole we asked the twosome behind to join us as we had been waiting on the group in front on every hole. Once we did that, the POP smoothed out a bit.

The course in very good shape right now although the fairways were a little tighter than we've normally seen here. But with that said, they were still excellent and allowed for a good amount of roll. Yellow tees had good coverage and were flat, no issues. Was in one bunker and it was fine, although one that Matt was in had no sand. Rough was manageable but could easily grab your club if you're not careful. Greens were the highlight as they were firm (allow for release), putting fast, and rolling sooo PURE! Really fun to putt on.

One note I hope might be addressed in the future, a set of tees or combo set between the blacks (7009 yards) and the yellows (6483 yards) would be really appreciated. 6700-6800 yards would sweet!

Weather ended up being the overall winner today! Started out overcast with a consistent 10-15mph wind. We could see that the mountains surrounding the valley were covered by storm cells. Around the 5th hole the sun came out and it was really nice...for a while. About the time we got to 12/13 the cells moved in and we got some rain. Said rain eventually gave way to sleet, which then turned into hail. But that cell moved out shortly thereafter and luckily we got the play the signature island hole 15 in nice weather. To which, Matt promptly stiffed his shot to about 18" for a tap in bird. Then after we hit our tee shots on 16, all HAIL broke loose as it started coming down to point that we were getting pelted everywhere. A few 40mph gusts combined with the ice pellets was not that fun and slightly painful! It did however make for a really nice photo op as the course quickly became a White Wonderland. Alas, that was enough for us and our playing partners and we decided to call it a day. For this reason I didn't rate the course but I would say it's a solid 8/10 and always recommended, provided the weather cooperates. Thanks Matt for a fun and memorable round!

Played the Wolf on day 1 of my Birthday Bash.
Course is in great shape. Tee boxes and fairways very lush. Greens are in great shape. Some had a tiny bit of sand on them but it did not effect any putts. They are very firm and putted semi fast. Only drawback was the wind. It was howling. I have played in the wind before but I never saw shots drift thirty yards. Was in two bunkers and sand was excellent. Still a great day.
Saw the cart girl several times and customer service was great

Our group of 5 played on 2/21 @ 8:33am and 8:41am on a chilly but not windy day and finished in about 4 1/4 hrs. They don't allow 5some but since we didn't see anyone behind us, played as 5some from 3rd hole and didn't really get pushed by anyone.
Tees, fairways and greens are all excellent. Thought we hit some good shots to greens but apparently we don't swing hard enough (or spin enough) as we couldn't stop anything on the greens. Still enjoyed the isolation, views and well conditioned golf course. Although we all loved the course, I probably would vote "Snow" as my favorite as most of the par 4s on Wolf kinda looked too similar to my eyes. I seemed to remember Snow as having more of a variety compared to Wolf (my opinion only).
Would strongly recommend any of the Paiute courses as they are always well conditioned and you couldn't find such views and isolation in So Cal.

Played an early morning round this past Thursday while out in Vegas for business. Torrential rains (in Vegas?!?) greeted me when I woke up at 5:15am but undaunted, headed up the 95 for the half hour drive to Paiute. Luckily when I arrived there the storm was not directly overhead but there was a bit of rain and plenty of lightning to scare off golfers. We were not deterred and went out around 6:45. By the third hole, sky cleared up, perfect 80+ degrees and a wonderful course to enjoy.

Paiute (Wolf) is really a joy to play and I'm glad I've had the chance to do it twice this year so far. Played with a member again so for $60 it's a total steal. Perfect fairways with fantastic coverage, uniform rough that is challenging but not draining, bunkers in fine shape and tee boxes with no visible issues.

Greens were also in great shape but the heavy rains just before surely slowed them down a bit, but they rolled true and, even after speeding up when the sun came out later, held shots incredibly well. Was surprised to see some ball marks on the greens as most of the guests I assume would be respectable golfers, but you never know. That was the only real blemish I noticed on the course and even that was nitpicking.

Fabulous layout, a few super par 3s, wonderful scenery and great conditions currently make Paiute Wolf a must-play. But be advised that re-seeding will be taking place soon and one of the 18s (Snow I believe) is already closed for re-seeding. Check first. But don't miss out on this really fun course that makes playing golf a very joyful experience.
