Played Siena on Saturday Aug. 24. I was very impressed by the conditions of the course. Tee to green the course was nice. We did have about a 20 min delay from our Tee time, still the course played in about 4 hours on a sat morning.

The only issues i found with the course were the bunkers needing some work. some were soft and others hard as rock. several fairway bunkers on the first 3 holes had standing water in them.

The fairways were soft but in great shape with some areas beat up by the players not sanding divots. The rough was consistent at 2-3" and would stop any ball that found its way into it. The greens were a little furry but still not bad. They were soft and held most shots.

I enjoyed the day at Siena and it is a course i would definitely play again when visiting the Vegas area.

Decided to finally play Siena yesterday as it was nearby my hotel, boy im glad I did. My expectations for this course was mediocre at best but when I arrived the course was in really good summer shape. Very few bad spots on the course and it was very visually pleasing.

Tee's, fairways, and rough were in good shape with plenty of grass and very few burned out spots. i did see a few areas where to mower cut too short but nothing to write home about. Greens were a bit slow but held shots and most were smooth. Sand was a mixture depending on the trap, most were wet from morning watering and a few lacked some sand.

This course is very fun with each hole being a little different than the last making it and enjoyable round. I highly recommend in its current shape.

I've been sidelined with tendinitis the past couple of months, but wanted to post some reviews of courses I played back in the spring. (I kept my scorecards, which helped refresh my memory.)

Siena Golf Club is about 5 minutes from my home here in Summerlin. (About 20 minutes west of the Strip.) I paid the locals cardholder greens fee of $39. While the course often takes a back seat to Arroyo its sister course and cousin Red Rock Country Club, Siena always provides me with a fun and fairly challenging experience.

When I last played the course in May 2019, conditions were excellent. Tee boxes and fairways were quite lush and the greens, while on the slower side, were green and smooth. The rough is basically hard-sand desert with annoying bushes, so like always, it's best to keep it in the fairway. The bunkers at many of the courses here in Vegas feature packed, desert like sand, and that is true for Siena. I remember that I was able to escape the one bunker I was in, by using a close to the ball chip-like swing. Whatever works....

As a high handicapper, I appreciated the benefits of using the white tees, while a couple of my longer hitting friends found a decent challenge from the blues. Often we had the same yardage into the greens, albeit with their use of an 8-iron compared to my hybrid.

Service is always very good at Siena, as it was that day. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful, and we were able to buy beverages from our cart attendant on both the front and back nine.

Again, while not providing the glamour of some of the other Vegas courses, Siena offers a fun, somewhat challenging and, depending on the kind a deal you can get on green fees, affordable option when coming to Vegas.

Was in Vegas to play in a 2 day tournament and the first round was at Siena. Never played here before but my playing partner had and loves it. On an absolutely drop dead gorgeous day, we tee off at 8:00 am. Pretty impressed with the facility. Nice driving range, putting green and the #1 tee box are all right there. No lengthy walk to get warmed up on the range.

Course is in very nice condition. Fairways have good coverage and the lies were excellent. Tee boxes were in great shape. The rough was in good shape and not a factor. Bunkers in great shape with good firm sand.

The greens were in good shape but were hard. Did not hold shots and barley left a ball mark. Bizarre and difficult to judge the speed however. Rolled true but were very grainy and not real fast.

There are a good mix of short/long holes with some doglegs. Some fairways have rock, cactus beds/hazards that cannot be seen from the tee box so driver is not always necessary on many of the holes. I really enjoyed the course. It is a very nice looking course but not real challenging and playing with someone who had played here before was helpful. Not a high end course but not a muni either. Had a great time and look forward to playing here again. Very nice bar and grill and the food was very tasty.

Played 04/01/19. Started as a two-some, but ended up catching up to a third and ended up a three some. POP was 3:23 as a three-some, which was impressive because the two-some ahead of us was waiting on a four-some and we were being pushed. The green fees were way cheaper on their website and because we walked on, we had to plead with the pro-shop to give us the $42 rate as opposed to them charging us $54. A little annoying since he seemed put out. Carts have coolers, but no GPS or USB chargers. The starter I will say, was one of the nicest starters I have dealt with at a course. He was smiling and actually had a conversation with us. The driving range is fairly large and you have to buy balls in order to warm up. The tee boxes were fairly worn out and at times, pretty bare. The fairways in were great shape, along with the rough. The rough didn't seem too bad, but there were plenty to bushes that did a good job of hiding your ball for you. The greens were in really good shape and ran at a true speed. Foot golf is played on this course, and I found that the "hole" was usually in the middle of the fairway. The cart lady was around quite often and I think we saw her 3 times. There are some pretty tricky holes that have rock beds about, 100 yards from the green. They aren't very visible from the tee box, but it makes it pretty challenging. At times, the sand traps were flooded with water and if they weren't, they were pretty packed down. I would definitely play this course again, but I don't know that I would pay more than the $42 bucks that I did.

Having looked at recent reviews here and other various sites my expectations for the round were relatively low, especially after playing Paiute the day before. Given my expectations I was very impressed with the course, maybe because I play the LA munis mostly.

The tee boxes had good, level coverage. The par 3's had some divot damage but had no issue finding a good spot to tee it up. the fairways were a little thin in spots but is typical of desert golf in the winter. While they were thin, the lies were consistent and were cushy enough to play any shot from. A lot of the greens here are elevated which meant you couldn't always play the ground game like I wanted to in these conditions. The rough was great the hit from. It was grown out more than the fairways and played very consistently throughout the course. The bunkers were a mixed bag. The fairway bunkers had a very thin top coat of sand and hard pack underneath, with plenty of rocks and pebbles thrown in -- thankfully we're allowed to pick them out now. The greenside bunkers I was in I found a little more fluffy and easier to hit out of. This is good considering how high many of the lips are coming out toward the greens. Many of the bunkers were wet and some were dry, and plenty between so it was constantly changing conditions. The greens were excellent. They were medium fast and smooth and were rather hard only making it possible to stop fully struck wedges near their pitch mark.

I really enjoyed the variety of hole, scenery, and experience at Siena and will try to stop by again on future trips to Vegas if there is a deal to be had.

Played on Friday, 9/14, early morning as part of a 3 group Bachelor Party outing. Staff was incredible, outside of the starter, who said if we didn't get to the tee we would not be playing at all. Tee'd off on time, finished exactly at 4 hours. Someone was a bit cranky. Outside of that guy, everyone else was fantastic. I left my range finder stuck on the cart and they delivered it to their sister course, Arroyo at Red Rock, prior to us teeing off. Great F&B staff the whole weekend, outside cart guys were helpful.

Conditions were not so great:
Tee boxes: Fine, level, some divot damage but very playable
Greens: Best part of the course. Fantastic shape. Smooth, medium pace.
Bunkers: Decent, some heavy sand which may have been caused by the morning watering
Fairways and Rough: 50% coverage at best, hard pan, thin, muddy. Just horrible.

I later found out Siena uses Rye grass year round, and Rye is very susceptible to fungus (it sounded believable so I bought in). With that, they have chopped and tore up lots of grass and began new seeding.

Just can't recommend this course and can't give a timeline when it's in playing shape.

Played 9/23/17 . I am not a fan of this course in it's current condition. There were far too many dead areas and dirt patches for it to be caused by over-seeding. Looked like long term issues. The cuts were still quite prevalent and that was after a month healing time. The sand was hard packed but a local we played with said they'd had rain the prior week so that explains it. The greens were actually in nice shape. Very undulating and somewhat hard to read, medium speed, fun to putt on! The snack cart was around quite frequently and the ladies were friendly and attentive. Marshalls were around frequently too. Too bad they were completely useless. We followed a foursome the entire round. Older guys. 200 yd drives playing the blues. They'd wait until the green cleared on a Par FIVE before they'd hit a drive...200yds IF they hit the fairway. And so on and so on- for 18 holes. We saw several holes where there were three or four GROUPS waiting on the tee. Marshalls were aware of all this but stated there was nothing they could do. Maybe not. What became clear as the day wore on was that the management big time overbooked the course! This, of course, made all the golfers miserable. Poor pace of play management, profit over quality experience. They were one of the few courses open during this time of year (lots of maintenance going on) and they took advantage of it. The layout is interesting, and if well cared for it would be a nice course with enough challenge to be fun. The views are phenomenal all the way around. Houses line the fairways but aren't close enough in most cases for it feel crowded. Despite all the course issues I played well and enjoyed the round. We were paired with a young guy originally from our area and had a lot of things in common to laugh and talk about. Our goal was just go have a fun round and we did that. But I wouldn't be in a hurry for a repeat round.
