Played here Tuesday, Nov. 7 with an 11:00 "Deal" time from TeeOff.com as Day 2 of a 3-day Vegas golf trip. Started right on time, coincidentally paired with two guys also from Orange County and one of their brothers from Indiana. Good group. Pace was a bit erratic with the group in front of us sometimes jumping ahead out of sight and sometimes still on the tee when we arrived. Overall pace was good, though, at about 4:15 total. Windy day but otherwise great weather. Conditions are quite good. Greens are smooth, medium speed, and medium firmness. I felt like grain and/or wind impacted the speed of the greens quite a bit. Fairways are great, nothing to complain about at all. Rough is well defined but not too penal; maybe 2-3 inches deep. Black tee boxes (equivalent of blue; red is the tips here) were mostly in good condition but on some holes it seemed the markers have been in the same place for several days due to lots of divots; could use to be moved around a bit. Bunkers were the low point. I was in two and one was total hardpan and the other was just a little better. Seems like they were inconsistent throughout the course, but I think it's safe to say all of the bunkers could use some TLC. This was my second time playing here. They've flipped the nines since that round in 2014 or 2015, but this time they had us start on 10, so it played the same for me. Fun course with some nice elevation changes and faraway views of The Strip from a few holes. I shot my best all-time score during this round... 40-32 for an even par 72. Super stoked! Beverage cart came around 2 or 3 times.

Played in 6 man scramble last week, course is in really great shape, unless you count the greens are still not completely healed from some aeration. Bunkers around greens have just enough "Dirt" to be playable, fairway traps are thin "Dirt" and can also be played out of. Would put this one on the level of most public courses in Palm Desert area.

Played the last week of Jan and I felt it was really expensive. $85 green fee with $2.50 in pre-pay fees. I really didn't want to pay that much, but on the other hand, the course was in fantastic shape.

The staff is always nice, food is good and its a good view. I used to only pay $39 to play here, and the $85 fee will turn me off all the time. There are numerous courses that are every bit as nice, but not as expensive.

Drop the prices Chimera!

There's nice driving range, currently on mats due to temps. There's a small putting green/chipping area at the first tee, but there's nice large putting green near the 10th tee/bar area which made more sense before they flipped the 9s. It's tucked away and doesn't flow with the current setup.

Course is in really good shape. Tee boxes did have some divot damage, to include some of the longer "driver" holes. Fairways were lush with great grass coverage and no visible thin/brown areas. Rough was about 1-2 inches, just enough to define the fairways and not too penal. Bunkers were decent, with thick heavy sand. Greens were great. Smooth and and medium fast.

Customer service was good. Carts have GPS to the pin and 2 bottles of water. The bar/grill is excellent. Great food and drinks and good service. After a delay where we didn't see the drink cart until the 8th hole, we saw both drink carts 3 times on the back 9.

So here's my issue with Chimera: Famed02 booked and prepaid through their website for $85, plus a $2.50 each golfer "convenience fee. So the price is about $10 above comparable courses, but I think Friday is a "weekend" rate day, plus its a prime time, so ok. However, to charge extra for prepay is ridiculous. Almost every course I know that offers prepaid rounds, offers them at a discount compared to paying at the course (Revere, Coyote Springs, Sunrise, etc).

As much as I enjoy Chimera, there's always something with it that makes me want to avoid it unless someone else books it. They seem to push "appearance" over substance, like the silly drone food delivery system. (You can order food for delivery, but only on holes 8-10 due to flight restrictions, even though 10 tee is at the bar/grill. They then send a cart and drone spotter out to you, and then the drone flies in with your order. Instead of just driving your order out to you)

Condition wise, this course is a 7-7.5 rating. Course is lush and green. Traps are bare, while greens are medium speed. I played Saturday 11/27 and finished in 4.25 hrs.

Chimera is one of my favorite courses, however, it seems like it's gone a little down hill.

The staff were very nice and accommodating. Cart girls were always around and they now have drone technology to deliver the food to your hole. It's limited to the 8,9 and 10th hole, but it's still pretty cool.

The fairways were in pretty rough shape with a lot of bare dirt spots. Long rolls on a drive, which is good for distance, but some areas were dirt.

The sand traps were compacted dirt and no way to get under the ball. They weren't puddles, but they were pretty wet.

The greens had been punched and sanded about 1-2 weeks ago and so they WERE SLOW!. The tee boxes were in great shape and probably the nicest part of the course.

Teed off at 9 am and they were already running low on carts.

I really hope this course improves it's conditions. I like to play it, but for what they charge, they really need to up their game.

Played on Friday, 7/2, with a 10:30ish tee time with the crew from Cocky & Lucky Social and Golf Club.. Full disclosure: I have a real love/hate relationship with this course, I want to hate it, but then I play and end up loving it. My 1st time at this course was a bad experience (years ago) and it has changed for the better. Range is great. All grass and is included with a small basket (about 30 balls). They also have Trackman for extra if you want to see the numbers. Staff is awesome here. I was the 3rd to arrive and our carts were at the range. The attendant carried my clubs to the range while I was checking in and grabbing a Bloody Mary (it was ok, no olives though). On the 2nd tee, a marshal pulled up with some cold towels for those of us that forgot our cool towels. While we didn't have the Instagram famous drink cart girl, the drink cart was around twice per 9 and the marshals were out keeping everything in line. I passed on hitting Blaze 19, which has incredible pizza and some nice taps. For a Friday late morning, we finished in under 4 hours, allowing a single to play through around 14. Pace was incredible. For the start of summer, the course is in incredible shape. Minus some thin spots in downhill areas, the course is in prime shape. A few canted tee boxes, but all lush and easy to tee. Fairways were lush, but the raised greens caused some thin areas which were really soaked today. Rough is a bit rough. Bunkers are really good, with some heavy sand but better than most Vegas courses. About 1-2 inches along the fairways. Around the greens, it was kinda crab grass like which caused some issues. I have no problems with it, hit the fairway and green and there's no issue. Greens rolled about a medium speed, but there were some bumps on a few putts. There may be some Kikuya mixed in. I do love Chimera and outside my first round there, I have had a great time there. Great food. Incredible staff. I wish they flip the 9s back as 7-9 is such a better finish on this Ted Robinson Jr design (and 10 is such a better opener with the Pegasus at the back of the boxes). My main issue is price, as they are way above most local places of the same caliber. We paid $39 after 10am, which is about right, but $75+ for prime spots is a bit high. If it wasn't such a drive, I was play here more often.

Played 1-22-21 afternoon with JohnnyGK on a windy afternoon with rain starting on the 13th so we decided to pack it in. Tee boxes were mostly level with some being a little beat up but overall in decent shape. Fairways were nice with good coverage and nice lies, a few had some divot damage but most were in good shape. Rough was cut low and in good shape. Was not in any bunkers but they looked okay, just a lot of foot prints with no rakes. Greens were running medium/fast, mostly smooth, and semi-soft. Decent course running through a housing track with some fairly wide fairways, a few water holes and some minor elevation mixed in. Worth a stop.

After playing Reflection Bay Golf Club Friday, rgm2525 decided to head over to nearby Chimera Golf Club. It has been over 10 years since both of us played the golf course. Back when it was named Tuscany Golf Club. The weather turned very windy with some rain on the back nine so we only got in 13 holes. Of the holes we played I thought the golf course was in good shape. Greens the highlight running medium fast, mostly smooth and holding shots. Fairways were in good shape, mostly lush with occasional thin areas. Rough was pretty the same of the fairways with greenside rough more lush. Bunkers in good shape although no rakes due to COVID-19 safety protocol. Tee boxes due the high amount of play had divot damage but it was not a problem finding a good piece of turf to hit off. It’s a fun layout built among a housing community. There are great views at times of the desert surroundings. Service was good throughout the experience. I’d like to get back out there with some better weather. Still managed to get some good pics so check them out. Recommended.
