I called a number of courses yesterday and everyone told me they were booked solid Monday morning, but Westridge said they were not too busy, so that's where I ended up.

It had been a while since I played here. Very cold morning given how late in March it is. Pro shop worked with me and got me out first which was very much appreciated. A big thank you to the staff!

Greens were the best part of the course, not great, but decent, albeit a little too slow for my taste. Fairways were rather "scruffy" , plus they had huge areas which were either scheduled to be re-sodded, or will be environmental areas? Lots of sand in the bunkers, and I was in quite a few. Rough was only so-so at best.

I was advised they are going to revert to the original routing, but no date was provided for the change.

Ah, the joys of showing up as a single. Had an 8:45 tee time for $38, got off about 10 minutes late due to the three "locals" I was paired up with; they were arguing with the starter because they didn't want to play with me. Great start to the round. Sigh.

The course is in very choppy winter condition. Unmowed across the board due to recent rains, everything (tees, fairways, rough and greens) is long, shaggy and slow. Bunkers were hard and muddy. A mowing would help conditions, but probably not much due to the mixed grasses pretty much everywhere.

The bones of the course are still intact, and the design is mostly pretty good...but I'll be staying away for a few months to see how better weather can improve this place. Not recommended at this time.

Morning tee time at Westridge. They have many different tee boxes and are able to utilize to keep in good shape. Fairways are a little on the thin side and really need to plan on the ball running out. Rough had good coverage. Greens are lush and accepts shots, lots of unfixed ball marks and unraked traps. Greens were on the bumpy side and were medium fast. Pin placement on hole 14 is darn near impossible to get the ball close.
POP was close to five hours. Course is a good test and requires every club in your bag.

Spent Christmas Day at Westridge for the first time ever. Played with three good friends after we had gotten a very nice $40 rate with cart booked for a 10:07 tee time. I was highly anticipating playing this cool course and, in many ways, was not let down. This is a Muni with a very private course layout in terms of its difficulties and setup. They're very professional getting everyone off in time and keeping things moving. We started on the 10th tee for some reason yesterday but that was fine as I knew it was the old way they had the nines routed. As for the layout itself, super hilly and narrow in a lot of places. You need to be accurate off the tee, but in many ways it's the second shot that really requires the skills. If you're on though, will be super fun. Now conditions are of course another variable altogether. Right now you'll find a lot of browned out and thin fairway lies, but there's also a decent chance to find some nice grass - just really a lot of hit or miss out there. The rough is not much longer so it's often tough to see where the fairways end and the rough begins. Tee boxes were definitely far too un-level in many boxes, but the coverage was mostly good. Bunkers? Not great. Found some that didn't know if they wanted to be sand or hard mud with lots of debris. A few others were okay. But they could definitely be better. Greens were in good shape and ran medium fast. There are a lot of strong breaks and undulations on the greens so be prepared to hit putts and chips at some awkward angles. Some of the pin positions were simply ludicrous though and it's a trend I've noticed in far too many places of late. Putting the flag in at the 40 degree slope is simply cruel and unusual punishment. And on the 18th green I've never seen so much coot excrement in my life! Pretty gross. No cart service all day but there is a snack shop at the turn near the cart barn and putting green. I had a great day off the tee personally but it's also very easy to lose balls here or there and suffered four penalties as well, so you have to be accurate. If you can score well here, you're a baller. I do look forward to coming back and trying to do better when the conditions are prime. Think it will be top-notch fun on that day.

Today - played at 9:15am, as a foursome in about 4:45 POP. Not too bad, for a Saturday morning.
Course was in decent shape for being a complete waste of time about 6 months ago.
Tess were the worst part, but still ok. Lots of uneven tee boxes, but you can find a flat spot. Fairways were thin in some spots, but definitely playable, and had good roll out. Bunkers were ok. Some had small rocks, but mostly ok.
Greens were good. Super fast and held their lines, with not too many divots.

I played here based on a review someone wrote in the last week or so. Very glad I did.
I’d recommend. Still a little rough around the edges, but definitely playable again, and has recovered extremely well from the poor conditions of 2014 - early 2017.

Early tee time on Black Friday. The previous review was spot on and not much to add. Need to be below the hole on the greens, had four 3 putt greens all were down hill putts. Staff was running a tight ship and an overall enjoyable day.

I got a great price after 11am on Tuesday, Nov. 14, so I gave Westridge a whirl. The service was great in the pro shop … very efficient and courteous.
Course conditions were pretty darn good. Cart path only on holes 1 and 10. The tee boxes had been over seeded, so all the movable markers were at the very back of the teeing areas. Tee to green, the grass coverage was good to adequate. The bunkers I was in had enough sand in them, though the players ahead of me failed to rake their footprints on a couple of occasions (not the course's fault).The greens were in good shape, which means they are tricky to read for players who don't play here often.
I really enjoy the layout here. It's plenty long for recreational players, and
many of the holes have unique character and challenging greens. I had a couple issues with previous management here, but the current owner seems to be better. It looks like Westridge will be allowed to die with dignity, at least.
Sentimentality is a big part of the golf landscape. I suggest that you play Westridge at least once more … if you're heart is in the game.

Played Westridge on 11/13/17. Pleasantly surprised to see this course hanging on, still a fun track to play. Conditions are decent these days, greens pretty good for the most part. Sand traps were good. Fairways generally have decent coverage. It looks like they have done a lot of seeding on tee boxes. Coverage is sparse, but growing in. So you'll see tee boxes with long thin grass coming out of sand. They do have the tees set on the very back or front edges of boxes - and they obviously haven't been moved in a while. So until they determine the new grass is ready, you will find challenging conditions on the tees. That being said, I didn't have any problems playing off of them with generous use of the two club length rule. POP was fine. Started as a single at 7:15. Ran into a twosome at #5. They didn't bother to waive me through, not a big deal as I was enjoying watching their combination golf swings / karate kick follow through. Still, got done in just under 4 hrs. Hang in there Westridge! A nice course at a decent price, rare for OC.
