I have played this course since it first opened and today was the best I have seen it in years. I realize it might be due to the amount of rain we received this year, but having a course in country club quality still means something. The fairways and rough were in perfect shape with a defined difference between the two. The greens were smooth and rolling quickly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the bunkers (fairway and green side). They had sand in them, but it was extremely hard and played inconsistently. The superintendent needs to spend some time there. Lastly, as always, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It is always a pleasure playing this course and dealing with the staff. Keep up the good work.

Played here on 5/9/19. It was frankly in great shape. While I personally didn’t golf well, that would be operator error rather than poor conditions. It was remarkably uncrowded and our two foursomes had a great time. The personnel were wonderful; the starter, clubhouse people and the beverage servers (bar and cart young lady!).

Greens were pretty fast but the ball held surprising well. Course knowledge helps here but have played it quite a few times...that said, I’ve never seen it in better shape.

Highly recommended!

Played today knowing that there were possible rain showers forecasted in the afternoon. Got in 14 holes before the steady rain hit however our group powered on and finished the round a little wet but not soaked. We were the only group left on the course. Today was cart path only.
Some small areas of standing water which we played as water hazards with no penalty. The course is green and in very nice conditions. The greens rolled medium fast surprising with all the rain. They have the Gold Card for $99 which includes a free round and discounted rounds for the rest of the year which is a good deal.

Played here 3/2/19 with a 1:03Pm tee time. My friend and I were hesitant about going out because of the rain but we were one of two groups on the course the entire day! Pace of Play was whatever we wanted it to be but we finished in 4 hours. Granted, we took our time and it 2 tee shots on #18 because of the elevation. Greens were in great shape given the rain, fairways were thin and balls rolled forever. Sand was muddy due to rain but seemed like it would have been pretty good if it had been dry. Tee boxes were in pretty good shape and pretty level. Some had a little damage but not too much. This course is not an $85 course, but it is well worth a good $60 on a weekend. Max I would pay is $65 not the $85 they typically charge. Starter was kind and friendly. Never saw cart girl but then again it was pouring down rain and there were a total of 5 people on the course lol.

Early morning tee time Tuesday at Glen Ivy. Check in and first tee well organized. More than a couple tee boxes were not level and pretty beat up. Fairways and rough were a little on the thin side, probably because it gets pretty cold out. Aprons around the greens were wet and muddy. Greens were lush and smooth, very few unfixed divots and rolled medium fast. Bunkers have a mixture of dirt, rocks and beach type sand in them.
Lake on 18 has water again. POP was a little over three hours since we were the second group out. Great layout and always a fun day at Glen Ivy.

Played 11/23 at 7:20 and saw the upgraded driving-range and construction on the new wedding/events hall. Before today, previously played here in March of 2018 and had pretty similar conditions. The tee boxes (blue) were almost all shaggy (couldn't mow after Wednesday night/Thursday morning rain?), fairways were decent, but spotty, greens were smooth and soft. The two bunkers I hit were okay. Hard to describe, but there was very inconsistent coverage in the rough, especially near the greens & bunkers. Slightly disappointing. We played here because we didn't feel like driving further out towards Beaumont from OC, but after two round in 2018, we'll wait for better conditions for a few years. Pace of play was not an issue....for being one of the supposed busiest days of the golf calendar, the course was noticeably quiet in the early morning during our warm up and when we made the turn.

Finally got out to play again. Wish someone told me having a wife would put such a damper in your golfing habits. Played 11/18. Golfnow botched my tee time, but the gentleman in the proshop was super nice and got me out no problem. Teed off at ~630 POP was 3.5 hours only because I slowed down dramatically at one point. There was one 4-some that let me through without issue.
Tee boxes - Far and away the worst part. Soggy, far more dirt than grass, and all tees were at the white box. I still played the tips except on the par-3s. Even the tees there need working on.
Fairways - Great. Dormant winter yellowish/green but the depth of grass was awesome. Felt like a cushion under every ball in the fairway.
Rough - Super patchy. Hit and miss about whether it existed or not.
Bunkers - Wet and thin. Too compact to do much. They need some work too.
Greens - Great. Rolling a solid 10, especially as it warmed up throughout the morning.

Overall I really enjoy this course, even with the areas that need work. As the previous reviewer said, when you walk away feeling like you enjoyed yourself, even with some conditions substandard, that is a nice round of golf and a solid place to play.

I was surprised that it had been over 3 1/2 years since I'd last played here. Always enjoyed this course, as I find the holes fun, interesting, and love the fact there are no parallel holes.

I was surprised that it had been over 3 1/2 years since I'd last played here. Always enjoyed this course, as I find the holes fun, interesting, and love the fact there are no parallel holes.

Condition overall was quite good, with the greens being the best part. They rolled well and were faster than they appeared. Fairways had good coverage. Bunkers were hit/miss. Tee boxes are kind of "chewed up" could use some attention.

I think the best compliment I can pay a golf course is that when you play absolutely awful, and still enjoy the course - that speaks volumes. Staff was great. Green fees are a bit steep, certainly compared to the local competition.

Played an early afternoon twilight round at Glen Ivy on Friday this past week. Never played this course before so I was very excited to try it out. Paid $51 with cart and range balls before teeing off with a pleasant older couple and another single - fun, nice group. Hit from the blue tees on a hot, late fall day.

Pretty tough layout in many spots at Glen Ivy. The first hole, while it's a downhill par 5, is very narrow and you better hope you were hitting them straight on the range. The course winds through a housing community and you can forget about walking this track with many of the long distances between holes and the extreme elevation shifts, especially on the back nine. There are a lot of fun holes here though, my favorite being the uphill par 5 7th on the front and the par 3 14th over water on the back. Goes without saying that the 18th is a truly memorable elevated tee shot with risk/reward written all over it.

Conditions unfortunately were not as good as I was expected or was hoping for at this time. The fairways are very dry and browned out but you will also find some lush areas interspersed. Lies were still mostly good either way, but you can tell how nice this course would be if the watering/rain was more abundant. The water features seem cumbersome here and even the lake surrounding the 16th green is currently empty entirely. Not sure what's going on there, but everyone is suffering from the dry conditions.

Greens were very fast though and had nice coverage and held shots fairly well. Speed was very tough to gauge though, especially on some of the more tiered or sloped greens. Very important to stay below the hole here if you can. Bunkers and tee boxes were just okay and could use some improvement.

Driving range area is nice and locals can simply pull their cars or carts right behind the stalls, so that was kind of interesting. It was a hot day and there were water stations every few holes, but we only saw the cart service once or twice throughout the round. Not a big deal though.

I would definitely like to play Glen Ivy again someday and have a much better front nine, but I'm not going to be in any rush with so many other options around until I hear that the conditions are just a little greener and more lush. But it's by no means a no-go at this point, just think there's some work that can be done to make this a much more awesome experience.
