Staff management is suffering, unprofessional check in desk, beware of the attitude at the desk. Starters out by putting greens are the courses gentlemen and very customer friendly. It’s disturbing to run into desk idiots who treat people poorly as if they own the course and appear to be having a bad day. Course layout and price is the only reason I’ll play, they rest prepaid times pretty bad, be prepared to get your head handed to you if you ask if there’s any chance of getting out earlier (not busy, wide open). You would think if the course is trying to get back on their feet they would treat the customers better, but it’s not in the cards if they keep treating the public poorly.

Played here today with a 2:00 tee time reserved on their website for $40. Check in went smoothly. The starter out by the practice green paired me with another single and we started a bit early. Pace was excellent and we finished in just under 3 hours. With very hot temperatures, it was great to constantly keep moving and finish so quickly. There was also a pretty good breeze most of the day to keep things tolerable.

Conditions wise, the Valley nine (front nine) feels a little more rough around the edges than the Mountain (back) nine. Blue tee boxes were fine, no problems finding a good spot to tee it up. Fairways aren’t the prettiest but had good coverage with decent cushion under the ball. The rough is truly a mixed bag anything from deep patches of clover to bare spots, etc. I was in one bunker and it was excellent. And then the greens… they are outstanding! They’re still very soft and spongy like when they reopened last summer, but extremely pure other than the unfixed ball marks, which were somewhat plentiful. (Ball marks are hard NOT to notice when the greens are so smooth and pure otherwise.) The greens ran about medium speed – a little slower than they look – and accept full shots very well. Overall the front nine feels pretty rugged (especially if your ball leaks right between the holes that go out and back) and the back nine is great.

I still think their early morning weekend rate is a little high at $75, but the $40 rate that starts at 2:00 is a good value. Definitely recommended as long as you’re not too picky about the aesthetics on the front side.

First out at 6:30am, but since nobody even showed to open the pro shop until after that time, a bit hectic to begin the round. After playing #1, maintenance was spraying the par 3 second hole, so no flag stick? Plus there was a twosome on the third hole when we reached that hole, so we had to skip to get around them. (No idea where they came from?) The Lake nine is always rather scruffy, but is better than it was the lest time I played here. Mountain nine being in much better condition. The greens were by far the best part of the course. They were smooth, rolled well, receptive, but were just too slow ! Bunkers had plenty of sand, but none were maintained. Despite the start, enjoyed the round and was able to finish long before the predicted 100 degree heat projected today. I much prefer the Mountain nine, but still thrilled that this course was able to make a come back from it's closure.

The bones of a top-level course are there but the flesh is wanting. I’d been wanting to get out here since the old Moreno Valley Ranch course was opened back up as Rancho del Sol GC, after being closed for several years. The old Valley/Mountain 9s are currently being used. I met up with GKer Circaflex for a GK Cup match.

Booked thru the course website for 10:50am on Sunday, 5/30/21, for $64, and found that the course books their times thru GolfNow. We got out there early as traffic was light, and found that there is no driving range as that area is currently being graded for residential development. The construction only impacts the first and last holes of the old Mountain 9, so holes 10 and 18 on the current card. A large new putting green is in great shape and rolls very nicely (a little faster than the on-course greens). We were surprised that the course was not that busy on this holiday Sunday, so we were able to get out early and were never pushed from behind, catching the group in front of us on hole #6 and moving behind them thereafter, finishing in about 4 hours.

Greens were easily the best part of the course – you can tell that’s where they are putting their money. They looked good, had good coverage, and accepted shots well, rolling at medium speed. Fairways were pretty uniformly thin, dry, and had clumpy grass, with scattered bare areas. Lies were tight but generally OK. Rough was wildly variable, from bare dirt to some areas of think clover/grass. Overall the surrounds are very dry, and offline shots could easily run long distances into trouble. I wasn’t in any bunkers, but Kevin said they were generally OK. I noted that the sand in the greenside bunker on hole #0 looked very deep and fluffy. Tees were thin but almost all level.

There’s a definite overwhelming construction look around clubhouse area; the golf shop/snack bar/restrooms are currently in trailers next to closed clubhouse, and as noted the range has been bulldozed and graded. Driving in from the 18th green, there appear to be mostly new windows in clubhouse, so they may be getting it ready to try to reopen it, rather than tear down/build anew. Snack bar had a limited and poor selection of beverages.

Basic carts with no GPS or ball washer/club cleaner, and I don’t remember seeing ball washers on the tees. Friendly staff, and we saw cart girl a several times, and a ranger a couple times on the front side. The course definitely needs a big cash infusion to upgrade infrastructure and get conditions improved. That would bring it back closer to what it used to be and help generate more playing interest. That’s not likely to happen until real estate sales kick in and generate the cash needed. Hopefully, the new owners will consider improvements to the course to be in their long-term interest.

A fun and challenging play, and we’ll hope for improving conditions going forward.

Played Monday at 11:20 as a single, no rain, a touch of wind on last 4 holes....Two sum in front of me even knew me from Yucaipa Valley they let me go through and I saw NO ONE the next 15 holes. Less then 2 hour round with a few extra shots included....Greens worth the $45, fairways on valley (front nine) are close to terrible just to many bare spots...Fairways on Mountain (back nine) much better just a little tight in some areas...have been out there 5 times now sense they re-opened enjoy putting the greens as much as any around...put up with the fairways because the back nine (mountain) is about as much fun as any nine we play.

I was able to get out today to Rancho Del Sol. A good buddy requested that we go here as it is one of his fav's. Pop was around 4 hrs maybe a little slow on the front but picked up on the back. Greens were in great shape today, very true roll and faster than I thought, yet they held nicely the approaches. The fairways are dried out from winter and the rough is chewed up. The tees were in good shape as they have moved them around lots in the last few days according to the starter. The sand was awesome, maybe the best part to the course aside from the greens today. I thoroughly enjoyed Rancho, its challenging and scenic while not overwhelming. I wish this course had a range, it was cold in the morning and I would have loved to warm it up a little. It feels like this course is going in the right direction and I look forward to playing it again. The starter might be one of the best guys out there, he had us dying with laughter before our round. Much appreciated the looseness. Recommended.

2/27 playing with my son Grant and two of his friends from the old neighborhood, Rod and Richard for an enjoyable recreational round of golf full of trash talk and laughter especially at the misfortune of others interspersed with some good golf shots and the mandatory exchange of a few dollars. Had a 30 min frost delay which compacted the groupings leading to a 5 hr POP which was offset by the company in the 4some.
Fairways are in winter thin condition with some patches of grass that can provide better lies.
Firm conditions helped with the roll out. Rough is generally short with a few areas on slopes that were downright brutal. Beyond the rough there is a variety of weeds shrubs bushes etc so even finding your ball is going to likely cost you a stroke or more.
Tees are thin and some very firm. Bunkers mostly have adequate sand but even with grooming really showed the wear from all the traffic and lack of rakes.
Greens are firm at least medium fast and tricky with some pin placements today leaving little margin for error and inviting an easy 3 putt.
Staff is friendly and welcoming. Drink cart was actively circling.

Played here Saturday 2/13 in our GK match. First time here. Gary had Under Par vouchers so he checked us all in, so can't comment on pro shop service. The snack bar service was very good - friendly service. Starter was friendly and kept things organized and moving well. On course marshals out monitoring and letting us know they were doing what they could to keep the on pace. We finished right around 4.5 hours.
My playing partners covered most everything in their reviews. Not an overly long course, and some room to miss (more so on the front 9 than back 9) - but definitely a course you want to play from the fairway. Greens were nice. Tee boxes and fairways in winter shape. I like the layout (would like it more if my game were in better shape) and this could be a great course with maintenance work. Good value for what we paid, and couldn't ask for a better group to play golf with. Was able to enjoy a beverage with the boys on the patio after the round which was nice to finally be able to do again.

First time out at Rancho Del Sol on Sat for our gk cup match. I had medium expectations going in after reading prior reviews on Gk. I really enjoyed the layout as its a typical Pete Dye course for the front nine. Back nine reminded me a lot of hidden valley. Conditions were a mixed bag fairways were patchy with two types of grass and we played preferred lies because of it. Rough was he same as well as the tee boxes. The greens however were very nice, a little spongy but rolled very smooth and medium paced. For the great underpar deal we had I would not mind coming back. They do need hitting nets or something to make up for them selling the range to a home builder.
