Played 8-23-18 early morning as a single for $35 including cart and playing in a little over two hours. Tee boxes were mostly in good shape with some minor thin spots and a few of them being a little sloped. Fairways were a mix of mostly nice and lush lies with some thin and bare areas thrown in, they were very wet and had little roll out. Rough was in bad shape, looks like they have stopped watering it so it is thin and clumpy with a lot of bare spots. Was in a couple greenside bunkers that had been heavily watered so it was like playing out of mud rather than sand. Greens were in good shape but running slow and very soft, they had put a lot of water on them so some of them still had standing water and even a few of the cups were full to the top. Have definitely seen this course in better shape, don't know if its just from the heat or new management.

Played on Saturday morning, 8/4/18, at 0830 with my monthly club – we play here every August. Weather was hot and humid, and we didn’t get much breeze to take the edge off the heat until the latter portion of the back nine. 5-hr pace, behind slow groups of drinkers/music players didn’t help.

I’m not sure how hot it’s been in Chino lately, but the course is in struggling condition. At this time of the morning everything was very wet from overnight irrigation. Many mushy areas in the fairways. Fairway areas pretty soft and you don’t get a lot of runout on drives. Greens very damp/soft, to the point of badly showing footprints and spike marks on the front nine – putts were bobbing and weaving on the way to the hole.

Overall greens had good coverage and rolled at medium speed. They were bumpy early on from the footprints, but conditions on the back nine were better as the greens dried out and firmed up a little. Fairway and rough coverage was very spotty – you could have a great fairway lie feet away from a bare area – there were large bare areas in fairways and rough scattered throughout the course. Many tees were unlevel and/or spongy from thick, wet turf. Sand we encountered was generally good.

The GPS system discussed on the GK board was deployed on our carts. No info from the shop on options or use, so it just sat there during the round. Lots of ads and news – only one line with hole info (hole #, par, distance). Yardage was stated as “to the pin” but several checks indicated that the yardage was to the center, so user be aware.

No cart girl – there’s a snack shack on the 7th/16th tee. Water fountain between #12/13 was not working. The group in front of us was two holes behind on the 10th tee, after going in after #9 to get drinks. We asked the starter to help move them along, and he sent a marshal out to talk to us – marshal said he would ‘monitor’ the group. Not sure what this means, as after he drove up to check their situation he was seen driving back to the clubhouse – must be ‘remote monitoring’? Maybe he was using a drone?

Same marshal drove into our group while we were hitting our approaches on #1, then gave me crap when I mentioned this to him. New management group must be trying out a new customer service model.

I like the course but conditions are very rough right now.

Played here 7/27/18 with an 11:30am Tee time. First let me start off by saying THEY NO LONGER ACCEPT BIRTHDAY ROUNDS. The course is under new management and we did not like it at all! $45 in 106 degree heat and it was not worth the green fee at all!

Greens- Soft and rolled true, probably the best part of this course. Lots of ball marks though.
Fairways- Decent, a few dead spots here and there and uneven grass everywhere, they need to learn how to mow!
Rough- Terrible, some areas were hard pan while other areas was 3-4 inches of grass. Uneven lies, woodchips and bare spots, one minute you are playing out of a jungle the next you have a better lie than your friend whos on the fairway! It's ridiculous.

Sandtraps- decent sand but a but muddy.
Water- Clean and clear.

I was not impressed with this course compared to the last time we played it. Course was much nicer under the old management. I suggest if you are playing this course after 10:30 am DO NOT PAY MORE THAN $30! Sad that they aren't doing the maintenance they should be doing.

Played Fri jul 27th at 714. Got to the course at 550 and the air was heavy, but from the road I could see #1 tee box, when we got to the starter shack we saw people stacked on #1, starter said there was a 20 minute fog delay, well we had breakfast from 6 to 7 and we sure didn't see it. So we get to #1 the GPS is working, figured it was free on #1 and then stops, hole #2 also worked as did the entire course so I don't know if it was a mistake or they decided to give it free. Did not try the other stuff, music etc as I don't want that stuff. Still paid $35 senior so I hope that stays the same. The course was very very over watered. Some fairways really wet, like 18, hit my lay up shot short of the water and we saw it land and then nothing, got to it and it was completely covered in mud, rough was very long wet and penal in sone areas, bunkers were light on sand and I was even in water in one of them, getting out of them i tried hitting about 3/8" behind the ball instead of 1 1/2" like I usually do in soft sand and it actually worked. Greens were receptive but were again bumby because they are so wet the tractor tires leaves grooves. Speed was consistent. POP was 428, a little long.

Played the South Course on 7/24. Surprised to see that the course was not crowded. They have brand new golf carts with GPS and built in radio and blue tooth speakers. POP was 3.5 hours.

The greens were damp and squishy I guess they were keeping them wet for the extreme heat. The tee boxes had thick grass and the tees sunk into them even with the 3" tees. Ended up finishing at 11 am right when the temperatures started to hit 97 degrees.

Morning tee time LS south. This course is a beast, playing the white tees and still 6700 yards. They are putting a lot of water on the course and the ball had little run on the fairways. Rough was up around the green complexes. Traps had good consistent sand and were well groomed. Greens held shots, were smooth and running medium speed. The heat is getting to areas that really are not in play.
POP was right at four hours. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Played 7-14 with my monthly mens club. We were supposed to start at 9:15 but there was another tournament ahead that was very slow so we started about 20 minutes late and the round ended up being 5 hrs and 20 minutes on a very hot day. We spent way too much time waiting.
Tee boxes were a mixed bag with many tilted which made it difficult to find a level spot.
Fairways were good with very few dry spots but there were quite a few wet soggy areas. Some areas have been severely over watered.
The rough was thick enough to make it tough to find a ball and sometimes tough to get out.
The bunkers are a joke, both fairway and green-side. I was in two and my partners were in several more and none of them had sand! All very hard and some just packed down mud.
Greens were good with medium speed and they held shots well. Very few old ball marks to contend with.
The staff was professional including the ladies in the bar. Good selection of draft beers and very good food service.

You all know I like LS and play here alot, but was disappointed in the conditions of the south course today. Tee boxes were so hard you had issues getting the tee in, if you used wood tees I guaranteed you would have broken every one, the fairways were very wet, even ropped off in some spots, bunkers bad as usual, (I guess the secret is not to get in the bunkers LOL ) but the real disappointment was the greens, yes very soft and had many and large ball marks to fix, but putting the ball would bounced all over the pkace. It appeared that they watered the greens so much because of the heat that they were too soft to mow, you could actually see tire tracks on the greens and had to putt though them. Was not fun. Oh also they charge for the cart GPS now ( see my post) at least they had the fish taco special at lunch today, which was good

Played LS South early on 7/6/18. Based on today's experience and other reviews, there is not a lack of water on this course.....the greens were absolutely soaked. Of course, teeing off at 5:30 am, I was playing alongside the work crews.

Greens are fantastic - given the soaked condition. Smooth and nice coverage. Quick, but not fast. Fairways and rough are generally good, but there are some bare patches out there. Not really a surprise, this course covers a TON of acreage, and too keep everything plush is beyond realistic for this price range. Bunkers were nice - no issues there.

I'd have to say that Los Serranos would be a great home course. Fun course, challenging but not overly difficult. Affordable. Nice practice facilities (except for range mats), nice clubhouse, and 36 holes to choose from.
