Played Los Serranos South Blues on Friday Nov 4th, Had a 7:30 tee time, teed off right on time. I did not freak out this time when on the 1st tee my partners went to the Blue tee, It just meant that I had longer shots into the green and I parred the 1st hole, :o) , I shot 93 so I am happy with that from the Blues. POP was 4:10. I thought the course was very green and lush. No issues with the tee boxes and the fairways were very green, no brown spots, rough was not penal but did affect your shots. Greens held shots very well, I play the Srixon Soft Feel yellow ball first 3 holes and could not see the ball in the air, so I switched to the Volvik Vivid Orange which I could follow in the air. Even with the Vivid shots from 160 out were still within 3 feet of my landing spot on the greens and shots 135 out were within 12 inches. Always had a ball mark to fix. Greens rolled well. I have been putting better on the front 9 than the back 9 lately and it continued today, I think I am trying too hard. Was in a several green side bunkers and I thought the sand was thin but got out ok. Had the salad for lunch and it was very good, light and just enough to eat without pigging out. LOL... Service in the coffee shop is great, really nice waitresses.

played here on a weekday afternoon, place was pretty empty, which i love. teed off as a single and made it through 15 holes in 1h40m, got very backed up for last three, joined some others and finished about 2h30m. course was in surprisingly good condition, the times i've played here usually it is somewhat brownish, though always generally with decent coverage. today it was lush and green, with excellent fluffy lies in the fairways. teeboxes were in good condition, maybe because i played the whites. most people seemed to be playing from the blues, but 6749 yards seemed plenty for me. greens were very receptive and soft, and rolled well for the most part, apart from a few bumpy areas and mounds near the hole here and there. greenside kikuyu was generally mown down so it was not too difficult to get up and down. i was in two greenside bunkers and they had hard-ish but good sand. enjoyed the course, will be back soon.

Played in a customer sponsored tournament on Saturday at Los Serranos and was lucky enough to play the south course this time since I had played the north course the only other time I played here for Zeb's charity tournament.

Unfortunately it's hard to get a real feel for a course when playing a best ball scramble, so take the ratings here with a grain of salt. It's difficult to assess the POP when you know people are taking their time with booths and vendors at almost every hole!

But in terms of overall impressions, I think the south course is definitely more enjoyable than the north course. Conditions were pretty good all across the board, but nothing stood out as amazing. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were all in good shape - not great, but good. The rough was very playable albeit dried out pretty good in a lot of areas. The sand in the bunkers was pretty hard packed but there seemed to be ample in there.

I enjoyed the layout quite a bit, including a very cool 18th hole that is very challenging and fun. Five par 5s is definitely an interesting deviation from most courses. I'm pretty sure it's the only par 74 course I've ever played so far.

Facilities and the staff at Los Serranos have been great both times I've attended events there. One of these days I hope to just play a regular round there and actually keep my own proper score to see how I do. And when I do that, I'll be opting for the south course.

Played Los Seranos South on Friday Sept 9th at 7:38, I hope this is not going to be the norm but we had xerox sheets for score cards. I hope that the course just ran out of score cards and they are not trying to reduce expenses by going to these xerox sheets of paper, that are very thin and will not hold up if damp or wet. Was disappointed in that. Weather was a bit humid but it burned off for a nice day. The course was in real good shape. I found level spots on all the tee boxes. The fairways were green and had good lies, rough was not to penal. Greens rolled very good not many ball marks, found some were faster than others. I was in several bunkers and the sand was real good. Just finished putting on #10 and the guys were coming to #9 tee box and music all over the place, man that is annoying. Really need the marshals out there for sound control. They want to play music find, but turn it down.......... Had some promo guy on #17 offering all kinds of stuff for $20 if you get it on the green. We sat down for lunch and found out you had to send in $24.95 for processing and handling and then there was a $100 activation fee. The one guy in our group that did it felt ripped off. Glad I saved $20. The service for lunch was good as usual.

Played today at 10:00, $45 rate. I won't go into too much detail, as my review would mirror the most recent reviews. Good to great shape all around, great pace today as well at 4 hours. There were a couple more bumps on the greens than I expected though, but not enough to really complain about. Beware the poa blooms once you get past noon, you'll need to adjust your putting. Great time here as usual.

Check in easy and guys are nice and polite, range was grass and reasonable to get warmed up on.

POP was about 4.5 hours. a little slow but that seems common with EVERY dude playing the 7000+ blues.....what is up with the typical guy golfer? cracks me up. Probably the same guys that complain about POP.

Fairways - decent, quite a bit of thin lies and browned out drought created issues you see almost everywhere in SoCal.

bunkers - REALLY above average. Plenty of sand.

Rough - spotty at best.....inconsistent and patchy every hole

Greens - really nice....not too many ball marks to fix....rolled medium speed I suppose.

I had a nice time and would recommend the course for sure. Didn't suite up well for Tobi, just too long for her, so probably a 1 and done for Tobster on the South track.

I always enjoy playing both of the Los Serranos courses, the south being the better of the two. I like having 6 par 5 holes, because it affords a lot more birdie opportunities, but playing to a par 74, makes keeping the score in the 70's more of a challenge.

The course was in very nice overall condition. The greens rolled well and I found rolled out causing them to putt faster than they appeared. Only in 1 bunker, which was OK, not a lot of sand in the area I was in. Fairways had plenty of grass, although brown in spots.

Staff is accommodating, and friendly. This is just simply a well run facility, which offers a good product at a fair price.

I hate kikuyu. Played with my monthly Saturday club on a warm breezy day at 9AM, 8/6/16. We’ve been playing here this time of year for 30+ years. Course remains in similar shape to recent GK Plays – greens with good coverage, soft and receptive, medium speed. Fairways were green and cut close, generally giving good lies, with some thin areas. Rough was drier and coverage spottier. I was in both fairway and greenside traps and sand was good and adequate for play, although traps were not groomed and were not raked in many places. Tees were OK.

The shop had a small tourney starting on the back nine turning at Hole 1, so we started 15 minutes late. POP was Saturday normal just under 5 hours. “Ranger” drove by our group 3-4 times without acknowledgment or comment. Range on grass today. The course could use more water stations.

And, yes, I hate kikuyu.

It’s not like me to be this late on a review but better late than never.

First off once again wanted to thank everyone that came to the GK Plays Los Serranos CC. It was our first outing there and will certainly not be our last. I found this course from an organizer’s perspective strong. The staging area is perfect with range, practice putting green, large clubhouse, golf carts and first tee of both golf courses in close proximity of each other. Made it very easy to keep track of everyone. The Los Serranos staff was very supportive and the tournament director kept good communication with me from the moment I organized to the outing, during and following up. The golf course is a fair blend of challenge and interesting holes. Exactly what you want with players of mixed playing abilities. My only complaint was the lack of an on course beverage services that day (Thursday). The service from Mayra on the summit snack bar on the seventh hole was excellent but I found myself wanting a drink after that with little time to pick one up at the turn. Once completed the large clubhouse and good food from the restaurant wrapped up our outing perfectly. Cool and spacious for sure.

From a player's point of view I really enjoyed the course. I found the greens to be the highlight rolling mostly smooth, relatively quick, holding shots and at times challenging. The fairways were mostly lush. The rough was not really rough but rather the turf seemed to all be cut around fairway height. At time there were some areas of thicker turf but overall not very penalizing. The tee boxes, we played the blues, where in good shape, mostly level and not much divot damage. The bunkers a little firm but playable. The layout is what I enjoyed most about the course. Par 74 and definitely a grip-and-rip track. If you ball strike well you will score well. Nothing tricky about the course. Nice fluctuations with elevations and doglegs. Some fun risk-reward holes. I liked the strategic placement water hazards greenside on a few holes, #10 and #17 come to mind. I want to play here more often.
