Played in the GK Outing today with the infamous Stickboy, and two very nice gentleman named Jeff and Lee. The course was in very nice condition today fairways were green and lush while greens rolled very true. Lee and Jeff putted very well while myself and Vince weren't so fortunate..Just couldn't get the feel.. I also got to meet up with Johnny and Vic today, both are class acts, and very nice men, thanks again for everything. Overall, it was a very enjoyable afternoon the course was great, the playing partners were great, and if you haven't played in a GK event I highly recommend it.

Played in the GK Plays today and as usual it was a great time. Thanks Johnny for setting us up once again. Really good to see new and old faces alike. We were in the 3rd group and had an awesome time with Kevin, Tom, & David (thanks for taking on Jack's Blacks with me!). Course conditions were good to very good across the board. Fairways were probably the highlight with lush green grass covering them and very few blemishes that I saw. Tees were for the most part level with good coverage other than #6. Was in a couple of bunkers and they were easy to play from so no complaints from me. Rough was more of a gamble ranging from lush, patchy, clumpy, or just bare. Greens were medium pace and bumpy on several holes. Might have been the late afternoon Poa buds coming out to play. Course layout is so much fun with six par 5's! Didn't see the beverage cart out today and there were only a couple water fountains on the course but no coolers of any sort out there which would have been appreciated on a hot day like today. On the back 9 the wind really started blowing pretty good. I was able to launch a 333 yard 3-wood on #14 downwind but only able to hit driver about 225 on #15 playing back into it lol. Do yourself a favor and play Jack's blacks at least once in your life but only if you can handle it!

Played 6/11@ 06:15 from the white tees (6,743 yards/133/72.5). Let me begin by saying that the course is in really good shape and should be a great test for the GK Plays on 6/30. If your feeling froggy, the Jack's Black tees (7,628/137/76.8) are available, but not recommend for the faint at heart. Tee Boxes - Level with good coverage Fairways - Mostly green, and never had a bad lie (when in the fairway). Rough - Thicker in some area's, but still able to find your ball. If you do miss the fairway, most likely you will be in the trees and have to invent something to try to get to the green. Sand - Was in a couple of fairway bunkers that had plenty of sand and firm. Was also in a couple of greenside bunkers which had plenty of sand and were really nice to hit out of. Greens - As mentioned, we played in the early a.m. and with the greens were still wet, if you were above the hole, they were quick. I can only imagine what they would be like in the afternoon. There are not huge undulations, and almost look fairly flat. Be sure to take a good look from all angles. They were a little hard, but could stop a well struck shot. The carts have basic GPS including helpful hints (250 yards to lake front), which is nice. To walk the course is not super difficult in the fact that all but a couple of the holes are right next to each other. But the elevation changes make it more difficult (not as bad as Mountain Meadows). They have two practice putting greens (would be 3 but one was closed). Driving range that depending on the day either grass or mats, and a small chipping green. Course staff was really friendly and accommodating.

Played 2-25-16 first out walking as a single in 2 hours and 50 minutes using the birdie card for $24. Tee boxes are mostly in good shape and level, with the exception of #6 which is mostly sand. Fairways are in very good shape with great lies. Rough is cut almost the same height as fairways with some bare spots here and there. Bunkers have very nice sand, and nice to hit from. Greens are still healing from being punched, very bumpy and a little slow. Probably need another couple weeks to be completely healed. Will definitely be back when green are healed up.

Played 4-21-16. Forgot how long this course is. The greens are still bumpy and had sand still visible on the greens. Overall fairways and rough in very good condition.

Was supposed to play Goose this morning but it was super windy, so we moved over to the South Course instead. My buddy and I were lucky to get out at all since it was Presidents' Day. Teed off 15 minutes late, and wound up getting around in exactly 4.5 hours. It actually felt slower because we waited on many shots. The South is still in winter-mode with thin fairways and nonexistent rough. The greens were very fast and smooth too. They would be better if more people fixed their ballmarks. All four of the greenside bunkers I hit where filled with excellent sand and smooth. Tees were level, but quite thin. Hopefully the course greens up as we get closer to Spring.

I play LS regularly but have not given a review for the south. Played on 2/8 and it was pretty windy. Still playable though. Pace of play was slow about 5 hours. Noticed the holdup was a slow foursome a couple of holes ahead of us. I guess it only takes one group to slow the pace down eh? That’s really my only criticism of LS; slow play. Also, there are quite a few ducks and coots out there so you need to watch where you step. A lot of duck and coot poop.

The course is always been a tough track, largely because of its length. Fairways are winter thin. Greens however are in great shape. They hold real well and roll quick and true. Sand traps are in good shape. There really isn’t much rough. This is always a great place to play although it does play better in the spring and summer. Two real challenging courses. I bought the Express Players Card which offers some pretty good discounts both on play and food. Customer service from the guys in the club house is always excellent and the girls in the restaurant are equally as great.

While Los Serranos South is one of my favorite courses the current conditions make it difficult to pay the asking price. The sand traps are the bright spot, the fairways and approach areas are so thin... Continue »

While Los Serranos South is one of my favorite courses the current conditions make it difficult to pay the asking price. The sand traps are the bright spot, the fairways and approach areas are so thin it is difficult to play quality golf. As with most courses that have dormant type winter grasses this course is almost dirt in some areas making every shot unpredictable. If you enjoy playing this course wait until Spring when its playable. As always the customer service is outstanding.
