Played here on Tuesday, 7/29 with a buddy of mine as the first of two rounds for the day. Our tee time was 11:30 and despite the course being jammed due to a tournament on the Lakes course, we were paired with another twosome and teed off at 11:25. Pace of play was a very lackadaisical 4:30 as we walked off at 3:55 on the dot. It was a packed course but we were never backed up on any hole, so no complaints there.

I don't have much to add to the other reviews that have been written recently. Tees, fairways, rough are all great. Wind is tough, and you will need to club up on a few holes (especially 3, 14, and 18 like Gary mentioned). Sand was great for the two bunkers I was in, and the greens were in good shape though they seemed to be a bit slower than usual. I have played here twice, and not since two years ago, but I feel that this course was a lot easier and almost a little less enjoyable as a result of the greens being slower. It made holes 7, 9, and 12 play a lot more similarly than usual, but that could have just been a flukey thing. Regardless, those holes are fun and so is every other one on this course. Lastly, customer service was great, as always. Keep up the good work River Ridge and thanks for the great round.

Walked the Vineyard course this afternoon with a buddy. We were met with a 20 mph wind for most of the day. POP playing around 4 hours taking our time with nobody pushing. Kudos to the staff at the first tee on the Lakes course which we were set to play. They were honest with us stating that there was a tournament and 3 groups stacked up waiting on hole 3---we jetted over to the Vineyard course. This type of honesty and customer service was very appreciated. The greens here are healthy looking and it looks as if they just received some small slits in them. They produced small bounces on putts. Most of the kikuyu fairways here are green and lush with only a few burned out or dryed out spots---not to bad. The tees are also semi-lush kikuyu . Most all boxes are level. Was not in any sand bunkers but they looked raked and decent. The rough was not to bad or high lining the fairways. The have 2-3 really tough golf holes out here especially in the afternoon wind. #14 and #18 will test any player. Enjoyed clubbing up 3 clubs today on #3 and hitting the middle of the green(lol). We really enjoyed our round...prefer the Lakes course but this course is also fun to play.

Greens were very soft and did putt a little slow. Sand traps were a little hard and still wet, but that may be because we played very early in the day. POP was three and a half hours.
Customer service also very good.

I always enjoy playing any round at River Ridge. Outstanding facility and conditions for the price. Greens were a little soft and quite slow, but not too bad. The only complaint I have is their new foot golf (experiment?). They had groups of 5-6 going off behind us. Kids were screaming and yelling. I don't need complete silence when I play, but if you're going to let these kids on the course then I would hope they would have some sort of etiquette - at least when golfers are around...

Played River Ridge Vineyard Course Friday 5/2, tee time around 2:00 pm with JohnnyGK, rgm2525, and kviser on a Meet-Play. Weather was good, little wind and sunny about 85. Nice TW rate of $25(walking).
The POP was just under five hours. The staff was trying for a fast pace. The course condition were good and greens ran slower than the normal River Ridge's super fast speed(little bumpy). The driving range was on the grass. To finish up, I can't wait to play again. Great value.

Played yesterday with Mr. GK, Ron, and Lee. Great rate at $25 walking. It has been a while sjnce I have played this side. It is a fun layout. General course conditions were not as lush as they have been in the past, but still very playable with nice lies almost everywhere. Yesterday's pin placements seemed very challenging. I did notice the greens were not as fast as they have been in the past, probably due to the recent aerification and top dressing. There was a light layer of sand evident on the greens, which may have contributed to the slower speed and occasional light bumpiness. They were still a nice medium fast speed, and rolled true.

Being it was a Friday and the last 3 days were like a wind tunnel in Southern California, it was not surprising for me that the golf course was very busy. Typically pace of play at River Ridge hardly ever tops 4 ½ hours but yesterday we finished in almost 5 hours. Still, our group was having such a great time, I didn’t even notice. The course was in very good shape. Greens were slower and bumpier than I normally experience and it appeared to me the cause was mostly related to needing an extra cut and roll. They look healthy to me and were in overall good shape, just not the close to immaculate conditions I’m come to expect. The fairways were mostly lush with a few on the dry side. I had good lies pretty much all day. The rough…is cut very low and forgiving. The bunkers were in good shape, well raked and with good quality sand. The tee boxes (we played the white tees), with expectation to the 13th tee being considerably not level, were great to hit from, mostly lush, firm, good shape.

I’m a big fan of River Ridge’s layout and staff. Great customer service and the layout is challenging, walk-able and fun. A great 36 hole facility. What I think I’m even a bigger fan of is the costs to play…just $25 for TW and even less for STW. It is a ridiculously good value and always worth the time and money.

Starter and marshals were helpful and on point in regards to keeping POP.
This course more than any other I've played is attentive to POP throughout the day. If the winds pick up, or weather conditions change, they may move the tee boxes up on certain holes to keep play moving. While I didn't appreciate the comment that we should play the appropriate tees after I pull hooked my first drive, I suppose it was appropriate considering people still assume I'm just a kid out to take some divots and ruin everyone's round with poor etiquette. My scorecard speaks for itself, and POP is never an issue for those of us who are considerate of others and conscious of those around us, which everyone seemed to be today.
It was particularly windy today and the local I played with said it only gets worse. Luckily they are close enough to the ocean the course wasn't dried out because of it. Though not the longest, nor the most narrow this course requires your entire game to be on point. Errant drives will put you in bad position for your approach shots which are absolutely key when hitting into the many multi-teared greens this course has to offer.

Holes 14-18 almost feel like an entirely different course, with water in play and house lined holes. Once you tee off from the first hole you won't see the clubhouse again until you finish the 13th. With snack cart in site you better stock up before you head out. There are water jugs on the course, but I would appreciate a pretty girl with snacks and booze. Their food was surprisingly affordable, walking out with a hot dog, chips, Oreos, and a large fountain drink for under $8. Beware of the birds as you make your way onto 14. They will stalk your cart and take all your food if you blink twice.

Overall a pleasant experience. Can't wait to play it again.

Played on Thursday 5/1 with my friends son who was competing in a AJGA tournament that weekend. Have nothing but nice things to say about this course, excellent for the rate, conditions were very nice, the greens are spectacular. The only cons are that the fairways are very thin and very hard in some area, the half way house was closed and there was no beverage cart, which I don't mind so much but a warning from the pro shop or starter would have been nice. Also the lady in the pro shop seemed confused about the rates but she was very friendly and got it all straightened out. Great place, great value, everyone on staff very nice!
