Played in the GK event yesterday and had a great time. Thank you JohnnyGK for putting on another outstanding event!

From my perspective, the course was in very good shape. Greens were smooth and medium speed, fairways were beautiful and so is the rough. Tee boxes were nice. Bunkers were a little inconsistent but actually had lots of sand everywhere I was, even though one of them felt underfoot like it was hard packed and had very little sand. I hit my shot based on what my feet felt, and my feet were wrong. I left that one in the bunker.

Design-wise, I enjoyed this course but I preferred Celebrity for the layout and the aesthetics. This was my first time playing Players, although I had played IWGR East back in the day before they completely re-built the courses, and Players seemed to retain much of the same routing as the original layout. Both courses are excellent, though, and both very beautiful in spots.

I played yesterday in our year-end GK event and had a great time; thanks to Johnny and Indian Wells for another fine event. Great customer service from the valet up front to the cart shack in back. Nice course conditions with lush fairways and rough in a fantastic setting. It is a bit tight in places, so your shots need to be fairly accurate or you could find some trouble. The greens, while beautiful, were not as fast as I hoped for and definitely not as fast as the ones on the practice putting course in front of the clubhouse. I guess as the greens mature over the winter and things firm up it will be much faster. Overall, this is a great layout and I enjoyed it very much. I was in the first group and I thought our encounters with the marshal were fine. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was great; however, the buffet at the end of the round was not as tasty as last year. I'm not complaining, even though it sounds like it. Also, I would like to give a big thanks to kg1791 for providing many gifts to the community in the form of Bridgestone balls and a couple of big raffle prizes.

Tee boxes, fairways and rough very good. Greens were a little soft. Saw several greens with several divot marks and I was leaving divots which is very unusual for me. POP was right at 4:30. Staff was friendly. Sorry to hear about the first group having problems.

This is my first time at Indian Wells. So here go:

We pull up and zero parking anywhere, were forced to Valet the car. Attendant was courteous, took our bags and brought them down. By the time we make it to the check in by the putting green, the bags are on the cart. Customer service was excellent.

There is a 9 hole putting course, very fun/cool idea...and the greens are VERY SLOW imho. To me, I am used 10-11 on the stimp. These were maybe 5 or 6? Nevertheless, it was fun and challenging to get warmed up to the greens.

Get to the practice range next, plenty of balls...but no tee's. Had to walk back and grab tee's. There was no yardage signs for the flags, but a very small plaque about 10 yard into the driving range, if i walked up to read it, may get hit by others in the range. The grass was lush and the ground was firm, which is deal conditions for the range.

Now our time to head to the first hole. The martial gives us a few instructions and we are off.

Tee boxes: lush, level and in great condition.

Fairways: lush grass, never had a bad lie. They were perfectly manicured.

Rough: lush grass, never had a bad lie, but had some fliers. was not as penalizing as it looked. ball came out really well from the rough.

Bunkers: soft sand with hard wet under layer. Good thing i was only in 2 of them!

Greens: Brutally slow and tough to read. downhill put playing like it was uphill (read very slow). However they were very soft and receptive to full and partial shots into the greens. I am not a fan of the slow greens, but they are very lush and green! I did not see any bare spots at all.

Now the only complaint...the martial. He kept on telling us we were behind. Then he would say there is a group 3 hole ahead that was holding everyone up. WHAT? EXCUSE ME? There is no one holding us up and we are not holding anyone up. He came by 2 or 3 times and left a bad taste in my mouth with his "policing". I heard many others talking about this guy as well.

I will be back to play this course again. I liked the picturesque layout and the conditions were great!

Another great year-end GK event in the desert. Great times at Indian Wells and the course was in fantastic shape. Greens running a bit too slow right now, but everything else was lush and exceptional. The marshal nagging us was a bit annoying since there was a pretty big gap in front of us by the time we teed off as the first group, but oh well.

Love this course and the Indian Wells facility. Unlike acesfull, I actually prefer the Celebrity course more. Both are fantastic layouts with stunning scenery in every direction and such nicely "framed" holes visually with great aesthetic touches throughout. There's a reason this place is one of my favorites in the valley.

Played this afternoon in another flawlessly executed GK event. Wish my game today could have executed. Oh well. Good day anyway with friends. Course is nice, very different from the Celebrity, personally I preferred this side. Decent mix of holes, undulation and challenge. Tee boxes well manicured and level, fairways and rough very nice. Enjoyed the 2" or so fescue? rough. Easy to get through. Greens were well manicured but very much slower than practice greens. Sand was hit or miss, mostly miss. Decent sand in most traps, but heavy and wet underneath, some hard and dry. Not really want I would expect from Indian Wells going into season. Cart has cooler, ice, club cleaner and good GPS. Ours started to buck on 13 and severely by 16, had to get pushed off fairway at 18.
My one main complaint was that we teed off with a couple holes open in front of us. Then around 11 Marshall came by reprimanding us that we were a full 3 holes behind. Then came by a second time scolding us. We only saw the group behind us wait for us on maybe the 7th or 8th hole. THEN he goes and tells all our peers that the "first group", us, are a full 3 holes behind and holding everyone up. That was NOT the case. Then he told our friends in one of the middle groups to hit up on the group in front and start pushing them. WHY!? Also when he told us this I looked at the GPS and we were a whole whopping 4 minutes behind pace. Everyone else here was great. No reason for what he said to us and ESPECIALLY no reason to make comments about us to all the groups behind us when we weren't even holding anyone up. Nuff said.

conditions were nearly perfect considering the heat in palm springs area. customer service was top notch! state of the art GPS system, which was a bonus. tee boxes were level throughout. fairways were green and lush. can't remember if there was a bad spot. it was also undulating adding the uniqueness of this track. and of course, the views were very pleasant. roughs were 1-3" and not too much difficulty to get out from. traps were in good shape. aprons were nicely kept. greens were dried but can't blame the course for that. at least, they were green as green can be. pace was about medium, smooth and rolled very well. some of holes really test your skills as they are very challenging. no guts, no glory!!! it was humid and a slight breeze which really helped with the heat. beverage cart came by about 5 times, making sure we are well hydrated. most definitely will return some time in Sept and play Celebrity course

Played on Thursday, 6/12, with a 4pm tee time. Paid $36, with I believed was excellent. Customer service was outstanding. Dropped the bag at the front, and it was set up on the cart after check in. Check in was great. I had booked Celebrity for the afternoon round, but he saw Players was wide open and wanted me to finish, so he flipped my reservations. Starter handed me 2 glasses of ice water, and filled me in on the course. I played through 2 groups and finished in 2.5 hours. Conditions were fantastic. Tee boxes were level. Fairways were wide and lush, with no thin or dirt areas. Rough was about 1-2 inch. Sand was OK, not fluffy, but not thin or hard packed. Greens were pretty good, firm with little amount of unfixed ball marks. Medium speed and rolled true. I loved both courses. I found the Players course more open off the tee, with less amount of trouble around the greens. I will absolutely play here again.

Played Indian Wells Players course today 2/2. Course is in such great shape. Fairways, rough, and tee boxes could not be any more perfect. Greens were very nice, rolling medium fast, a couple ball marks here and there. Layout was beautiful and challenging. Pace of play was right around 4 hours.
