Was back in So Cal for the weekend and was able to get out to Glen Ivy on Saturday. Original tee time was 833 but a frost delay backed everything up by about 1.5 hours. Once we got going we found the course to be in typical winter condition. With the dry winter that meant the course was playing firm and fast. Tees- Fine enough with good coverage Fairways- Nothing great to look at but enough coverage and padding to hit from considering the time of year and lack of water. But beware that balls are running forever. Especially the downhill holes. #16 in particular, which always boosts the ego with it's severe downhill sloping fairway, was interesting to say the least today. Our entire group managed to find the fairway with our tee balls. All four ended up rolling down to the front of the green somewhere around 100-125 yards past where our shots originally landed. Rough- Mix of lush and dormant. Areas that did have good coverage were very manageable and in some instances provided better lies than the fairways. Bunkers- I was in 2. One was good and the other was thin. Enough said. Greens- Best part of the course both visually and in playability. Held shots well and rolled smoothly at a nice consistent med-fast speed. I've always loved the layout of this course. For the most part it's well kept but sad to see the lake on 16 completely bone dry and how much lower the remaining lakes have gotten but it's totally understandable with the lack of water. Cart girl was around several times and POP was 5 hours which obviously isn't great but with the morning frost delay, they were doing their best to play catch up all day.

8am tee time this morning. Check in and first tee were efficient and organized. Fairways and rough had good coverage for this time of the year, more than a couple tees were not level and a little on the long side. Traps had good sand and well groomed. Greens were smooth and on the firm side running at medium speed.
Really enjoy the layout of the course and POP was a little over four hours.

Played today with an 8:38 tee time. I knew there was a good Underpar deal avail but getting early tee time was the higher priority so we were willing to pay $65 senior rate to be able to reserve farther in advance. Check in was fast and the starter, Denis, was very friendly.

The fairways were in very nice shape. There was just a small amount of browning, lots of roll and we found no bad lies. The tee boxes were mostly level but a bit shaggy. I was in two bunkers, both of which had really good sand. It might have just been my imagination but it really smelled like ocean sand. The rough varied from as short as the fairways to deep patches that all but covered the ball. The greens were beautifully green with only an occasional ball mark. They were very soft, though, with footprints and spike marks causing lots of slow, bumpy rolls. The edges of the cups were in need of trimming too.

This is such a fun course with a good variety of holes and lots of beautiful scenery. Who doesn’t love the view from the 18th tee! POP was good at just a bit over 4 hrs. I managed a good score and no lost balls. All in all, a great day. Glen Ivy – highly recommended.

Love the course and surroundings here as do many others! The staff is very nice and very helpful. The round was a painful five plus hour journey today. The course is in very good shape from tee to green. The tee boxes are all level with great coverage and well trimmed. The fairway for the most part are cut very short and provide good roll out if you hit them. I don't remember having a bad lie during the round. The rough was pretty thick making it somewhat difficult to locate off line shots. The traps were very well groomed and maintained from fairway to green side. The greens themselves were all in really good shape with the exception of the first par three on the front nine. The greens were all very receptive to well struck shots and rolled medium to medium plus speed. There were a couple of greens that were somewhat slower than others but not a factor. We did note that all of the greens were a little bumpy. I found very few ball marks on all of the greens - Nice!! I was disappointed to see the ponds on 17 & 18 dry. Our playing partners said the ponds were drained for repair and were to be refilled. The views from the back nine are great of the surrounding valley with a peek of Dos Lagos in the distance. I definitely recommend a round here if you can get out!!

9/11 early am rain leaving us with a delightfully humid round as the sun soon replaced the clouds and no refreshing breeze to make it better--still a great setting. Paired with a friendly but quite slow 2some for a nearly 4 1/2 round.
Course is preparing for maintenance. Fairways are getting plenty of water and are lush and healthy but littered with clippings not really affecting play just unsightly. Rough is fairly thick slowing the ball but playable. Tees ok. Sand is deep and heavy for the most part requiring better execution than I was able to perform.
Greens are very soft a little bumpy getting plenty of water before punching(9/18). # 5 has some serious issues with bare spots and damage.
Course should come out of maintenance in superb shape--looking forward to mid October.

9/8 pleasantly warm light breeze 3 3/4 POP--Fairways lush and rather long well watered and soft--rough about 2 inches and juicy. From observation bunkers looked to have good sand--especially the problem ones from the past appeared to have been filled with quality sand.
Greens were much slower than usual and quite soft as they are preparing to aerate 9/18.

Played Glen Ivy yesterday at 2pm. Course was in nice shape. A couple of the lakes, on hole 1 and hole 17, were still drained and empty of water while the lakes with water in them were very brown looking and dirty. I've always liked the layout here with both nines starting with an easy downhill par 5. Fairways were in good shape, mostly green with a little browning out but not bad at all. Rough was hit and miss, some thick stuff around the greens but mostly thin around the fairway edges. Was only in one bunker but it had great sand, the rest of the group seemed to find luck in the bunkers as well. Greens looked very nice. Extremely receptive but rolled smooth and medium-fast. A couple random greens such as number 4 had some ball mark damage and bumps but for the most part greens were very nice. Had a deal where it was 25 bucks after 2, definitely worth it. POP was great.

I wish I got out and played here more. The course is a tiny bit rough (compared to its usual great) around the edges but, for really good reason.

I wish I got out and played here more. The course is a tiny bit rough (compared to its usual great) around the edges but, for really good reason.

They are bringing the water back! Construction is going on ALL of the water holes to return the water features to the course.

There was equipment on every hole getting its water back, but, it was tucked away and not in use for weekend play.

Greens were a tiny bit bumpy on a few holes and the tee boxes shaggier that I am used to, but, they will be the first to admit the changes are wearing the maintenance staff thin.

You can tell they are putting some love into the course. I will gladly accept temporary bumps on some greens here and there and some tee box fluffiness for now.

Also, the staff continues to be really really nice. It's been quite enjoyable on many levels playing here the last few years and it sounds like it will be getting even better!
