11/18 guru outing with right at 4hr POP with limited waiting on the last few holes. Course is in overall good shape benefitting from the 5 week closure for maintainence. Fairways have good cover and cushion being soft and somewhat damp so not much roll amd with the softness there were a lot of divots created but on the first few holes most had been filled. However as the round progressed the filled divots rose to about 50% and sometimes more inside the cart signs.
Rough was not that long but would definitelu stop forward roll and being very healthy and in places juicy and grabby making some recovery shots a challenge.
Tees are in good shape. Bu nkers are stunning in appearance being filled with a bright white mediium fine grained sand that contrasts well with the deep green fairways. All bunkers have the same sand so those in the fairway are a little soft and make for difficult shots. Green side ones are more playable for the typical sand shot. The fronthttp://blog.greenskeeper.org/ bunker on 13 looks to have some thin areas as the under lying dirt is somewhat visible and the divot left after the shot leace it exposed.
Green complexes are on the larger side and have areas for very challenging pin placements but today they were more accessible overall. Greens are healthy and consistent and even being somewhat softer and receptive they rolled out nicely on chips and pitches. Speed generally medium fast and rolling well. Greens have some subtle reaks and there is enough undulation to require atention and focus.
DR with mats but good cushion. Large putting green and separate green for chipping. Basic cart no GPS. Friendy staff easy check in.
Good layout with interesting variety.

It’s been an interesting year for Goose Creek Golf Club as far as playing conditions as you can read in the reviews. In the past the golf course has closed for about a week for Fall overseeding and aeration but this year it closed for a month. The golf course reopened on November 2nd and wow did Goose Creek make some fantastic improvements to their playing conditions. The greens are all once again healthy. Still some slight signs of aeration holes and a little bumpy in places but they are rolling well and will only to get better as they firm up. Through the green the golf course is entirely green and lush with beautiful contrasting turf. But the most visually striking improvement are the bunkers which have brand new bleach white sand. There are a few bunkers out there that don’t have the new sand YET only because they had to order more and it’s estimated those bunkers will be completed within the month. Take a look at the photos I just posted. Even on hazy day the place looked and played spectacular.

Besides the playing conditions, I’m not sure exactly when the golf course installed the new state of the art artificial driving range turf hitting surface, but it was awesome. Felt fantastic off the club face. As close to hitting off real grass as I’m experienced. The majority of the range if STILL a grass surface to hit off but what a great idea to be able to utilize an alternative surface when needed to better maintain the grass surface.

This is a wonderful layout where all skill levels can play and even walk if desired. An easy bogey but tough par as some would say.

Excellent service provided today with a fast 4 hour pace of play.

Had an enjoyable GK Guru round today with wonderful playing partners, decent weather, and a course that is in great shape coming out of overseeding. Teed off about 12:15 finishing in 4 hours. The greens rolled with medium/fast speed, held shots, and were mostly smooth. The greens are still a little on the soft side so chips checked up quick and putts had a little bump here and there but overall great condition. The fairways had great coverage and were mostly lush. The rough had mostly good coverage with a few thin spots. The length was enough to affect shots but not too penal. The bunkers have new white soft sand. The tee boxes are fairly flat with mostly good coverage. Always love playing Goose Creek. Especially with fellow GKers. The staff is always friendly.

Played on Tuesday Nov. 16 with fellow GK'r sr129. We tee'd off right on time and had a great 4:10 pace, just waiting on a few shots. The course has come out of being closed for a month great. Goose is always a pleasure to play and the senior rate makes it even that much better.

Tees - great shape, the grass might have been a touch long, but mowers were out so they are probably even better now.
Fairways - very nice. never a bad lie all day with very little divot damage.
Rough - great shape and still very playable.
Greens - Other than a little damage on hole 11 they were great to putt on. Didn't break as much as they looked which caused our group to burn the edges all day long.
Bunkers - Have brand new white sand in them and is one of the first things you notice when you first see the course. The sand is very fluffy, but many foot prints from people not raking them. d%mn it people pick up a rake and use it. Lets keep this course up and in great shape for everybody.

Overall I had a blast out there and will be back very soon.

Played on Nov 5th (Cart Path Only). Course is almost fully recovered from the major fall maintenance as we are accustomed to at THE GOOSE ! So great to return to this lovely track. Greens are running quick and very smooth, fairways are waiting for the grass to be able to accept the tight mowing. Tee Boxes are still a bit hairy but nothing to impede your swing. Rough is long and thick as might be expected. The Bunkers ! full of fine white sand (Please stay away you devil winds). I think the course will be back to awesome conditions in another week or two. I took two photos and will post them. You need to reward yourself with a future round at Goose Creek.

Played for my birthday on Monday 9-20-21. Had an afternoon tee time of 12:20. Thought on a Monday afternoon things would be mellow and smooth. Not so. We had to wait on almost every tee while the group ahead teed off. Then of course wait till they hit their approach shots to tree off. Very frustrating.
Bunkers in good shape as were the tee boxes. Fairways and greens were not looking so good. We spoke with a marshal and he said they had borrowed a small bore puncher from another course and it had apparently brought a virus with it. Many dead patches in the fairways as well as the greens. He said they are pretty sure by the middle of October everything will be back to normal. Lets hope so!

Played September 10 on a rather hot day. Went out with some friends and had a lovely time.

Played September 10 on a rather hot day. Went out with some friends and had a lovely time.

Tee boxes were quite good. All level and very few divots.

Fairways were okay. Some dry spots, but mostly green and lush. They were doing a good job repairing some areas.

Rough was not particularly brutal, but certain areas were easy to lose balls in.

Sand was very good. Fluffy and pretty nice to play from.

Greens were very nice. Very few pitch marks. Smooth and rolling medium speed.

Staff was great. Starter was a really decent gentleman who was cracking jokes. Marshall came by a few times to keep everyone on pace and was very nice about doing so.

I will definitely be returning to play here again!

Played Goose Creek this morning with Stickboy(Vince) and 2 nice guys Ron & Chuck who were a few years older than us. We all choose the green tees (III)and off we went. Was a little warm but there was nice breeze. Tee boxes and fairways were outstanding no bad or uneven lies. Greens were another problem. There were many burnt spots on most of the greens and it only affected putts that were not close to the pin. Anything within the confines of the brown areas were fine and did not affect putting. I believe there was sign at check in saying something but I didn’t really pay attention. Sand in bunkers were a little hard but I shouldn’t have put it there in the first place. Pop was around 4hours 30 minutes and we could have played much faster however our 2 others playing partners probably should have moved up a tee box because they were taking forever which of course brought the Marshall by several times and it just made it uncomfortable when you are being looked at by the “man”. Nonetheless, a good time was had by all. I would wait to play the Goose until they clear up the issue on the greens which I believe they are going to start on it Friday.

Played Tues 8/17 10 am. Arrived early and took advantage of the practice facilities, chipping, putting, bunker. We went out on time, POP was 4hr15min, a couple slower groups ahead but they were moving OK, no big lags between the groups.

The course - It's not in the pristine condition from past experience. Tee boxes were OK with some unevenness, fairways were still in some for of dormancy, couple bunkers I was in did not have sand, greens were a disappointment. The greens still suffering from some form of fungus/grubs/???. Some were bumpy, uneven rolls, did not hold true.

There are a lot of GIR with resod of grass around greens and some fairway spots. Will take some time for it to take hold.

As always the staff was friendly, good customer care, and helpful about course conditions.
