Course in very nice late Spring condition. Course playing firm and fast. Tees and Fairways very well maintained, lush with few unfixed divots. Few brown spots here and there beginning to show. Traps always well maintained here, but have more rocks than I remember from prior years. Greens are firm and medium fast with few ball marks. You have to play for roll out on these greens. Practice facitilies excellent. 2 putting greens, 2 practice chippings greens with sand traps. Only complain would be that often the range is set us to limit shots based on a 235 maximum distance, which prohibits Drivers for some players. Decent restaurant for a golf course. Customer service in the Pro shop and with the outside staff has been excellent this golf season. Layout is very spread out, so you rarely see a walker. Nice carts with very good GPS. Highly recommended.

Course is in excellent condition for early May. Bermuda coming out well. Layout plays firm and fast this time of year. Combination of that and the 2200' elevation makes for some long shots. Tees and Fairways lush and very well maintained. Rough is patchy hit and miss, mixture of many grasses, kept low and very playable. This is the time of year they lower it, which does not keep offline shots on the course but it is easier to play out of if the ball actually stops in it. Sand traps well maintained, but has more rocks than I remember previously. Greens are firm and you have to play for roll out. This is my favorite time of the year to putt on these greens. They are firm and quick, but not ridiculously quick. You just need to know which holes not to miss above the hole. Excellent carts/GPS, fine customer service. Highly recommended.

Major problem with greens which were created 3-4 weeks ago. Something went wrong with their process and the greens are in horrible, almost unplayable condition. I have played the course for years and never seen anything like this. Lots of sand and bumps on the greens. Not going to resolve itself anytime soon. Course should be offering discounted fees but they are not. Red not Green should be used to describe green conditions as of today May 3

Played this morning, teeing off about2 10:00 am. They evidently aerated the greens recently, I am guessing two weeks ago. The greens had evident remnants of the holes and were bumpy. They were also pretty fast, not always the best combination. The course is playable now and will be even better in a couple of weeks.

I was told there had been improvements including some new sand traps. The course was lusher than the last time I played. The cart told me that the 16th green recently opened. There were faint lines where I could see turf had been added in strips. It had not been aerated. It looked nice and rolled well. The course still has numerous different kinds of grasses and is s little rough around the edges. Overall, though, it is in good condition. Amazingly enough, we played in about2 4:10 after making the turn almost exactly 2 hours after we started. Much improved pace of play for the past.

Just want to give everyone heads up. Played the course on 05/02. All the greens are in terrible sandy condition, there are almost no grass on greens. Don’t think this issue will be resolved anytime soon.

Played 9 holes on Course 3 (the shortie) on a gorgeous golf day in the afternoon on Friday, 5/1/26. Course came out of aeration of greens just last week, and the difference from normal conditions is evident. Greens are still showing aeration holes/sanded areas in scattered parts of some greens. Greens are softer than normal, holding/slowing pitch shots, and are rolling slower than usual – on longer putts, it’s easy to leave a lot and risk the dreaded 3-jack. Rest of the course is in very good condition. I wasn’t in any traps, but no complaints from playing partners.

Course was busy and is frequented by the older members here. POP today seemed slow with a lot of waiting, but we finished in just over 2 hours.

Played here yesterday in the PM as prices on Friday are higher than M-Th. Was charged $140 and I will say I don't think the course is worth what they are charging. More on this later in the post.

Course is on the Cache Creek Casino property in Brooks CA. And as the old saying goes "in the middle of no where". If you do plan on playing here be aware the road going in goes through Esparto and Capay 2 small towns. And heavily patrolled to catch speeders. And then winds through a beautiful valley but road in is only two lanes and very winding.

For those who know the area the course is located N of Vacaville (25 miles) along
I 80 E and N on I 505 towards Woodland and state Hwy 16 W to Brooks.

This would not be a course to do an in/out day of golf unless you lived within say a 50 mile or less distance. IMO a stay and play booking would be much better.

Once at the Casino course is about a mile back behind the Casino and just follow the signs.

Great drop off area for clubs. Right in front of the pro shop. Go to parking which is small IMO and walk back to the pro shop to check in. You can take a cart back to the car to get your clubs.

Nice pro shop well stocked. And a very nice restaurant with outside seating overlooking the 18th hole. Carts are very nice and comfortable with GPS and stocked with water. And you can get more water at the refrigerators located on the course at the restrooms.

Driving range is just below the 1st hole and balls are included with the round. Putting green at the first hole with a magnificent view of the entire course.

Black 7222, Gold 6777, W 6310, Sr 5811, Red 5313.

Other than the first tee which is high up on a hill, the rest of the course winds through a beautiful valley surrounded with high hills and vineyards. Plenty of OB areas, environmental areas and water to deal with on the course.

Course conditions were excellent, as one would expect.

Tee boxes all level and clean. Fairways wide and lush. Great lies all round but roll out was not consistent. Plenty of traps but all with good sand and playable. Rough is 1 inch and ball sinks down and hard to advance.

Greens were all in good shape. But they were not all putting the same speed. So chipping/putting was not consistent the whole round. And I was surprised to find that most of them, while fairly large, were for the most part very flat with little to no undulations. Some had high spots and low areas but that was about2 it.

The course is managed by Troon and the staff on the course does a great job in keeping the flow going. As many know a resort course like this brings out a lot of slow players but we actually played in exactly 4 hours so kudos to the marshals.

I would say that the prices they charge to play here seem to be IMO too high. That is really my only knock on the course. I don't feel this course is any better than Chardonnay or Eagle Vines in Napa, or even my course Rancho Solano. Or LaPurisima and Classic Club. And these courses charge more than 50 to 75% less than Yocha DeHe. And even some of the best courses in S CA are not this high.

And I know many GK players like to play early AM vs in the PM and that is the time when the prices are their highest.

And the location of this course is not going to be fun to play when the weather gets warmer. Especially in the afternoon.

In parting. Well I played it and enjoyed it but it will be a long time before I go back. I think a once and done for this well traveled golfer is plenty IMO and its now off my list of places I wanted to play.

If you have a chance to play or want to play it I hope I did not discourage you from doing that. It is an enjoyable golf course if you can get past the price.

Played 4-29-26 early morning walking as a single, finished in a little over 3 hours enjoying the peaceful surroundings and wildlife. Tee boxes were in good shape, level with good coverage and minimal divot damage on par threes. Fairways were in great shape, lush and green with great lies and decent rollout with the thin areas on 1 and 10 starting to fill in. Rough was in great condition, 1-2 inches and very lush. Was not in any bunkers but they looked to be well groomed with nice white sand. Greens are in really good condition right now, playing semi-soft and rolling true and smooth at a medium pace. Overall really good conditions and worth a trip to play.

Absolutely will not return. Greens did not come out of aerification in any type of shape. I’ve seen cobble stone roads smoother than these. Bunkers with zero sand, so if you did happen to get in one it was a hope for the best with your bunker shot. Just a shame after being charged $85.00. Zero value!

Played Navy Destroyer on 4/29. Conditions are good all around. Greens almost completely recovered from aeration, certainly playable now, and should be really good in a week or two. No issues with conditions at all.

Has to be the flattest course in SoCal. Still, the layout is good, and it is a fun track. Lots of players not in a hurry, POP 5:15.

4/28/26 Tuesday morning 10:32am. 2nd round here in the last 6 months. My decision to play here was influenced by a $31 offer for a single on the website! POP 4:30, we were the only 4 sum I could see ahead or behind, letting a single and 2 different pairs go thru, not much player pressure on Tuesday I guess. If you haven't been here before you will be impressed by the view from the Pro shop area looking out at the 1st&10th tee/fairways! Every staff member you encounter is seemingly glad you have chosen to spend your money and time here. You will find a small chipping green and very, very small putting green very convenient. Covered driving range, matts, basically a dirt range with flag targets. Best to drive the cart over there. Hilly ,slope type arrangement with small beautifully maintained greens. Short yardage course fits with the green sizes I'm guessing. Sand traps? I couldn't find any. Near the greens many bunkers now grass. If you are a long hitter off the tee beware! Many par 4's have small drainage seeps/creeks right around where the ball should run out! Frustrating indeed, I'll play smarter next time. Typical muni fairway conditions beeing lush to thin, tee boxes better than average, rough challenging tree lines mature not forgiving. Carts no GPS good yardage markers though. I like this place as she is tight and forces you to be strategic. Cresta Verde is certianly in the course rotation for me.
