I hadn't golfed at this course in 4 years and last time I did it was nice. Golfed there today 5/22/10 and it was terrible! The tee boxes look they have tracked with the tractor. The greens where hard as concrete and when landed on it shot off like you had landed on a basketball court. The fairways where thin and hard and very brown. The price was $40 per person which was way too high. The only plus was that the pace was fast with only about ten people on the course, probably due to the terrible condition of the course. It will fours years if ever before I return to play there.

Played on a weekday morning. Hardly a soul around. Course is in decent shape—think of a well maintained muni except for the greens. In order of precedence, they were:

1. splotchy
2. firm, but
3. slow, and
4. not so true.

The first green was unswept; it was covered in debris from a nearby tree. I don’t know anything about greenskeeping, but they seemed to be on the bad end of some maintenance cycle all except for the 18th green. It was actually in good condition as though it was on the good end of a maintenance cycle.

The fairways were in good condition. Though not pretty, they were lush enough with not a lot in the way of damage or bare spots. The rough was inconsistent. The course winds its way through an older housing tract and there was little consideration given to the design of the interstitial spaces between the houses and the course. It’s an unfortunate combination of letting whatever grow wild and bare dirt. That is to say if you hit into those areas, it’s easy to lose your ball. A word of advice: don’t hit into those areas. When the rough was maintained it was a punishing 1” to 3”.

The sand was quite fluffy. Unfortunately, in the morning it was wet and fluffy, and, further, I found myself in it too many times. The course for the most part is pretty straight forward. There are several doglegs but you probably won’t be that befuddled.

I foolhardily played the black tees, which measure 7,137 yards. Fortunately I was driving the ball very well, but, that being said, I would not recommend playing those tees unless you have a degree of skill in working the ball. On the several tees where it does make a difference playing the black tees, those tee boxes are set off and back from the blue and white tee boxes at an angle. This will require a shot that is not only long but accurately hit--at least once I had to split a couple of trees to get into the fairway. And then just killing it straight will probably leave you hitting through the fairway into some wild and wooly stuff. I was either hitting it straight or hitting a power fade and a number of good drives, though reasonably controlled, ended up in a bit of trouble. The classic long draw will serve you quite well.

The service was okay. $28 with a cart on weekdays and a $15 dollar replay. The facilities are bare, however. Also, I encountered a couple of harrowing cart crossings. The course winds through a housing development and there are a few street crossings. A couple of them were not your garden variety, exclusive, secluded, sedate residential streets. One of them was Murrieta Road and the other was (I believe) Sun City Blvd, both major streets. Special lights were required for those crossings, and even when given the green/walk signal, I didn’t feel completely safe.

Fairways in great condition. Greens are hard and the secret seems to be play the front edge on the approach. Hard to make ball marks. They roll nicely even if the grass looks a little thin. Sand is thin and compacted. Nice course to just walk on during the week. Not crowded at all.

I obviously played a different course than willieb from Murrieta. Considering how bad this course was 6 months ago, you wouldn't know it now. We played on Sat with a $40 internet fee with balls. Very friendly staff. Greens have the bermuda waking up and filling in nicely. no more three types of grass. Balls roll smoothly. Not a whole lot of ball marks. Fairways had definite cuts, but no intermediate cut of rough. Miss the fairway and you pay. Tee boxes cut and level, good sand in bunkers but packed. It may not be a $50 trek, but with specials, it's a good bargain.

Totally mis-managed course. No starter, foursomes pushing other groups. Lawn maintenance continually running mowers even while at tee box. Rough is nothing more than overgrown weeds. They have been trying for years to get the greens growing properly.....they all have washboard greens. Prices increase 4/1, not worth the cost.

Had a member come up to me on the putting/chipping green and explain that "this green is for members only"......You have got to be kidding me. I guess my first thought was that I can't beleive anyone would pay to be a member here.....Not worth even a discounted green fee.

Grounds crew has no respect for golfers, runs mower alongside tee box and on one occassion actually cruised over my ball. It's worth the $25 to play, but don't expect excellance.

4 different tee boxes; this course is for all handicap levels. fairways are in good shape. the greens are coming back. grass practice tees and golf carts are well maintained.

Greens were in the second worse shape I've seen them in the last year. Mostly dirt with green streaks. The only nice thing to say is about the traps. Nice deep sand, but then the rakes were mostly just half a rake. Had to call for a marshall on number 2 as the group in front were on the way to a six hour round and there was nobody in front of them. Wouldn't even wave us up. The locals say this happens all the time. Thought this course was on the comeback, but it's still trying to make the turn.
