Played today before the rains come.

Course is really not shaping up very quickly. In fact they were laying sand in the fairways today which seemed odd given the rain that is expected? And fairways looked punched and that seems strange as they just did them last month.

Pehaps the soil here is not that good and it needs a lot more TLC before we see improved conditions?

So with poor fairways we still have less than improved greens. They are not mowing them close and thus you get slowww greens all 18. And this was a course that always had good firm fast greens in the past.

Tee boxes were all playable.

They have not finished re sanding all the bunkers but the ones they have done are very nice and very playable in comparison to the old ones.

Still good customer service but better course conditions would be even better.

Hopefully my trip to CO Thanksgiving week will allow me some golf on some better courses.

Clubhouse is so much nicer than the old one for sure.

Course condition was pristine tee to green. I mean perfect.

Greens were laser fast, for sure took some time to adjust plus with some of the pin placements like on hole 9 made it really challenging.

The back 9 is a different animal, much more difficult IMO.

Grinded through the round with a decent score but for sure got my ticket punched a couple of times.

If you get the opportunity to play this course I would for sure suggest it.

Played on Wednesday, November 12, before 7:00 am. The course was crowded but we still managed to get around in just over 4 hours. There was a marshal out early which was appreciated. No cart service and the on course snack stand was not open.

The course was in great shape. The rough was cut down in most places but it was fairly lush anyway. The fairways were very nice although there were some bare spots. A few of the tee boxes were not in level areas but they were generally good (#18 not so much). The greens were outstanding. Fast and smooth, they were a joy to putt on. The front right pin position on #1 was devilish considering the speed.

I always like coming to ElDo but it is especially nice with the conditions so good. I used to play here regularly and was able to say hi to one of the regulars from 20 years ago. If I were a Long Beach resident I would be out here all the time also. Recommended.

The photos and ratings don’t lie; Western Hills CC was in outstanding shape Monday 11-10-2025. This was my fifth event here…and like a broken record…again it just keeps getting better and better.

From a golf event organizer perspective, Western Hills CC is ideal. Great conditions, challenging engaging layout, (driving range, practice putting, practice sand/chipping, restaurant, clubhouse, golf cart staging area) ALL located near each other making it super easy to keep track of your players. Their Staff does super job from the moment you book until your event is completed. I’ve already lined up two events for 2026.

11/11/25 Veterans Day. Indian Hills web site did NOT post that a event was to happen! Golf Now log in either! Bookings were open for the morning so we drove out from Orange county to wait for a spot, Pro shop was not aware the event was not pre posted! Got a "Sorry". Could have at least offered a discount for another day? I normally practice over at Jurupa Hills only 10 minutes away so we called ahead and Ken put us on a short waiting list, bam, we were off in a half hour! Someone's not doing their job over at Indian Hills, and needs a refresher on hospitality. Just saying!

Course 3 again on a beautiful, pleasant day. Time change has pushed everyone to start earlier, and the Club Championship was finishing up so many fivesomes packed across courses 1 and 2.

Conditions are similar to previous reviews. However, several greens on course 3 had scattered bare spots. Greens are pretty firm and quick despite the recent aerification in late September – beware the downhill putt or the extended rollout. Tees look like they’ve recently been thatched or whatever – many areas of ruffled grasses. The short par-3 4th had a hitting mat set up to one side for all tees as the main teebox was being worked on. Fairways and rough are pretty short and tight – both have many/scattered thin/bare spots that make for tight/difficult lies. Traps continue to be very firm with only a very shallow surface layer.

Generally, always a good pace and amenable to a relaxed play.

Played in my first GK outing 7-10-25 here at Western Hills Country Club. Course was in great shape from tee to green. Greens were a little fuzzy/bumpy but a well struck putt would drop. Tough course to score well on and hole number 1 is definitely not a hole that other courses should mimic especially with that diabolical pin placement , but I digress. Friendly staff and well run outing for sure. The Arabian Prince from NWA was in our group today. d%mn , that guy is a stick and was really fun to share a round of golf with.

Played today in the Golf Moose/Vivid/GK outing at Western Hills Country Club. Nice facility in the Chino Hills area of Carbon Canyon. Had a breakfast burrito in the bar before the round and it was very good. Friendly staff and well run event. The pace of play was okay at 4:45 considering how long shot gun starts usually take. My group played the white tees, listed at 6400 yards and a 128 slope.

The course has quite a few elevation changes. Interesting layout and tricky figuring out the right club on a first visit. The 13th hole is being redone and was closed. They converted the par 5 15th into a short (255 years today) par four 15A and a long par three (200 yards) 15B. Interesting that what I can only assume is a temporary par 4 green for 15A was a nice green that rolled identical to the other greens on the course. Very nice!

The course was in great condition. Beautiful fairways, lush rough and nice tees. Really lush conditions throughout. The greens looked like they were recovering from aeration sometime in the past but they rolled well at a fast speed. There were some wobbles but overall the ball, for good or ill, went where you sent it. It would take a couple of rounds to figure out the greens; there were some difficult reads. Both 1 and 10 had front pin positions which were border line unfair but otherwise they were tough but fair.

I liked the course a lot. It exceeded my expectations in terms of concourse conditions and there were no issues with regard to services or facilities. It is definitely a course I would like to play again.

The course is in pretty rough shape right now. Can't endorse, especially at $116 to walk!! Pretty ridiculous.

Tees were deplorable!! green painted dirt with seed mixed in. Complete joke.

Fairways continue to be a mess!!! We played it down, but highly recommend lift clean and place. You will for sure have some poor lies right in the middle of the fairways.

Rough was slightly higher than the fairways and had spotty coverage. Not a big deal.

Bunkers were ok. Most had nice fluffy new sand and others had some wet compacted sand. Probably the best part of the course, which is sad.

Greens were not that bad. They held shots well, but were pretty bumpy with medium to fast speed.

Customer service was ok, no frills. No beverage cart but not a big deal I bring my own.

Not recommended at this time. It's a questionable layout to begin with and with these current conditions it's not worthy. I will stay away for the foreseeable future.

Played a Friday round at Rec Park this past week after getting an 11:20 tee time for myself and two friends with a $75 rate (cart included). Two of us didn't walk but they could not adjust the pricing so that was a bummer, but I was hoping the rest of the course would justify the midweek cost.

And while the course actually held up to scrutiny and was playing a lot better than I expected it to, the POP was a total disaster at just under six hours and we had to rely on the maintenance gal in a cart to push the very slow group in front of us (who at times were well over a hole behind) because no marshal was anywhere to be found. And of course no cart service either (at least not that ever showed up with our group).

But as previously stated, course conditions are actually not bad at all. The greens were in pretty darn good shape all things considered, while the fairways had mostly good coverage and the bunkers had enough sand in them to look quite playable. The rough was manageable and while there were a fair share of dry or 'problem' areas, overall playability was not near as poor as I was anticipating.

I'm sure I'm not in the minority here thinking that Rec Park is and will remain the least desirable of the four main Long Beach courses, but it held its own this particular week in terms of course playability, however the other factors will certainly put a big knock on its rating and overall value.

First time playing at Tijeras, 9:30am tee time. Unfortunately during booking I was notified of course overseed/aeration and CPO conditions from 10/31-11/15, so I didn't have the highest of expectations.

Check in was smooth, nice guys behind the counter. Starter was nice as well, young guy, helped me figure out where everything was. Pretty nice driving range with top tracer technology. Putting and chipping area next to it. All my interactions with the staff was positive so that was a plus.

Now onto the course....I'm sure when this course is in top shape and peak season it's worth the price tag, but right now I can't recommend playing here.

All the fairways were shaggy and wet, and even when I hit fairways I still had some trouble finding my ball as the fairway was basically the rough. Had to play lift/clean/place because of the mud balls mainly on the front. The greens are a week or two away from perfection but were also rolling slower and were overall shaggy. The course layout was pretty fun especially the back nine, had a good mixture of hazards to be mindful of. I only had one bunker shot today (thank god lol) and the sand was nice and fluffy so seemed like it was consistent with all the bunkers just from looking at them. Saw the cart girl about 5 times throughout the round which was nice, also lots of holes had water stations which was perfect for a warm 85 degree day. Pace was kind of slow at 5 hrs and had to wait 2-5min on several holes but otherwise was flowing okay.

It sucks they are still charging $100+ for these types of conditions honestly but understandable given the location and the demographics it serves. So my two cents is avoid this course until end of November or start of December. I'll definitely be back then!

Sand in the bunkers was inconsistent. There were footprints from the day before as they "softened" from a light overnight rain. Some fws were typical muni conditi9ns, which was shocking considering the price point.

The first 6 holes and final 4 are on the west side of 30. Lots of resort traffic and shopping district congestion, so not exactly the relaxing Hawaiian golf experinece aroumd that part of the course. No real stand out holes, however, 18 is one of the toughest finishers I've ever played.

Overall, the course and facility looks and feels tired. For the exact same price point, Wailea is a far better overall experience. I can't recommend the Royal as it does not reflect value for money for what you get.
