Early out early finish. 2.5 H. Had time to spend with family enjoying the beautiful Bloom of The Desert. Agree with previous revue about tees, fairways. Not much rough to deal with either. No traps, but they all looked clean and playable. I had no issues with the greens this AM when it came to putting. Excellent customer service. Great combination of golf (Rams Hill and B S G R) for a two day golf outing. Recommend both courses.

Wanted to escape from wet conditions from our home course so we took the drive to Borrego Springs on 3/13/19. Course was rather busy on this Wed but teed off on time at 10:15am as a 4some and finished in 4 hours.
Course was in very good shape when we played it a year ago and it was in better condition on this day. Tees level, fairways like carpet and greens were hard and smooth with no ballmarks to fix. Only issue our group had is that the greens putted much slower than they looked so we left many putts short all day.
Long drive from home but definitely worth the effort. Highly recommended, especially using the golfmoose or underpar 2some voucher.

Decided to go look for some warm weather. It was a picture perfect day in Borrego. This is a fun course. Resort style & short with mostly dog legs L & R. Course is in over all fantastic shape. Almost as good as Rams Hill. Not as green, but in fantastic shape. Fairways were lush & full. Ball sat perfectly. Tees level & great. Sand in great shape & consistent. Greens were in great shape. I'd say even better then RH right now. Receptive, ran true at a touch above medium. Most greens have above average slope. So some pin locations can mean big breaking putts. A fun scoring course with beautiful views and a decent layout. No wow holes, but all around fun. I'd guess in about 2 weeks the desert Wildflowers will be in full bloom and it should be a SUPER BLOOM year. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful day in the valley. Perfect weather mid to high 70's. Course was in really great shape and we had the place mostly to ourselves ! Fairway's green & lush with just the occasional "non" green spot. Very nice to hit from with perfect lies.
Greens were in fantastic shape. Receptive and smooth, but ran on the slow side at medium or below. Traps were consistent and in good shape. Pretty easy course with many short dog legged holes. Saw cart girl twice. Picture perfect day of golf. Highly recommend.

Overall, the course is truly in great shape from tees to fairways and greens. Unlike prior review, greens were equally smooth and fast but also very hard. Not many ball marks found since it was so hard to make a ball mark anyway. Truly enjoyed putting on these smooth fast greens.
I would disagree with our friends about liking this course better than Rams Hill though. Although condition wise this course is excellent, it doesn't compare with Rams Hill in terms of course design or the classy experience one gets from playing Rams hill.
Still a very enjoyable day at a golf course in great condition with one of the best greens.
Very highly recommended.

Customer service was fantastic. Guys in the proshop were very accommodating from the minute I called to book the tee times to the time we left the facility. Course is in fantastic condition. It's not absolutely perfect, but darn near close.

Greens were some of the nicest I've played on. Very soft and receptive and putted extremely true, not one time did a putt hop or bump offline. They were very fast, as well. Beware after the morning dew. Teeboxes were very nice, very level with absolutely no divot damage. Almost perfect, they had a little mix of grass types running through them, otherwise they would've been perfect. Fairways were darn near flawless. Decent amount of roll and never once did I have a bad lie, absolutely great. Sand traps were also in great shape, perfect amount of sand and it was nice and fluffy. Rough was thick and fairly penal, so be careful and try and stay in the fairway. It wasn't super high, but it definitely influenced your shot.

Beautiful weather and had a blast. Room we had was awesome, too. Nice King bed, very large room with a balcony. I will be back.

Borrego Springs Resort – a solid 9, it was great (and it’s winter time). The course is beautiful.

I am giving some leeway to it being muddy in places, there were two days of rain proceeding my day of golf here. Everyone was very nice and very helpful here at BSR – Rick at the front was particularly nice – he let me go out early and take some pictures which I plan on sharing here with GK. ??

The course was great, from tee to greens but I will say that the very small flaws were in fact fairly minor. But the tee boxes were perfect – unlike a lot of courses where you have to make concession because so many people may divot the tees, but it’s not like that here. I think that there are not a lot of people playing here, I know that the day that I played it seemed as thought I basically had the course to myself. The POP was 2hrs for me, but I got out at 9:22AM and I spoke to some locals and they said that the POP is usually 3.5hrs to 4hrs. Since there are not many people that play here, there were not an exorbitant amount of divots out of any of the tee boxes.

The fairways were fantastic, and varied, they had old school slow, soft sloping fairly easy fairways, some being very wide to others being normal and some skinny at points. Just keep it on the fairway and I am sure that you will probably be able to make GIR “easily.” Most of the fairway seems to be easy to strike like a green cloud, but, unfortunately like I said, there was rain the last two days, so there were times where, even though it looked green the divot was muddy – not wet, it drained well, just muddy.

With plenty of grass and room after the first cut of fairway there was plenty of green, but since it is in the middle of nowhere (in the desert area they have hazards and out of bounds which were just dirt. But, the grounds were so well maintained, surrounding the course with beautiful trees, cacti and the likes. While on scenery, the mountainous backdrop was incredibly beautiful. I really like this course.

The bunkers were probably the best playable bunkers I’ve played. I practiced in the practice bunker which was great for a couple of reasons; 1) they had it as in not all places offer bunkers to practice in, 2) it was well maintained, 3) it resembled the course bunkers, 3a) the same kind of sand 3b) the same kind of grade, 3c) the same slope, 3d) the same size or more correctly shape of the bunkers on the course. They were beach sand and at least four solid inches of nice sand so every bunker shot was consistent – you could count on it. I play from the white tees and I am NOT a big hitter, I usually carry 210 to 240 and I seemed to be able to carry all of the first bunkers, which really made it fun for me to play. The greenside bunkers were not overly dramatic, I’d say that there was a bit more greenside face to the bunkers which did make them more dramatic that the fairway bunkers, but still fairly shallow. This also made it easier, more friendly and fun to play. With a very few pieces of grass, not weeds and not patches of grass in the bunkers, but just – very few places there was some grass in some of the bunkers. Anyway you went about it, the grass in the bunkers should not have hampered your play. Bunkers were 9 out of 10.

The practice facilities were great. The chipping area was closed, but the practice green rolled beautifully just like the course and the sand area played just like the course as well.
I really liked this course, I would recommend it if you have the time to go there. Thank you BSR.

I too played BSR Saturday morning early. I concur with the recent review. The course is in really good condition, the greens may be in the best shape that I have ever seen them, they were firm but would certainly hold a shot, and putted true, no bumps or bare spots. The black tees are a pretty decent challenge, they do have blended or resort tees I think they call them, a combination of black and blue tees. There are a couple of very long par 3's. Not an overly difficult course but certainly can be challenging, with very good bunker placements.

In part one of our 36-hole pre-Rams Hill GK Plays, Kassper7, Mattias, ahossom and myself played at Borrego Springs on Saturday morning as first group out for the day at 7:15. The weather was perfect for winter desert golf and the course did not disappoint. After a few lean months in LA County, it was nice to get back out onto a proper green and healthy looking course. Between the desert waste areas and the beautiful mountain backdrop, Borrego Springs offers up a verdant set of fairways providing great lies and pretty visuals. If you venture out into the rough on occasion, not a problem - it's not cut to a penal length and you're generally fine in most spots hitting out of it. Sand traps were good but not great - perfectly playable but you could tell there was not a thick layer of sand in them. But again, played just fine. Tee boxes pretty much perfect (we played the black set of tees). And the greens? Very nice. Great condition, but not so fast as to get frustrated. And they're very fun to play as well, with subtle undulations and breaks but nothing too crazy - it is after all a resort course. That being said, this course is far from easy. There are definitely a good amount of holes with water in play, ample traps, and also plenty of desert carries and not-so-easy-to-see lines off the tee if you're not familiar with the place. Oh, and how about a 250 yard par 3 from the blacks? It's a flat course for sure but there are some mounding areas that can influence your ultimate ball location. Long story short - it's fun. For a $65 greens fee with cart, and plenty of stay and play options at the accompanying Borrego Springs resort, this is a great deal and an excellent place to play. There is also a nice bar and restaurant attached (Arches) with nice, fun staff and good food. All in all it was a pretty great experience and I could easily see this place being a big part of a yearly visit to the Borrego Springs area.
